2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE- Choctaw, OK
My Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit was purchased new in 2018. I am the only owner and primary driver. In early 2020 I noticed some bubbling with the leather of the dashboard. It continued to bubble up a little at a time until today, November 7, 2023 it is so bubbled up that the delaminated leather blocks the air vent that defrosts my windsheild; blocks completely any possibility of warm air reaching the windshield wipers. In freezing weather conditions this becomes very dangerous. I was driving in a blizzard down the freeway with very low visibility. The only way I could see anything was to have the wipers going at full speed. Because they were not receiving any warm air from the defrost vents they froze up in the closed position and would not move. Due to freeway traffic and conditions I could not pull over but I could not see. I nearly rear ended a vehicle in front of me and could not see to trade lanes and try to pull off. I was able to roll down my window, grab and flip the wiper to get it moving WHILE DRIVING. My front passenger was able to do the same and we continued to drive this way with our windows down until we could pull off. Other drivers with functioning dashboards where the warm air was reaching the wiper area as intended were not having the same problem I was. The delaminated leather is also a problem because my windshield will not defog on the lower half and visibility can be very poor. This may not be as big a hazard but still is a hazard because of the reduced visibility.

The Uconnect screen is delaminating and malfunctioning. I am unable to control what the screen randomly touches which includes controlling the temperature in the car. I am not able to properly set the temperature and direction of the heat to defog my windshield while driving. It creates a hazard while driving when my windows fog up and I can't see while driving on the expressway going 50mph.

2018 Grand Cherokee....As you are aware of this already, the radio screen started delaminating and now the crystals are leaking out of he bottom of the screen. This in turn causes all the systems to go off and on at random, that can be controlled by the screen. All safety functions are now disabled due to this problem. Several attempts were made to contact the dealership and jeep customer care, only to be told that here is nothing they can do and to buy a new one. They also said there was no guarantee that the new radio wouldn't do the same thing. This is a top of the line high altitude grand cherokee that now doesn't have any of the safety features and comforts that i paid top dollar for. Jeep should honor their quality control issues but have been blowing everyone off. I have been on many forums and they are having the same issue. I got your website from one of the forums and can't believe that is has been a long time since they posted and you couldn't do anything about it so far. Thanks for listening, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The screen is delaminating a little bit not long after I bought the car. Now the delamination came down to the radio button. There is a “ghost button” which makes the screen jump from the radio to the map nonstop. It is impossible to use the map even map from car play . It is very dangerous to drive on highway.

The UConnect touchscreen on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has experienced delaminating and I currently experience phantom touches on the screen (I don't touch the screen but selections are randomly made). These phantom touches are a serious distraction to a driver and they happen frequently. Given all of the controls for the automobile that can be made from the screen, it is a serious safety issues to drivers of these vehicles with this issue as well as others on the road. I have read on numerous online forums that there have been many others that have or are currently experiencing this problem. I believe the auto maker should have these vehicles recalled and appropriately fixed. Please look into this issue ASAP before someone is hurt by the automaker's inaction. I'd be happy to answer any questions that you might have about this problem.

The Uconnect (screen with radio/nav/driver control) is "delaminating". Which means the one screen layer is separating from another layer. This causes the screen to change randomly. With the Uconnect on, I can expect the radio to change stations, AC/Heat to change temperatyre/speed and basically anything that the Uconnect controls. It all depends on what part of the screen is effected that particular day. It's a huge distraction and no way to eliminate using the Uconnect since it control some of the basic car functions. I am unawar of a fix o this problem.
