Known Jeep “death wobble” Sudden violent shaking after hitting pothole or uneven surfaces

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000(Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,000. The VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the air was bled from the dampener and the tires were rotated. Additionally, there was a crack in the ball joints, and it was diagnosed that the steering dampener needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Jeep will occasional shake violently at approximately 60 MPH. Had vehicle in to dealer in July 2023. Dealer said problem fixed. Most recent incident March 19th. Commonly referred to as Jeep “death wobble.” Vehicle in shop again.

Been waiting since early January for Freehold Jeep to repair the recall with the hybrid batter, risk of fire while ignition is on or off. They are not calling me back to get this fixed.

Took my jeep Wrangler 4xe for the [XXX] recall fix to Cole Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in San Luis Obispo California. My vehicle was returned to me in less than 4 hours of drop off with a depleted electric battery. The recall fix was not done correctly per Stellantis instructions. The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle drove over a bump and experienced a death wobble. The contact then decelerated the vehicle to 45 MPH and was able to correct the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering damper needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. The VIN was invalid.

After a period of 10 minutes in stop-and-go traffic, a shift warning light indicated on the warning panel. All the lights for the gear shift lever would light up individually. The vehicle turned off the stability control system and indicated a warning to proceed driving however the vehicle may not be able to shift into park. After about 3 miles of driving, it felt like the power steering stopped working and it was extremely difficult to control and turn the vehicle. It also felt like the vehicle would not shift properly. Once the vehicle was to the side of the road, it indicated that the vehicle was not in park despite moving the gear shift lever to park. The vehicle would not turn off of accessory mode. Had whatever happened to the power steering happened at any higher rate of speed, the vehicle would have been impossible to control in a turn or traffic. It took every bit of arm strength to coax the vehicle to the side of the road.
