2017 KIA SORENTO Complaints

The car engine died while I was driving on the highway. When the car started decelerating there was no place to pull over. Fortunately, I was able to make it to the right lane and exit on a toll ramp before the vehicle completely stopped. Unable to restart the car. Had it towed to the closest dealership. MIDTOWN KIA, 4747 SOUTH YALE AVENUE, TULSA, OK 74135 (918) 622-3160 The Dealer determined that the engine was faulty due to a recall issue - Warranty Extension [XXX] Insurance Company referred us to KIA Corporation for Warranty Coverage On the day of engine dying there was a rattling noise prior to the incident. My car has less than 62,000 miles on it and is burning through all oil every 2000 miles. My engine is completely out of oil. I only know this because I checked it...no lights or any warning signs that it is out. I am worried my engine will seize at any given time.

On 12/31/23 my vehicle caught on fire while in my driveway and ignition was off. The fire started in the rear/at the hatch. Fire Department was called and extinguished. Arson investigator was called to the scene and found no fowl play. I did receive multiple recall letters for the tow hitch, which could catch fire due to corossion/electrical issues, but was told by a local dealership that I brought the vehicle to, my vehicle was not involved. Based on events, I disagree.

I was driving my car on a major highway and my check engine light came on. Luckily i was close to an exit so i pulled off and my car shut down. I had someone to come and check it and found out that it was my knock sensor and it gave a code#p1326. With further investigation, i see that this was on a recall. I haven't driven my car since 12/13/23 due to black smoke comes from my tail pipe and i don't think that's safe but Kia telling me i can still drive it.I contacted Kia and they tells me campaign#18V907000 isn't for my model car. When i check on KBB.com and enter my vin#, i see my year/make/model is part of this campaign.I'm just looking for some help with resolving this.

Engine failed while driving on busy highway. No warning lights or indications that there wa san engine or oil issue. Had to be towed 30 miles back home. Mechanic diagnosed with engine failure due to loss of oil. Oil change had been completed two weeks prior. Mileage was around 65,000 but was second owner so when I called Kia, I was told the original warranty did not apply. Had to replace engine.

Kia lost power on the interstate. I was able to pull to the side of the road and then the car completely shut off and is now Unable to drive and requiring a motor replacement. I have an estimated 121,000 miles in the engine

We bought this vehicle new and have been the only owners. I was about halfway through an ~8 hour drive, on a highway in rural West Virginia, when the Check Engine light came on and the vehicle started making a light clicking noise from near the engine. Moments later, I heard a loud pop and the vehicle lost power (gas power, not electrical) and started gliding. Some smoke and/or steam came from the front of the vehicle. I glided over to the shoulder and several other drivers pulled over. One told me that the car was on fire and I should get out and move away. I and the others were able to see the fire under the vehicle. It appeared to be oil that ignited after engine blew. The fire went out, the other people left, and I took care of getting the vehicle towed to Freedom Kia in Morganton, WV, where it has been ever since.

My headlights, when set to ‘auto’ randomly turn off. Very scary and dangerous at night! Also, illegal. I can get them to come back on by turning the lights off and on multiple times from the left stalk. But can’t believe Kia hasn’t addressed this.

This car has been consuming oil at a crazy rate I have been to the dealer at least 20 times with them saying I need to do oil consumption tests which I thought was already done but the car is misfiring and all that can be done right now is to drive it until engine seizes my question is how is this ok how does Kia sell a certified car with only 15,000 miles on it (when purchased) tell people well can’t help you because you are not the original owner

continuous issues with "sticky" or "notchy" steering. Steering is not smooth and almost caused several accidents.
