  • 2012 KIA SORENTO
    - Saint Louis, MO

The contact owns a 2012 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that upon parking the vehicle at his home, an abnormal burning odor began to emit from the vehicle's vents. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact discovered that the engine had caught fire and did not engulf beyond the vehicle's firewall. The contact used his home's water hose and sprayed the engine for approximately 25-30 minutes until the fire was fully extinguished. The police and fire departments were not notified of the failure and no injuries were reported. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) which was linked to the failure. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The wipers aren't working but the car is still accelerating then all of a sudden the car goes from 55 to 0 the wheel locks and I have to coat to the side of the road.

  • 2021 KIA SOUL
    - Sacramento, CA

Less than 24 hours after being purchased as a Kia factory certified pre-owned vehicle my daughter was driving. While driving headlights, wipers, and dash lights went out including infotainment/CarPlay map display on a rainy day. California requires headlights be on when wipers are used. Occurred while doing approximately 25 mph after going over a speed bump. When stopped and key was turned to ACC, they came back on. Issue did not return when vehicle was started again. Dealer has said they can find not fault. We have located threads for this issue with other Kia models on [XXX] . One common factor is they are key start, not push start models. • 2017 KIA FORTE
    - Byram, NJ

-Airbags did not deploy. -The car is available for inspection. -The driver was put at significant risk after the vehicle accidentally slid on ice while navigating a sharp curve, causing it to veer off the road and crash into trees. The impact resulted in the car being totaled from the front bumper to the back. Despite the severity of the crash, the airbags failed to deploy, making the driver's seatbelt the only factor that ultimately saved his life. -Insurance agent still needs to look at the car. Police office was present, along with tow driver. -No warnings

  • 2023 KIA EV6
    - Ayer, MA

I purchased my 2023 Kia EV6 in December 28, 2024. On January 8, 2025, I took my EV6 in for the SC327 recall service. Despite completion of the recall service, my ICCU still failed and my car lost power while driving on February 6, 2025. I was driving 45 mph down a state road and was about to get into a highway onramp when my speed quickly dropped to 13 mph and my car displayed a "check electrical system" warning. The car would not go above 13 mph. I was fortunate that no one was following close behind me and that I was not on the highway. Had I been in front of a truck or other vehicle that couldn't stop quickly, the sudden deceleration could have been very dangerous. I was fortunate that I was near a parking lot that I could pull into to wait for a tow truck. By the time I got into the parking lot my car completely died and I was stuck without heat in 19 degree F weather. There were no symptoms prior to the failure, and the first warning about the electrical system ("Stop vehicle and check power supply") appeared after I lost acceleration. This warning was followed by "12 volt battery low. Stop safely." before it died completely. The vehicle is currently at the Kia Dealership pending repair.
