2023 KIA SPORTAGE HYBRID- NAPLES, FL
Traveling at 70 MPH on [XXX] in traffic, the vehicle suddenly lost power and I was forced to unsafely maneuver to the shoulder of the road as the vehicle decelerated through the traffic. As soon as I stopped, the vehicle lost all power. I had difficulty engaging the parking brake as I was on a hill and the vehicle started to roll back. The brake pedal did work so I could stop the car but I could not exit the vehicle in fear of it rolling back into traffic. I called 911 to explain the situation. After 20 more minutes I engaged/disengaged the parking brake several times and it finally held. I still would not leave the vehicle because I could not trust it at that point. Another 20 minutes passed and a road ranger arrived and placed a wooden block behind the wheel and at that point I felt comfortable to get out of the car. I was told by Kia service the issue was related to recall SA553A but I was never notified. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2024 KIA EV9- Seattle, WA
The 12-volt battery for the vehicle was depleted, so the vehicle had to be jump-started to run. I work for a repair facility (it was here for collision repairs, as far as I know unrelated to this issue) and since I was unfamiliar with the vehicle, I inadvertently turned it off before shifting into park. When I took my foot off the brake, the vehicle began to roll forward. I am not sure if the vehicle was in park, neutral, or even reverse (the gear I was in when I turned the vehicle off), but whatever gear it was, the vehicle kept rolling after it was turned off. I tried turning the vehicle back on to shift to park, but was unable to do so due to the depleted 12-volt battery. I tried hitting the park button anyway, and this did nothing. I then tried to engage the electronic parking brake, but this was also inoperative due to the lack of power. With each attempt, I tried briefly taking my foot off the brake, but each time it continued to roll forward. I then called my manager and asked him to jump start the vehicle so I could put it in park and engage the parking brake. No damage was done in this incident, nor was anyone hurt, but this lack of fail-safes to prevent the vehicle from moving after a loss of power is a significant design flaw and safety hazard. If I had not noticed the issue in time and gotten out, the vehicle could have rolled away and caused property damage or bodily injury to me or a bystander. To my knowledge, this is the only such incident with this vehicle, and I do not know whether it is specific to this particular vehicle or replicable in others of the same year make and model. There were no warning lights.

2014 KIA SORENTO- York, PA
Paint peeling on my car and looks terrible and no help at all through the Kia. Very poor service. I take care of my car and for my paint to peel this is not right at all and they Kia can't even back up the product. Kia dealer or Kia headquarters does nothing about the issue and I have to drive their product looking like this because they don't have any support with this issue.

2019 KIA SORENTO- Cumberland, RI
I am the owner of the aforementioned KIA Sorento EX SUV which I leased when new from TASCA KIA then purchased at the end of my lease. It should be noted that my new address is [XXX] as I moved from the Coventry address on May 26, 2023. I religiously have my oil changed (have all receipts since 2019) at the manufacturers recommendation. At around 55,000 miles I started noticed wet spots on the driveway below the engine and was not sure if it was anti-freeze or oil. As the mileage on my vehicle increased over time I noticed the spots on the driveway getting bigger. A fellow KIA owner who incidently owned a 2019 Sorento Platinum with a V-6 like mine stated that they developed a sizeable oil leak in their vehicle at around 50K miles. My vehicle had close to 74K miles and I noticed that my oil level was dipping down. On December 9, 2024, I drove my vehicle over to KIA of Attleboro, MA and after a mechanics inspection it was determined that was engine was in fact leaking oil from both the filter housing which is plastic and also from the area where the wiring harness connects to the oil pan that indicates low oil pressure which never notified of low oil. On December 10, 2024, I brought my KIA Sorento back to the same dealership in Massachusetts where the oil leaks were repaired at a cost of $912.43. I subsequently went on the web and discovered that this was a growing problem with this year and model KIA along with other years with some owners seizing their motors. I never received a notice from KIA notifying me of this potential issue which I believe is larger than being reported and should inspired NHTSA to force KIA USA to send out a notice to all affected KIA owners and fix this problem at no cost to the consumer. Putting this money out unexpectedly just before Christmas was painful. I would like to be compensated for this expense which is a defect. Thank you. 2017 KIA FORTE- Troy, MI
My car's acceleration pedal stopped responding while driving, and the oil warning light turned on in the dashboard. Gradually, the check engine light came on, and the car stopped moving. After researching, I found that a common issue with the 2017 Kia Forte is a potential problem with the oil pump, where foreign particles can become trapped inside, leading to oil pump failure and possible engine damage.

2016 KIA SEDONA- deerfield bch, FL
ON OUR 2016 KIA SEDONA AT 121K MILES WE HAD A FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR REPLACED FREE UNDER WARRENTY AT THE SAME TIME WE HAD ALL OF THE VALVE COVER GASKETS REPLACED AND THEY ADDED 5 QUARTS OF OIL. ON FRIDAY AT 130K MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE VAN STARTED KNOCKING AND THE MOTOR SEIZED UP ON THE HIGHWAY. WE TOWED IT TO PHIL SMITH KIA IN LIGHTHOUSE POINT ,FL THEY PERFORM THE WORK ON THE OIL PRSSSURE SENSOR AT 121K MILES AND DO ALL OF THE WORK ON THE VAN. THEY SAID THE MOTOR IS SEIZED AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRENTY BECAUSE WHEN THEY DID THE WORK AT 121K MILES AND THEY ADDED THE 5 COURTS OF OIL WE DIDNT REQUEST A NEW OIL FILTER. AND NOW THEY ARE CLAMING A LACK OF A PROPER OIL CHANGE CAUSE THE MOTOR TO SEIZE.. THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON PRIOR TO THE MOTOR SEIZING . I WAS STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR 2 HOURS WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SHOWED UP HE CHECK THE DIPSTICK AND THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE VAN

2012 KIA SOUL- Cape Coral, FL
Was stalling, would loose power, now will not start. Found a recall ( engine and engine cooling: exhaust system: emission control: catalytic converter # 19v120000.) same problems. Towed to local kia, they say not under recall list. This recall is only for engine size 1.6. My engine is a 2.0. But they said catalytic converter needs replaced. Although car is aged only has about 55,000 miles. Catalytic converter should not be an issue. I believe the 2.0 engine needs to be added to the recall list.
