Pearl paint has been peeling more and more especially when washing my vehicle. This shouldn't be happening and i see similar paint issues with other Kia and Hyundai models. I need Kia to take accountable and responsibly for their defect.

2013 KIA OPTIMA- Los Angeles, CA
The contact owns a 2013 Kia Optima. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil. There was no indication of an oil leak. There were no warning lights illuminated. There was an abnormal burning odor coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V224000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where three oil consumption tests were performed. The mechanic added oil. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact had to continuously add oil. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the oil gasket was cracked. The oil gasket was replaced, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for routine maintenance who determined that the engine was 2-quarts low on engine oil. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 87,095.

2023 KIA NIRO- Seal Beach , CA
Each time I don't drive for a few days and start driving again, the car jerks/jolts as it's shifting gears (both when I'm accelerating and decelerating). The sudden jolts is dangerous as I'm gauging cars ahead and behind me as I'm driving. But when I brought it up to the service department, they said they can't diagnose it if it isn't happening at the moment, but by the time I've driven to a dealership, my car is warmed up and not jolting anymore.

2015 KIA OPTIMA- Adairsville, GA
My vehicle is painted in the Snow White Pearl. The paint started out looking almost "bubbled" but definitely showed serious signs of delamination, quickly after noticing the delamination, the paint flaked off in relatively large pieces all over my vehicle. There is paint missing from the hood, the roof, the back passenger side door, the quarter back panel of the passenger side, and one chip on the driver side door. I reached out to KIA regarding the issue and was told that there is nothing that can be done. I have gotten to the point that i cannot stand to look at the car I once loved so much, it is a shame. KIA is a company that I have been loyal to when it comes to vehicles and I have only owned KIA's since 2008 but after this issue I am almost embarrassed to show up anywhere driving this car.. and even more so I am upset that KIA will not do what it takes to remedy this issue for myself and so many others.

2018 KIA SORENTO- Washington, ME
I had an engine failure in my Kia. On [XXX], I was driving on [XXX] in Maine, and the "malfunction" light lit up, and I lost power in the vehicle. I was able to make it to the side of the highway and call a tow truck. Losing power on a busy interstate put myself and my partner at risk, as well as having to wait on the side of the interstate for a tow truck. I had the vehicle towed to a mechanic who said the engine needed to be replaced because a cylinder lost compression. Kia had me tow it to a Kia dealership, and they verified that the engine needed to be replaced. The matter is still open. My case with Kia is [XXX]. Kia has been completely unresponsive in the matter. They have told me repeatedly that the matter is being looked into by their tech team, but they have never reached out to the Kia dealership they told me to send it to. It could be related to a rod bearing issue, but they are not willing to follow up enough to even determine whether or not that is the issue. Prior to the engine failure, I had issues with oil loss. I replaced the PCV valve, but that did not turn out to be the problem. I had it inspected a few weeks before the engine failure, and they noted that the oil levels were low. I was not seeing warning lights for low oil, but I was maintaining oil levels while I waited for an appointment to look into that issue. I believe Kia knows this is an ongoing issue with their vehicles, and they are actively obstructing any inquiries as to why this engine problem persists. 2016 KIA SEDONA- BELLINGHAM, WA
The engine in our 2016 3.3L GDI Sedona seized while we were driving on the freeway going approx 65MPH on 12/29/24. The vehicle was towed to the KIA dealership in our town and examined by the service dept the following morning. We were told that the engine had no oil and it had leaked into the crankshaft where it burned up. Also, the engine compartment was filled with metal shavings. The service tech told us we would need to replace the engine.
