Subject: Urgent Safety Complaint Regarding Recall Delays for My Kia Vehicle Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am reaching out to file a safety complaint regarding an ongoing recall issue with my Kia vehicle that has not been addressed, despite multiple attempts to have it resolved. Kia has been aware of the necessary recall for several months, and I recently scheduled an appointment with my local dealership to address these recalls. Unfortunately, the dealership canceled my appointment the day before, citing that they still do not have the necessary parts to complete the repair. This situation has escalated to a serious safety hazard, not only for my family and me but for others around us. Recently, while my vehicle was parked at my child’s school, I experienced a malfunction that caused the vehicle to roll forward while still in park. I was momentarily unaware of the movement and was horrified to realize it almost struck a mother and her child who were exiting the school. This has been a frightening and deeply disappointing experience, and I am concerned about the lack of urgency from Kia in addressing this issue. I urge NHTSA to look into this matter and take action as needed to ensure that Kia expedites the resolution of these critical safety recalls. This issue cannot wait any longer, as it poses a serious risk to public safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] Phone: [XXX] Email: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • 2023 KIA SORENTO HYBRID
    - Martinez, CA

While slowing from cruising speed to around 5 MPH, give or take, and pressing on the accelerator, the vehicle will not respond/accelerate for up to 1 second. This is dangerous because you don't know when the vehicle will respond and if you'll have the acceleration. My assumption is this is a symptom of the hybrid system trying to determine the best mode of propulsion - gas, electric only or a combination of both. We've taken it to the dealer and we were told "this is how hybrid systems work." We've owned Toyota hybrid systems and we know this is not normal. Kia/Hyundai should reprogram the hybrid system to that it responds with no delay, even if it means the fuel milage suffers as a result.

I am the original owner of our 2021 Kia Telluride and we follow the manufacturers recommendations and ensure our oil is changed every ~10K miles. Our Kia was recently serviced at Nationwide Kia in Timonium Maryland in April 2024 and had the oil changed. As I was driving today, [XXX] the Oil Pressure Warning Light came on. When I pulled over, I checked the dipstick and it was below the low level. I immediately put in 5 quarts of oil and the light remains on. I contacted Kia and will be taking the car in for them to assess; however, I am urging that a recall for this issue is addressed. This is a common problem that others are having as well. This could have caused significant issues as I work in the inner city of Baltimore and breaking down would not be a good thing for a [XXX] Please ensure Kia does the right thing and issues a recall for this issue. - Foley, AL

I was driving down the interstate and my car made a loud noise and then it lost power. I was able to steer it off the exit. Tried to start it it turned over but wouldn't start . Before this happened my car was using up oil like crazy I took it to a mechanic and he said it wasn't leaking it and it isn't burning it so where is it going? I paid 10,000 cash for this vehicle and was only able to drive it 2 months the engine is gone. No warning, nothing... Kia needs to replace my engine along with all the other people that are having this problem, it's obviously kias fault too many of these 2016 serentos are having the same issue. I found out about all the other cars when I put it on the market place trying to sell it as is two different people told me that Kia had a recall and replaced their engines . How do you fix some and not all that are having the same issue?
