2018 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER Complaints

2018 Range Rover Velar started leaking coolant in Nov 2024. Car was diagnosed by the Land Rover dealership as a coolant inlet pipe leak. Claim has been submitted to Land Rover as this is a known ongoing issue with this model as well as others. Awaiting decision. Dealership quoted nearly $3000 to correct issue.

The contact owns a 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that there was water inside the rearview camera, causing the camera to become inoperable and fail to display images. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V023000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

The backup camera fails to display any image on the screen, significantly impacting my visibility while reversing. This issue occurred unexpectedly. Upon contacting the dealer, I was informed there is an active recall (24V023) related to this problem, but my VIN is not included. I believe my vehicle is also affected by the same recall. For reference, Land Rover’s internal recall number for this issue is N778.

DRIVER-SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ARE OUT. THEY'RE LED, YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT/DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT MODULE BECAUSE IT'S SEALED AND THERE ARE NO BULBS TO REPLACE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. A NEW ASSEMBLY IS REPORTED TO BE $9,000, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. THIS SHOULD HAVE A FACTORY RECALL. THIS CAR ONLY HAS ABOT 40,000 MILES ON IT.

Car smoking with burning fumes. Serviced at Land Rover dealership 5 months prior. Crank shaft pulley with the tensioner And belt failure/fault

Several time While driving on the interstate my vehicle loses power and low coolant light came on then went off. Light constantly does that even though there is plenty of coolant in the tank. One day [XXX} when trying to pick up speed, I was going 60 and my car went completely limp then picked back up causing me to panic as I had truckers on the highway as I was trying to merge. I pulled over to the side of the interstate hit my emergency flashers, turned the car off and started again to continue on my trip when I started driving again I had my car start overheating and was slowing down not able to get over something popped and smoke started coming out from under the hood a belt had busted causing fluids to go everywhere. Had my car towed to dealership in Hilton head island where they replaced my belt and battery said everything was fine and good to go. Car continues to have same problem and can’t get dealership to fix it as appointments are 2 months out. Took it to a mechanic who said I clearly have slash marks and burns on hoses and one of the water lines that is aluminum or metal had a whole that has turned into a bigger one which should have been caught when belt busted. In February 2024, my car overheated. There was a large coolant leak in valley from the water pump and outlet pipes and a secondary leak from rear crossover pipe as well. The water pump, water valve, and cooling hoses were replaced, as well as the failed outlet pip and cooling hoses. Coolant soaked belts were also replaced. In August 2024, my car overheated AGAIN. This time, while I was driving in the middle of the freeway. When I took it back, there was another leak from one of the cooling hoses, so it was replaced again. Just last week, my car overheated AGAIN. Again, it was another leaking component that was fixed under warranty. The auto shop I took it to reached out to the dealer, as it's been an issue well known for failure.

The contact owns a 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. The contact stated that while pulling into a parking lot; after driving approximately 35 MPH, an on-looker informed the contact that the daytime running lights were not operating as designed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the daytime running lights needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact attempted to have the daytime running lights replaced by a body shop with a used part but decided that new daytime running lights would be best. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,500.

Driving and suddenly got "engine overheating low coolant stop engine immediately" warning message on instrument cluster. Pulled over and found coolant pouring out of front of engine. There was no warning or signs of prior coolant leakage before this incident. Happened suddenly without warning. Dealer found coolant pipe assembly part number LR100352 split at seam. This is the fourth failure of the same part number, same failure within a three year period and 30000 miles. All parts where Land Rover parts supplied by dealership.
