2018 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER Complaints

The engine overheating light came on followed by coolant level low. There was a rattling sound coming from underneath, the car slowed down, and smoke came into the air vents in the car and was smoking under the hood when pulled over. I took my vehicle to the closest dealership, Honda, to assess and determine if it needed to be towed to Land Rover or if they could fix it. The day prior the coolant level low light came on, my husband filled the coolant and the light went off. When I was driving my car the next day the light came on along with the engine overheating, something was dripping from underneath when the vehicle was turned off.

My car had a coolant leak and started overheating and i immediately took it to the dealership. It was found that the water pump and coolant was leaking in the front and back and the temp gauge was broken. This car has less than 68k miles and shouldn’t happen. I found a recall with the same vehicle but my vin is not pulling up in the recall. I also found out from other services that they are fixing this a lot with the model and the manufacturer won’t take responsibility. If this isn’t fixed my car will catch fire.

While driving, the vehicle will randomly shut off in traffic. I will usually hear 3 "beeps" right before it happens. The vehicle shuts down and goes into Park automatically. It has to be restarted and placed back into Drive. The display will read "Select Gear to Maneuver" and the home screen will read "Special Programs Off" with a lengthy definition. Vehicle was inspected and diagnostics performed by Land Rover dealer in Indianapolis. Technicians did not find any stored codes, warnings, or any indication of what would cause the defect. Since the inspection in late July, the vehicle has shut down 3 times. 8/21/23 & twice on 9/20/23.

Safety feature: Day time running led light is not working properly. Turns on when the engine starts but then cuts off. The problem is that in order to repair the issue the whole headlight assembly has to be replaced. The dealer refuses to replace the assembly under the extended warranty because they indicate led lights aren’t covered. Due to the complexity of the issue and the cost of the part, the life expectancy of the part should last well past 5 years. All other dealerships cover the replacement of this part under their extended warranty as it is a common issue.

The spoiler cracked when I closed the rear door using the remote. A piece of the spoiler flew off while I was driving.

Unfortunately I really have no idea what caused the problem . But While driving on the highway ( in traffic ) going approx 40 Mph . my vehicle had a low coolant light come on. Within 5 min of the light coming on the vehicle made a loud fast ticking like noise so I pulled off the road 1 half mile from my exit . Before I could even stop the vehicle fully . the cars hood had smoke and flames coming out . The flames got to at least 10 feet in the air … Within 15 min the front of the vehicle was burned to the ground . Police and fire arrived just under 15 min and were able to put the fire out . I have videos of the vehicle as I ran for safety . I had no none problems with this vehicle prior to this incident. The fire and police stated they have never seen a car like this go up in flames so fast as this one .

The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Air bag warning light keeps coming on dealer has repaired problem but it keeps recurring. I have had this issue since vehicle was new. Repair usually lasts 6 to eight months

The manufacturer was also notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under recall or warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
