LEXUS Complaints

ABS Modulator has failed on mine and thousands of owners across the US & the World. Toyota/Lexus knows about this and has issued TSIB's for several models including the LS460 from 2007-2017 up to a certain mileage. My vehicle has too many miles to be included in this, but the safety of my vehicle is in serious risk due to a problem that they have known about for many years, but have failed to do a recall on all of these vehicles. The repair costs on average $2,000 to $4,000.00.

My dash has cracked and melted due to a manufacturing defect. The Lexus dealers who I have contacted to perform the safety recall for the defective airbags will not replace the cracked dash at the same time. Having the passenger airbag deploy through a cracked dash is an apparent safety issue. Please investigate this

The dashboard is melting a known error to Lexus and when the sun hits it reflects off the melted dash and puts a glare on the windshield. Lexus knew about the problem and instead of doing a recall they did an extended warranty back in 2017. I took mine in and assumed they replaced dash and door panels. Called this year because my dash was melting and they stated all they did was the door panels back in 2017. I have informed my local dealership as well as corporate and neither seem willing to help or fix the issue. There are all kinds of write up online about this issue. It is definitely a safety issue that should have been addressed a while back but wasn’t.

Took vehicle for an oil change and toyota dealership sees an oil leak at the timing chain cover which can cause an engine fire. A common problem as Toyota tech stated on all Toyota/Lexus 3.5 liter V6 24-valve, dual overhead cam (DOHC), Direct & port injection, Variable Valve Timing (VVT-i), 306 hp.

On [XXX], my wife, [XXX] , was driving our Lexus RX 350 when she noticed engine smoke without any prior notifications from the vehicle. Concerned for her safety, she pulled over and contacted Geico for assistance. Geico arranged for the vehicle to be towed to Motor City Lexus, a trusted Lexus dealership in Bakersfield. Once we the dealership performed a diagnosis they advised that the issue involved coolant being leaked into the engine that caused the smoke with in result caused the engine blow head gasket. After doing some research I saw an article from consumer reports about some Lexus and Toyota SUVs doing the exact same thing which made me decide to wrote about this incident. This 2023 Lexus RX350H and several others vehicles of the same model and year and the 2024 year model have made sporadic roof popping noises that appear to be causes from heat expansion and/or flexion of the vehicle. I have taken this vehicle in a total of seven (7) times to two different Lexus dealerships. The first (4) trips to the dealerships they were unable to duplicate the vehicle, because they didn't keep it long enough. The last three (3) trips to Sewell Lexus in Fort Worth they heard the roof noises and were unable to fix the problem. On the last visit the Lexus Representative supervised the repair and determined that the problem was what the called roofs bows or what appears to be roof supports had come detached from the inside of the roof. The dealership supposedly re-glued the bows/supports and claimed the vehicle was repaired. Three days later the car made the popping noise and has done it often own since then. I have personally driven a similar model loan vehicle from the dealership and it made the popping roof noise also. I have read recent threads this year on the ClubLexus forum site where other Lexus owners of this model vehicle (Both 2023 and 2024) have stated that their vehicle has also made the roof popping noise. I believe this is a Lexus manufacturing defect that they have not been able to fix and have ignored my suggestion that this is a Lexus model defect and also my request for a replacement vehicle, since they haven't been able to fix it. They took the car apart inside to the bare metal the last time they worked on it. This noise has happened when driving, turning corners and when parked and not running. A common problem with these Lexus ct200h, as well as Toyota Prius V models, are that the brake accumulators begin to leak internally, as they share the same part numbers. Therefore, the actuator will buzz every few seconds trying to keep pressure in the braking system to a safe operating level of gas pressure to no avail due to this leak in the actuator. After it quits buzzing from shutting the car off, you can hear the air leak hissing the pressure away. There are many articles on this issue online as this is a major safety concern. Many have had Toyota replace the part free of charge as well due to the extended 10 year, or 150k miles, in whichever comes first. warranty. This may be perhaps because there are several more Prius on the road than this rare Lexus CT200h. There are no external brake fluid leaks involved. for this actuator. Toyota covers it under extended warranty, although it appears as though Lexus does not(?), this is a major safety hazard and concern for a heavy amount on several different websites. The trouble code is: C1391. I called Lexus of Austin and was told there are no recalls, after looking up my VIN#. Searching for “c1391 danger” will yield many incidents of this. This is quite a serious issue that needs government interference. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

The dashboard of the vehicle has deteriorated causing an extreme shiny surface all over. This can be seen at even given time of inspection. A recall was released to do this issue but when the LEXUS Newport News, VA dealership was contacted, the response was this vehicle was not included. During this time the vehicle was already in the need of the dashbpard being replaced due to the reasons stated in the recall letter. The vehicle was later taken to the same dealership whom denied the recall action, for a different service. The representative that was spoken with for the recall was present and seen the condition of the dashboad. the representative then stated that there was a recall for this issue. I reminded them of the call and the rep replied, if we would have known it was this bad, then we would have added your vehicle to the list for repair. I was told since the original recall date had expired for that repair issue that they were not going to honor the repair, even after acknowledging the damage and agreeing that it should have been included. The representative proceeded to suggest me to pay them as the dealer for a dashboard replacement. I asked to speak with another asociate which in turn advised the same information. The suggested service and charge, was declined. This dashboard has caused a mirror like glare in the windshield. It obtructs the view of objects while driving. Eye apparrel has been applied along with, seat position adjustments, and a towel placed to cover the dashboard while operating the vehicle. This is unsafe and as time goes on this issue continues to get worse. I have not had an auto insurance representative inspect the issue. I was unaware that this maybe an option.

We have encountered 2 instances of Unintended Acceleration. Lexus has inspected the vehicle and states they could not find anything wrong. In both instances the car jumped forward without notice. No warnings were given. The first time it occurred there was over $8,500 worth of damage. No damage the second time which occurred on May 20, 2024.

Early morning cold start in open loop engine starts to rattle and knock. Cleaned out EGR system, including intake manifold. Engine still rattles and knocks. Swapped out ignition coils and fuel injectors with new still and still the same thing. DTC sets after a week of troubleshooting for P0303, P0301, and P0300. Switched cylinder ignition coils and fuel injectors from cylinder 1 to 2 and 3 to 4. Same DTC sets after drive cycle. Leak down test confirms cylinder 3 has head gasket leak. Registration was just paid and was going to have it smog test. Unable to pass smog due to check engine light. I had went to Lexus dealer to have them update my car for EGR update according to TSB (see attachment) but they wouldn’t do it unless I pay $300 SMFH!!! What a day! Which engineer suggested this stupid design?!?! And wtf the EGR cooler, more like a heater, has coolant running into housing which raises the engine coolant temp. Exhaust gas may go up to a temp of 600 degrees!! Look at live data and monitor catalyst temp from OBD2. This design was to intentionally cause a head gasket failure. Blades in EGR cooler gets clogged with carbon build up, where carbon will eventually break up into chunks/pebbles that will cause pre-ignition during compression stroke, pinging the engine which will result in misfires and damage the catalyst. One of the worst designs I’ve ever encountered as a car owner. This is ridiculous that this issue has been brought up countless times from thousands of testimony’s of same incident but not even a single word for these models. CT200h and Prius years 2012-2015 have this same dam problem and everyone knows this, even the CA BAR(Bureau of automotive repair). What is it that we as car owners, who abide by the law, and pay our fair share of taxes gets this “setup to fail” deal???
