MASERATI Complaints

Vehicle lost power and cannot be started, cannot be moved due to no manual override for neutral gear. Upon research there are several people on Maserati Grecale forums experienced the same, with few being stuck on a busy highways immobile and cannot be towed easily due to no manual neutral override function. Same incident occurred twice and with the patchy dealer network and the dealer where the car was purchased new closed down/went out of business. Maserati customer service has no clue in addressing the issue.

The contact owns a 2017 Maserati Ghibli. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear end of the vehicle made an abnormal tinging sound. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V856000(Power Train). The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage mileage was approximately 37,600.

INTERMITTENT HARD BRAKE PEDAL INABILITY TO STOP THE CAR IN A SAFE MANNER. I HAD THE VACUUM BOOSTER PUMP REPLACED TWICE. ONCE THE REPAIR LASTED FOR A YEAR THEN THE LAST TIME THE INCIDENT REOCCURED AFTER THE SECOND REPAIR. THE FIRST TIME PRIOR TO REPAIR THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT TRAVELLING A 5 MPH AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR THERE WAS A HARD BRAKING INCIDENT THAT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AT AROUND 40 MPH. THEN HAD NEW BOOSTER PUMP REPAIRED. AFTER SECOND BOOSTER PUMP REPAIR THERE WAS ONOTHER HARD BRAKING PEDAL INCIDENT BUT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITH EXTREME DIFFICULTY. THE FIRST INCIDENT AT 5 MPH MY WIFE WAS DRIVING.

Maserati has had several complaints of the leather dashboard seperating from the dashboard which becomes a visibility issue while driving it the leather flops up high enough and front of the windshield. They need to issue a recall on these dashboards. And they won't help you if your car is out of warranty.

The contact owns a 2014 Maserati Ghibli. The contact stated that on one occasion while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the motherboard control unit was defective due to an unlocated leak. The vehicle was then taken to an auto body shop where it was diagnosed that the failure cause was due to a leak near the front passenger’s side windshield frame that was not welded properly. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The contact owns a 2023 Maserati Grecale. The contact stated that the vehicle auto locked with the keys inside. The contact stated that while putting her children and other items inside the vehicle, the doors automatically locked. The contact attempted to use the App to unlock the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was able to use the spare key to open the vehicle. The contact's child was locked inside the vehicle. The contact stated that after closing the door, the vehicle locked on demand. Additionally, a child was locked in the vehicle, but was able to manually unlock the vehicle and exit safely. The contact had to contact the Police, who attempted to unlock the vehicle but failed in unlocking the vehicle. A Police report was filed. The message “key-not-sensing” was displayed prior to the failure. The local dealer informed the contact that there was no fix and that the feature was the standard feature. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

I’ve owned this car since Jan 2021. Throughout this time the car will show the exact problems mentioned in the Maserati Recall 338. The car will shut off while I’m in traffic, or if I’m slowly going through a yield sign the car will unexpectedly shift into neutral. I’ve tried talking to my local Maserati dealer over the years and all they keep saying is no, you have no open recalls. My car is doing exactly what the recall was for. All I want is a remedy. I’m getting nowhere, they want to charge me $300 to do diagnostics. Specifically, if the vehicle is being operated at speeds of approximately 2 miles per hour (low engine RPM), which can be encountered during heavy stop and go (bumper to bumper) traffic conditions, the transmission may shift into neutral or possibly have an engine shut down condition, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.” This quote is from your own website, yet I can’t get any remedies from Maserati. This needs to be known that all affected cars were not recalled. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE IVE OWNED THE CAR. IT STILL HAPPENS TODAY. I’ve nearly been Tboned in traffic because my car switched to neutral. Help. I feel like this is falling on deaf ears. Several of these cars are now coming up for sale on the used car market and people need to know that these cars are dangerous.

The 2014 Maserati Ghibli with VIN number [XXX] has been experiencing significant wiring issues, which have resulted in the car shutting off unexpectedly while driving this is a danger to drivers because as the car shuts off steering the vehicle is almost impossible brakes barely work and the car just rolls until it stops manufacturer/dealer replicated the problem and fixed it for a whooping $5300 there were absolutely no warning lamps,error messages etc dealer states "engine injection wiring harness" and angolar speed sensor per dealer notes "the engine was intermittently loosing power. There is a recall for a rear differential issue and Maserati had previously repaired the differential. However, the problem has persisted and I have about 41k miles on the vehicle and already having the same issue. There is a whining noise in the rear along with a leaking rear differential. Both signs of the original problem. Maserati has stated that the repair has already been done but this raises a serious safety concern as it could result in the rear differential locking up and causing an accident.

While driving on the highway the vehicle shut off and would not start. All electrical power was lost.
