2018 MAZDA CX-5 Complaints

ENGINE HEAD HAS CRACK ON IT, CAUSING OIL TO LEAK OUT AND BURN AND SMOKE. IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE ENGINE/CRACK, MANIFOLD NEED TO BE REMOVED. LEAKAGE IS IN THE BACK OF THE ENGINE. THIS MUST BE MANUFACTURED DEFECT. MY MAZDA HAS LESS THAN 45000 MILE ON IT. UNFORTUNATELY WARRANTLY IS NO LONGER VALID. UNLESS A RECALLED IS ISSUE, A REPAIR WILL BE FREE OF CHARGE TO CURRENT OWNER. OTHER WISE OPERATOR HAS TO CONSTANTLY KEEP ADDING OIL.

The lighting system on the 2018 Mazda cx-5 base sport model has it so that during the daytime, the low beams continuously run. This and the continuously lighted dashboard make it hard to tell when you need to turn on the headlight/tail lights, since the headlights are always on. These arent even side drls, they are full low-beam lights. I've seen many Mazda cx-5 base models that do not have auto headlights drive around with there without any taillight and makes it dangerous for traffic behind to see the vehicle. Additionally, when others borrow the car, they always never turn on the headlight because there is no indication that anything needed to be turned on unlike older cars where the dashboard is fully black when the headlight/taillight is off.

Hydraulic lift adjuster failure causing loud engine knocking. Vehicle cannot be driven and costs thousands of dollars in repairs. The engine is only at 42,000 miles.

Touch screen malfunctions, causing actions to take place without being touched. The phone randomly hangs up or randomly calls people. The GPS moves the cursor away from the car making it impossible to follow directions. The radio will go to full volume. The screen will change settings randomly. This is very distracting and dangerous, makes drivers more likely to get in an accident. The touch screen itself is rarely used and has never been damaged. This problem has been reported on many Mazda forums and there has been a recall for the touch screen for the years up to 2017, but the 2018 models have the same screens and are also experiencing "ghost touching". Dealers are charging $1200 to replace. Later models also need to be recalled.

Cracked cylinder head oil drips onto exhaust manifold smoke gets into cabin and could cause fire on exhaust manifold car was purchased used 5/22 and with 46732 miles and now has 74000 in 2/24 it is now at central Maine Chrysler jeep where we purchased it having repairs done under extend warrantee that we bought with the car.we spoke with the service department at a mazda dealer and they said it is very common i feel that mazda should recall it passengers should not have to breath oil fumes or risk being in a car fire we are lucky to have purchased the warrantee but without it the repairs would be to cost prohibitive for the average person thanks

Transmission is continuously jerking at lower and higher speeds While driving in traffic or in parking lot areas

vehicle stalls with three warnings showing at high speeds (over 55 mph) Errors dashboard: 1. Smart brake system malfunction 2. Forward smart brake system malfunction 3. Front radar sensor system malfunction

Vehicle engine has stalled multiple times at low speeds. Vehicle will not restart immediately. In order to get vehicle to restart, gas must be revved while pressing start button to get engine to restart. It appears as if fuel is not being delivered to engine. Electrical components remain functional. Vehicle was inspected by dealer and issue could not be recreated. No issues were found. No warning lights displayed or codes found upon inspection. No symptoms of problem; occurrence is sporadic. It has caused traffic and safety hazards due to stalling in roadways.

-cylinder head cracked resulting in leaking and burning oil from rear of cylinder head by exhaust manifold. Car has since been repaired by Mazda, but pictures are available from the incident. -Car was unsafe to drive due to leaking oil all over road (Environmental risks and hazard to others), black smoke and burning smell circulated into cabin via AC (health risks to passengers). Prolonged driving in this condition would have resulted in loss of oil and further damage to the car and others. -Car was towed to independent service center then subsequently towed to Mazda dealership -Mazda dealership inspected and confirmed that it was a manufactured defect that they have seen with other cars. Mazda has a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) issued as well. -No warning lamps appeared prior to observed smoke and leak, though it was noticed that the car did jerk slightly at times when stopped at a traffic light

The contact owns a 2018 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 75 MPH, the sunroof glass shattered without impact. The contact stated that the glass shards fell onto her; however, no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
