  • 2026 MERCEDES-BENZ GLC 300 4MATIC
    - Mason City, IA

I was parked for a few minutes and I suddenly noticed a strong oder coming into my vehicle. I could not pinpoint what the smell was, but I knew that whatever was coming into the SUV was not safe. My screen started flashing warnings "Service Required: Do Not Drive" “Do Not Shift Gears”. After the warning, white smoke started to roll out from under the hood and into the vehicle. I immediately ran back to get my baby out of her car seat and to safety. I was at my local YMCA and staff ran out to I assist me and had a fire extinguisher. YMCA called the police and fire department. Both were dispatched to the scene. I called my husband for help while we waited for police & fire to arrive. My husband popped the hood and we saw large blue flames coming out from the transmission or the engine and we notice that transmission fluid started to leak under the vehicle. My husband put the fire out with the fire extinguisher. A police report was made. I contacted the dealership immediately. I contacted my auto insurance agent the next morning. The fire dept. used heat guns to test the heat level in the engine area. Prior to this, I did not have any issues with the vehicle. I believe this to be some type of mechanical or electrical malfunction or failure, based on the white smoke and blue flames. My daughter and I were put at extreme safety risk. If my husband and the YMCA staff did not assist, I feel that we would have lost our lives. With the large amount of smoke rolling into the air, children entering & leaving the YMCA were exposed to smoke/oder. Police had the vehicle towed to a tow lot near by to await Mercedes to pick up the vehicle and tow it to the dealership that I got the car from, so that it can be inspected. That was on 06/01/26. It is now 06/11/26 and Mercedes has not picked up the vehicle from the tow lot as they had confirmed that would be taking care of it.

****Please force Merces to recall all VIN's!******* NHTSA ID Number: 23V854000 1) Front glass roof panel came off while driving the car on the freeway. I didn't see or hear anything. When I got out of the car, I saw the entire piece has come off. This has caused my sunroof to malfunction, and it won't close now. I garage my car and barely drive it. I bought it used in Dec. 2021. There was about 46,000 on it in Dec 2021 and now (June 2026) the mileage is 51,000. Yes, the car is available for inspection. 2) I was on the freeway, didn't see it come off. No cars immediately in front or behind me. 3) There have been many complaints that this has happened, but Mercedes won't fix it and just say our VIN's are not part of the recall. Mercedes has not taken responsibility that this has affected more cars than they are admitting to. Mercedes says my VIN is not on their list too. 2018 Mercedes C 300 4Matic Sedan- 4) I will take to a Mercedes Dealership to get an estimate soon. 5) No warning lights or sounds.

  • 2025 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG G63
    - San Diego, CA

While driving on a California freeway at highway speed, the vehicle unexpectedly decelerated and the seatbelts tightened as though a collision avoidance or emergency safety system had activated. There was no apparent vehicle, obstacle, or roadway hazard present that would explain the event. The incident occurred while family members, including a child passenger, were in the vehicle. The unexpected deceleration and seatbelt tightening created a significant safety concern because it occurred at freeway speeds without warning. Shortly after the incident, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle was taken to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership for inspection. The dealership documented our complaint that the vehicle slowed on its own and that the seatbelts tightened when no other vehicle was around. The dealership later stated that it was unable to duplicate the concern and reported no fault found. Prior to this event, the vehicle had experienced multiple electronic-related issues, including failure to recognize the key while it was inside the vehicle, repeated "missing key" warnings while driving, and other warning messages requiring dealership diagnosis and software updates. After the freeway incident, the Forward Collision Warning returned, increasing concerns that the vehicle's collision avoidance or driver assistance systems may not be operating correctly. Because of the unexpected freeway deceleration, seatbelt tightening, warning messages, and prior electronic issues, we no longer have confidence in the vehicle's safety and reliability. The cause of the incident remains unknown.

In a few months after drove the car , I notice about the break having the problem, I took the car to S.M repair center,. Then again, a few months after the same problem, then Mr. Antonio Aranda, the service advisor, has indicated that the car break has been ok and there is no issue. For the 3rd time I took the car to them with the new problem as a very loud explosion sound and a big spark when I was driving on the freeway, witch it call pyrofuse activatin high voltage pyrotechnic disconnect. It basically computer battery electrical failure. When we told Mr. Antonio about he went under the car and took a picture and then showed us a whole and told us because we drove over a bump on the road without testing the car ( study show the whole created by the explosion ), I told him about 6 time that there is no bump in the road we take, and 1 time after we find out on that report. again, I made appointment to Beverly Hills MB last week because the car suddenly pulled to the right lain and almost hitting the car on the right lain While when I was waiting for my appointment then this Catastrophic situation happened to me, I was exiting from [XXX] that going home, after a few minutes my car has Jolted toward the front with the strongest way and locked up the car and stopped, which is Phantom Braking Emergency break malfunction, also called Catastrophic Uncommented Deceleration. i have to mention the car has been drove for 14000 miles since 2024 duo to the dangerous matters I was 4 mints away from my grave only because of the MB dishonesty and lie. • 2021 MERCEDES-BENZ GLB 250 4MATIC
    - Fairmont, WV

While driving on the highway at 70mph my transmission malfunction warning light illuminated in red and my vehicle went into limp mode, creating a life threatening safety defect at highway speeds. I immediately took the vehicle to Mercedes Benz of Pittsburgh. The dealer's own diagnostic tech notes stated 'software is in preparation for concern' confirming this is a known safety defect on Mercedes' end. The dealer was unable to replicate the concern or produce stored fault codes but acknowledged software is actively being developed to address this issue. I contacted MBUSA who confirmed the only escalation path available is a buyback, meaning Mercedes cannot provide a timeline for the software fix. I am currently unable to safely drive my vehicle and am requesting this be investigated as a potential safety defect that may affect other 2021 Mercedes GLB 250 owners.

  • 2021 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG GLC43
    - RALEIGH, NC

At just 30,000 miles — less than half the mileage at which these failures are typically reported — my GLC 43 was found to have active oil leaks in multiple locations: 1. Front engine covers — oil is seeping from both the front cover gasket area and migrating downward along the engine block. The dealer recommends a full reseal of the front covers at a quoted cost of $1,944. 2. Radial shaft sealing ring of the front axle gear — is actively seeping gear oil, with a quoted repair cost of $1,718. My concern is not limited to cost. Oil migrating from the front cover area toward the lower engine, accessory belt, and turbocharger assembly creates a documented fire risk. The turbocharged M276 engine operates at extremely high surface temperatures in the areas where this oil is accumulating. I will be candid: I have genuine concern about operating this vehicle until these repairs are completed, and I am troubled that a safety-relevant failure of this nature is occurring at such low mileage on a vehicle in this price class.

  • 2020 MERCEDES-BENZ A 220
    - Austin, TX

While driving at highway speed, I experienced a sudden loss of engine power with no warning. This created an immediate safety hazard for myself and other drivers. The vehicle was diagnosed by Mercedes-Benz of Georgetown as requiring a full engine replacement (~$19,000). This failure is consistent with a known defect in the 2.0L M260 engine used in the 2020 A220, involving premature wear of exhaust valve seat rings and valve guides, causing leaking valves, loss of compression, and catastrophic engine failure. Mercedes-Benz of Georgetown performed a warranty cylinder head replacement on this same engine just five months prior (12/09/2025). The vehicle has been serviced primarily at the authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer, driven under 10,000 miles/year, and purchased new in January 2020. Mercedes-Benz USA has acknowledged the defect by covering engine parts but is refusing to cover $6,733.38 in labor costs, leaving me with a $5,000 out-of-pocket expense for their manufacturing defect. • 2019 MERCEDES-BENZ C 300
    - Richmond , TX

My 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe’s front driver seat belt will not fully retract to its stowed position. This creates THREE safety hazards: 1.Passenger Trip Hazard: The extended belt causes difficulty when exiting from the rear seat — passengers can easily trip over the non-retracting belt 2.Door Damage Risk: Belt gets stuck in the door, preventing proper closure and potentially damaging the door or wearing down the seat belt webbing 3.Safety System Failure: A belt that doesn’t retract properly may not fully restrain occupants in a crash, compromising the seat belt safety system Dealer Response: My dealership told me this is “out of pocket” repair cost, even though the identical retraction issue exists in 2017–2021 C-Class Cabriolet (A205 platform) vehicles that ARE covered under Safety Recall 21V-032000. Mercedes fixed this with damping foam adjustment in the recalled Cabriolets but is refusing the same repair on C300 Coupes. Defect Pattern: This is the same design flaw in the front seat belt retractor geometry that caused the recall. The distance between the retractor and damping foam within the B-pillar doesn’t meet production specifications. Safety Risk: If occupants find the belt inconvenient due to poor retraction, they may not wear it — increasing crash injury risk. No advance warning of retractor failure exists. Request: NHTSA should investigate whether the C300 Coupe should be included in this recall or if a separate recall is needed for the same defect. Vehicle Info: 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe
