2024 MERCEDES-BENZ EQB 250+- McKinney, TX
Electrical System/Climate Control/Energy Management DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: On XXX, I exited my 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ at a parking lot in [XXX] to briefly enter a business. I left the vehicle running in Park and I took the key fob with me and left the climate control (AC) active. Three occupants remained inside the car: my wife, son, and dog. Without any warning, alert, or notification to the remaining occupants, the car automatically shut down its drivetrain and climate control system after approximately 5 to 10 minutes of idle time. The interior temperature in TX in summer conditions can reach dangerous levels within minutes of AC loss, creating a life-threatening situation for car occupants. The car provides no prominent warning to the driver at the time of exit that this automatic shutoff will occur. There is no accessible, clearly labeled setting to disable this behavior. The only known workaround — pressing a small fan icon on the lower display screen before opening the door after powering off — is non-intuitive, undisclosed in routine car operation, and limited to approximately 30 minutes. This design is in stark contrast to competing electric cars (e.g., Tesla) which offer an explicit, clearly labeled "Keep Climate On" or "Dog Mode" feature that maintains cabin temperature indefinitely when occupants are present. In high-heat states such as Texas, where temperatures routinely exceed 100°F, an unexpected and unannounced climate system shutdown poses a serious and foreseeable risk of heat stroke, injury, or death, particularly to children, elderly individuals, and animals who cannot self-rescue. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this as a potential safety defect and evaluate whether Mercedes EQ cars equipped with this automatic idle shutoff behavior require a design change, software update, or recall to add adequate safeguards. No crash or injury occurred in this incident. This complaint is being filed to prevent future harm. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA

2026 MERCEDES-BENZ GLE 350 4MATIC- Pacific Grove, CA
On May 26, 2026 I was driving our new Mercedes 2026 GLE350 to [XXX]. The car had 737 miles on it, when it died in traffic on [XXX]. The car was purchased new on April 11, 2026 from the Mercedes dealer in Monterey, CA. When the car died in traffic, an emergency message appeared on the screen "Automatic brake assist not working, Stop the car immediately, Do Not Drive". I was barely able to cross two lanes of traffic in order to get to the right shoulder of the very busy freeway. The dealer in Monterey was contacted and said it sounded like an electrical issue. The car was towed to the nearest Mercedes dealer in Stevens Creek, San Jose Ca. (phone [XXX]) The service advisor at Stevens Creek is named Erica Flores. After 4 days at that dealership, she advised us that they "were unable" to duplicate the problem and that a software fix would have to be addressed by the main shop in Germany. No one knows when the software will be available. We were able to get copies of the repair order, Invoice number XXX. The car was returned to us and we drove back home to Pacific Grove, CA without any other issues. On XXX my wife was once again traveling to [XXX]. At approximately 1:15 pm the car did the exact same thing. Losing power while she was traveling at 65 miles per hour on the busy [XXX]. Again, the computer screen displayed several messages including the braking system, the cooling system and instructed her to turn the car off immediately and not to drive. The car now has approximately 1150 miles on it. We notified the dealer in Monterey Ca, and also the dealer in San Jose (Stevens Creek). My wife spoke again with Erica Flores at the Stevens Creek Mercedes dealer. Erica told my wife she could not help her and that all they could offer is a storage facility for us, with a cost of approximately 160 dollars per day. These issues represent a major safety concern which needs to be addressed by M.B. USA. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2021 MERCEDES-BENZ GLA 250- Fernandina Beach, FL
Cowl vent grille openings allowed normal environmental debris to accumulate, plug drainage and divert water onto electrical components and potentially result in a fire if not addressed. Some of the debris passes through into the hvac system and cannot be cleaned without dealer removal/repair of the hvac motor, which costs the customer more than $500 in repairs and disincentivizes mitigation. Furthermore, Mercedes is aware of the problem, has not issued a customer satisfaction recall, and instead, is charging customers more than $1,000 to install a plastic protective shield to prevent accumulation of debris, clogged water management, and risk of fire.

2024 MERCEDES-BENZ C 300 4MATIC- santa fe , NM
Dealership: Mercedes-Benz of Santa Fe, 2586 Camino Entrada, Santa Fe, NM 87507 I am filing this complaint regarding multiple unresolved safety defects in my 2024 Mercedes-Benz C300 persisting across numerous repair visits since February 2026. Defect 1 – Recurring Strut Assembly: Following an AC sensor replacement on February 11, 2026, a loud rattling noise emerged from the dashboard/strut area. The vehicle was retained 22 days without resolution. The strut plate was repaired, but the noise recurred. Parts were ordered for the strut assembly, requiring me to drive the defective vehicle for approximately two additional weeks. As of June 8, 2026, the noise remains unresolved. A defective strut assembly affects handling, stability, and steering — creating serious risk at highway speeds. Defect 2 – Safety Systems Disabled: Following the strut plate repair, all driver assistance systems — including collision avoidance and lane keeping — were completely disabled. A warning message confirmed the systems were inoperable. A subsequent software update was required to restore them. Defect 3 – Check Engine Light; Dealer Advised Continued Operation: While driving with the unrepaired strut assembly, the check engine light illuminated. I have photographic evidence. Service Manager Simon explicitly advised me it was safe to continue driving. I contest this. I was not provided a loaner vehicle. Inaccurate Service Records: On June 5, 2026, service notes falsely stated the check engine light was not illuminated. I presented photographic evidence to service representative Robert Rodriguez, who verbally confirmed the photograph. The record was not corrected, potentially obscuring defect patterns from NHTSA review. I respectfully request NHTSA add this complaint to the public database, investigate whether this model has a safety-related defect pattern, and review the dealership's practice of advising consumers to operate vehicles with known structural defects.
