In less than one year with this car, 2016 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER SPORT, is hesitating when accelerating then jerking forward into 4th gear, while driving at various speeds, the steering column vibrates makes loud sound, I’ve replaced the headlights at least 6x, water is getting in the vehicle somehow even a car wish will leave the floorboards soaking wet, the steering sways. This car had given me more issues in a year than all my cars throughout my lifetime combined and vehicle's vin number was NOT INCLUDED IN MANY SAFETY RECALLS. CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF THE CRASH.

    1) 12/20/2024: Took the car to a Mitsubishi dealer as the 'Check Engine Light' was ON for a few days. They erased the code but could not diagnose the cause. Returned home and could NOT charge the car using the same standard outlet (level 1) I used since I bought the car. The instrument cluster displayed the following (Please see Pic 1): a) Error message 'PHEV System Fault, Service Required'. b) Check engine light. c) Forward Collision Mitigation System [FCM] OFF warning light. d) Rear Automatic Emergency Braking [Rear AEB] system OFF warning light. e) Plug-in hybrid EV system warning light. Since 12/20/2024, I have been driving the car with these serious safety issues. 2) 1/2/2025: 'On-board charger' was replaced by the dealer. But the same error continued. Per dealer invoice, they "performed drive cycle pattern 3 and the code returned". Obviously under certain conditions, the erased code returned. 3) Since mid-November, 2024, I have been noticing two different EV range mileage. Please see Pic 2. My phone app showed (on 1/26/2025) a 51 mile EV range whereas the instrument cluster showed only a 39 mile range. All the errors still remain as of 1/26/2025. 4) Opened a case with Mitsubishi but they are refusing to respond with updates. With so many safety issues due to 'PHEV System Fault', I am afraid of taking the car out.

My car started with remote starter app x2. I went out to the car and it would not start. Indicator light said to put fob near start button. Still didn't start. Jump started and had multiple malfunction lights on. Replaced batter with brand new battery. Followed all instructions. Forward collision and blinds pot warning malfunction errors persist and those features will not work. Research shows this can can severe vehicle malfunction and cause an accident. Dealer can't look at it for 8 weeks.

The touchscreen does not work. This creates a safety issue as hands free driving is no longer am option. There are 1000s of complaints directly to Mitsubishi and they're not doing anything about it. The response is basically "we're aware our equipment failed, go to a dealership and pay to have it replaced" That should not be the consumer's out of pocket cost as Mitsubishi is fully aware of faulty equipment and needs to be held responsible. Everyone's safety is at risk because of this default.

  • 2006 MITSUBISHI RAIDER

Upon attempting to exit the cul-de-sac the contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift into reverse, after which the contact shifted the vehicle back into drive. Immediately upon shifting back into drive the vehicle aggressively accelerated independently, causing a brief loss of control of the vehicle. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle brought the vehicle to a complete stop and switched the vehicle off; deciding then to discontinue driving the vehicle. In the morning where I live for the last few days it has been below 0. The Outlander PHEV even when plugged in over night will start the gas engine and drive for about one minute until the gas engine shuts off and comes up with a message saying power reduced with a turtle symbol. When it does this you have no heat (HVAC) the heated seats and heated steering wheel does not work as well as the front and rear defrost. The car speed seems to be limited to about 40MPH. This issue is not news as many PHEV owners are dealing with the same issue, From my understanding Mitsubishi didn't install a battery warmer on the new generation Outlander PHEV however the prior generation Outlander PHEV did have a battery warmer and there were no issues with that model in cold climates. Your vehicle should always be a reliable source of heat when needed it doesn't seem to be very reliable in cold climates and it really is a hazard when it decides to reduce power with no warning.
