Transmission light frequently comes on, car stalls/sluggish to respond. Has occurred while driving or at rest. No change despite several transmission servicing/towing expenses. Per online research, others experiencing same issues. Often resolves temporarily by turning off engine and restarting car. Recalls issued for other Mitsubishi models, but not for this car. Needs to be addressed to prevent injury or loss of life.

For the past 3 winters since I had this vehicle when it is cold outside the vehicle starts hard or will not start at all requiring a jump. It will not shift gears, or accelerate. The battery light comes on after the vehicle is running. I have called the local dealership and was told this happens when it is cold. I was told to bring the car in and let it sit there when it's cold so they can try and re create the problems they stated the battery is fine. As of today the vehicle started to leak oil after it started hard. When i purchased the vehicle i had noticed the hood shakes and bounces when driving. I mentioned this to the sales agent and they stated it was a known issue and they would recall the hood but it was a timely process. It is unsafe to drive a vehicle that will not accelerate or change from reverse to park and then roll It is also.unsafe to drive with oil leaking in your car I have made my vehicle available each time there is a situation The battery light comes on but has been tested at the dealership in the last 2 months This happens every time it's cold i call and they tell me itsa known issue when it's cold. When i purchased the vehicle I noticed the hood bouncing I asked the sales person about it and they said it was a known issue and they would fix it when the parts came in. I should have been more careful as it was a vehicle right off the truck.

The touchscreen controlling many functions and settings of the vehicle failed. That means there are numerous settings and driving options that can no longer be accessed and that any functions requiring touch such as navigation, music, and others requires using your connected device while driving (meaning looking and touching your phone while driving). This creates unsafe driving conditions for the many thousands of drivers that have experienced this problem. There is a very large community on the internet saying that Mitsubishi should issue a recall, but Mitsubishi doesn't seem to care at all. They do, however, encourage the many that are having the problem to go to their service department and have the whole infotainment/ control computer replaced to the tune of about $4000. Seems like a blatant money grab to me-- one that is causing thousands of drivers who cannot or will not undergo that $4000 expense to drive a vehicle where they do not access to all setting controls and are required to fiddle with their phone while driving. Very unsafe.

The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) system failed. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The failure caused the vehicle to lose acceleration, delay response to the gas pedal, and jerk while driving. These issues made it unsafe to drive, as the car could not maintain a consistent speed, risking accidents, especially in traffic or during merging. Yes, the issue was confirmed by the dealer, Jim Shorkey Mitsubishi North Huntingdon, after inspection. They verified the problem and provided diagnostic codes indicating internal transmission failure (P0776, P0868, P0446). 01-16-25 The vehicle was inspected by the dealership’s service department. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Yes, warning lamps or messages were displayed prior to the failure about 7-14 days prior. The symptoms, including delayed acceleration, jerking motions, and loss of power, appeared suddenly on [XXX]. On January 12 at 9:54am I was driving less than a 1/4 of a mile. I stopped at a stop sign and my cabin was filled with smoke. I thought it was coming from the engine so i turned the heat off for the car. I proceeded to the next stop sign and I then realized that my driver side seat was on fire and the smoke was coming out from between my legs for the seat was burning from the inside. I have taken the car to the dealership and it is reported that there is a faulty heating element in the seat. The car can not be started for each time the car is started the fire reignites. Due to the air bags being attached to this same control panel I can not drive the car off the lot. This car is a huge safety issue.

The contact's son-in-law owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that the vehicle had been gifted to her grandson by his father, however when the vehicle was being inspected the contact noticed that the rear tail lights had not illuminated when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V564000 (Exterior Lighting), however the vehicle was not part of the VIN selection. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.

I am the original owner of this vehicle. During the last state inspection I was told and shown the cross member bar is starting to rust. In researching cross member bars with Mitsubishi this seems to be an ongoing problem with their vehicles. I would like them to replace this part on my vehicle, too, since there is a current recall on cross member bars on later vehicles and models.
