2023 NISSAN ROGUE Complaints

I was going about 30 mph and slowing to turn into my driveway, when my rear window exploded, I thought someone shot it out. I went to dealership and they said it's not covered by my warranty and that they have heard of this happening. So Nissan knows this is a problem yet they refuse to recall it. I've had the car 1 month, I purchased it on February 23, 2026 and this occurred on March 24, 2026. I'm also aware that there is a class action suit against them for this problem, they are trying to say it's wear and tear.

After a routine oil change, the check engine light came on and would not go off. Soon after the idling warning came on, blinking and indicating a system malfunction. The vehicle has been inspected by the Nissan dealership in my area and the piston has been damaged in the engine. This has put my family and myself at risk of having possible engine failure and possible car accident.

Case #XXX for my 2023 Nissan Rogue SL VIN [XXX] . The vehicle is subject to Recall Code R25D1 (ROGUE MY21-23 KR ENG XXX), involving CVT bearing deterioration and metallic debris circulating within the engine. My vehicle has exhibited rough operation and was inspected at Wood Nissan in Lee’s Summit, where no defect was acknowledged. CVT LIGHT COMES ON AND SAYS POWER MAY BE REDUCED IN LIMP MODE. MIL LIGHT CAME ON MOTOR IS MISS FIRING

I am reporting a premature corrosion issue on my Nissan Rogue with approximately 25,000 miles. Rust has developed on the roof panel, which is highly unusual for a vehicle of this age and mileage. The vehicle was purchased in early December 2025. To my knowledge, this condition was not disclosed by the selling dealer, CarMax, along with other issues identified after purchase. To the best of my knowledge, the vehicle has been properly maintained and not involved in any accidents, as none were reported or disclosed. The rust appears to be developing under or through the paint, suggesting a defect in factory paint or corrosion protection. I first brought the vehicle to Mossy Nissan on February 11, 2026, and was referred to their body shop, which completed a report on February 12, 2026. However, the dealership did not submit the claim to Nissan until March 4, 2026, causing a delay. After submission, I was contacted about a week later for mileage. Despite multiple follow-ups from me, there was no timely response. I was asked again to bring the vehicle for inspection, which I did promptly. After these delays, I was informed the claim was denied without a satisfactory explanation. Given the roof location and the vehicle’s condition, this raises concerns about a possible manufacturing defect and the claims process. Premature corrosion may affect long-term integrity and value. I request this be investigated as a defect in materials or workmanship and that Nissan provide an appropriate repair. I also request review of whether this condition should have been disclosed at the time of sale.

The most recent incident the emergency brake locked on and the dash flashed system malfunction , maintenance needed, , emergency braking system shut down and several indicators were shut down . This continued for 90 minutes while I was on the phone with Nissan and was waiting for the tow truck when arriving at Nissan 72 miles away , they were not able to find any codes and the car was fine no issues . Luckily I have video to back my story . I have pictures and videos of other times it has done this , but no one will look into why it keeps doing this and it’s done it several time over 2 1/2 years . They changed the stop /start button and it helped but now it’s starting to flash the emergency braking system is off again which is a build up to a major episode again. My rogue has less than 40, 000 miles on it and has been one issue like this after another with them slapping band aides on it and not finding the source of the problem. They even claim it cleared the bearing failure test but the test was preformed while it was on route to Nissan on a tow truck .

I am reporting a safety issue with my 2023 Nissan Rogue Platinum involving engine failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for repairs under warranty and remained there for approximately 8 months. I was only provided a loaner vehicle for one month during this time. After finally receiving the vehicle back, the engine is still not running properly and the issue appears unresolved. An engine malfunction or loss of power while driving could create a serious safety risk. Given the extended repair time and unresolved defect, I believe this issue should be reviewed for safety concerns.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic where the DTC for a failure with the turbo charger was retrieved. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where no errors codes were retrieved; however, the check engine warning light returned two weeks later, and the vehicle was returned to the dealer. The dealer then performed an engine cylinder pressure test which determined that the cylinder head had failed, and coolant was moving through the turbo charger assembly and the catalytic converter. Due to the damage, the contact was advised to replace the engine. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V080000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) which was associated with the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was informed that since the vehicle had not produced DTC: P0424 (Engine Oil Pressure Low) the recall did not apply to the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle had qualified for a Goodwill repair. The contact escalated the issue to a supervisor and was informed that any decision made by the manufacturer was the final decision. The contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

The contact owns a 2025 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal banging sound coming from the vehicle. In addition, the vehicle jerked back and forth and was shaking abnormally. The check engine warning light was illuminated. There was white smoke coming from the exhaust. The contact attempted to drive the vehicle to the shoulder of the road, and the engine seized. While attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was driven a short distance, and the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was repeatedly restarted and driven short distances until the vehicle was onto the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the recall repair could not be performed because some of the parts were unavailable. The contact stated that the vehicle was used for transporting an elderly Aunt and nephew to medical appointments. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

While operating my 2023 Nissan Rogue, the panoramic sunroof exploded outward without any external impact. The incident occurred under normal driving conditions with no debris strike, collision, or environmental hazard. The explosion produced a loud sound consistent with owner reports in past Nissan sunroof cases, often described as similar to a "gunshot." The Glass front the sunroof rained down on myself, my wife, and our child. A Police report was taken of the incident as well as an insurance claim. This incident could have resulted in serious physical harm to myself, my passenger, and or other motorist had the glass gotten into my eyes as being the driver and possibly losing control of the vehicle and possibly hitting another motorist. This also could have caused injury to the passengers' eyes as glass was flying into the vehicle with the air from the outside was rushing into the vehicle.
