2023 NISSAN ROGUE Complaints

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.

The engine was replaced in this vehicle.Because it shut off while I was driving lost power and everything they replaced the engine.And then just for it to do it again, and a lady who was behind me had to kind of run herself off the road to avoid.Hitting me because she would have pushed me into another car.Hitting meSo she ran her car door but she didn't damage her car.

The contact inspected the vehicle but saw no visible leaks. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,400.

I started my vehicle, everything seemed fine, but once I reached my destination, the vehicles auto start/off activated which was normal. I was in a school line to pick up my child, once picked up my child and the auto start reactivated, that's when the problems be can. Once I exceeded 40 mph the car began to jerk violently, and as I tried to move over to the side of the road I couldn't fast enough the speed of the vehicle was locked at 5mph with the check engine light coming on and the "auto-start/off" indicator flashing, the violent jerking seemed to al so effect the vehicles air conditioning.

When I first purchased the vehicle I started to smell gasoline inside the vehicle and then it became worse and now I smell it outside and inside the vehicle my garage smells of gasoline. The engine on echo mode gets 35mpg which I was told it should be less than that. The engine loses power, it makes noises, is very rough felling when driving, it seems that the vehicle is getting worse by the day. The gasoline smell is so bad I have to get out of the vehicle because it starts burning my eyes and then I get chest pain/burning.

Draft Statement for NHTSA Complaint: My 2023 Nissan Rogue is subject to Recall No. 25V-437 for an engine defect involving the connecting rod bearings. This defect can cause sudden engine failure, loss of power while driving, or even fire. My dealership confirmed that no repair parts are available and will not be available until late 2025. Nissan Consumer Affairs also confirmed there is currently no remedy, and they denied my request for a buyback. This leaves me with a vehicle that has a known safety defect but no available fix for the foreseeable future. I rely on this car daily, but I do not feel safe driving it because it could suddenly stall or catch fire, putting me and others at serious risk on the road. The problem has been acknowledged by Nissan and confirmed by my dealer, but no repair, inspection, or alternative remedy has been offered. I have already experienced documented engine failure with this vehicle on 3 separate occasions with the “check engine” light coming on. I have zero confidence in driving this vehicle safely for myself, my family and others on the road. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance to ensure Nissan provides a timely remedy, as this defect significantly impacts the safety, use, and value of the vehicle.
