2017 NISSAN ROGUE- Newnan, GA
The car is slow to accelerate when stopped and after a few seconds will kick in and "peel out". It shutters, stalls, and goes fast. I was turning left on a yellow light and the car just stopped. The oncoming traffic had to slam on brakes, swerve to miss me and the car peeled out suddenly. I was nearly T-boned with my kids in car, then nearly hit other cars when accelerated extremely fast. The dealer did recreate the issue and says it needs a new CVT transmission for $7,500. No warning of this problem. I thought it was the fuel injector or bad gas at first and had the fuel injector cleaned. I was never told that Nissan is known for this problem. Once I took back to dealer at 101K miles, that's when I was told it needed replaced. Conveniently after the warranty expired. This was bought for Nissan Dealer as a "certified used car" but it is a very dangerous car to drive period.

I am getting the car fixed. we can ask nissan dealership to share failed transmission for inspection How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car was missing when driving and completely lost transmission. Car woudnt move when out in gear. I had to get car towed to mechanic and nissan service center Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, NISSAN dealership confirmed that transmission has failed and needs to be replaced with new Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, inspected by NISSAN service center Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No Warning messages in the car. The same day while driving, engine started missing. Same day, it stopped moving completely. Summary: Extremely disappointed with my 2017 Nissan Rogue. At just 35,000 miles, the transmission failed due to a known manufacturing issue. Car will not drive anymore when put in gear. Despite a $277.7 million settlement for defective CVT transmissions in vehicles like mine (2014-2018 Rogues), Nissan refuses to cover my full repair costs. Nissan, why aren’t you standing by your commitment to fix this? Loyal customers deserve better! [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While taking off from a stoplight, the car did nothing when I pushed on the gas-then it jumped into gear & took off abruptly. This has happened multiple times. Just last week, I was driving & it started revving at higher rpm’s. I had to pull over and shut the car off and restart.

On Wednesday [XXX], I brought my car to AutoNation Nissan in Pembroke Pines Florida due to non-functional windshield wipers. By Wednesday, August 21st, I was informed that not only were the windshield wiper motors inoperable, but a part called the engine harness was also required for repairs, and this part was not available. . I also reached out to my extended warranty program and spoke with Siena at Nissan Corporate, who provided me with case number [XXX]. The part number needed is ASSY-24012-6 MA OC. Despite my repeated follow-ups every three days with Sienna, I have been informed each time that the part remains on backorder with no estimated arrival date and that a loaner vehicle cannot be provided. Consequently, I am now forced to drive my car without windshield wipers, which is unsafe. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Three times in recent months vehicle has responded sluggish after coming to a stop. Two of those times were extended periods in stop amd go traffic greater than 20 minutes. 8/10/2024 event inexplicable as had stopped briefly and only driving for 5-10 minutes. Gas pedal must be fully depressed to get vehicle to move. When it finally responds it barely moves, RPMs Rev to 3,000 and stay there. In most recent episode 9/12/2024 I realized gas pedal was responding sluggishly after stopping for a light, but seemd to get in gear as normal. At 8 miles vehicle would barely resume rolling after a stop, gas pedal had to be floored, engine revved to 3,000 RPMs and acted like stuck in wrong gear, same as other 2 events. Like other times, no warning lights or gauges before or during event. After turning off vehicle and back on it returned to normal function, no indication there had been a problem. Not sure if this is a transmission problem or a computer problem, but a search of the internet reveals this is a common problem for Nissan Rogue owners. Many accounts read similar to mine. Not sure I can trust this vehicle anymore.

I was informed by a Nissan dealership over 3 years ago that both inner tie rods on my 2017 Nissan Rogue have play in them. The vehicle had less then 30,000 miles on it and was never in an accident nor was it ever driven off roads. They told me it would cost over $2,000.00 to make the repair because the tie rods were part of the power steering rack. In other words to replace the inner tie rods they had to replace the power steering rack as well. The vehicle was manufactured in Korea. I complained that this failure in the tie rods had to be a manufacturing defect but Nissan refused to cover the repair because my three year new car warranty expired. I just recently read that the NHTSA in August 5th of 2024 began an investigation on this matter with the 2021 model year Nissan Rogue SUV. I believe this matter is just not for the 2021 model year but at least model year 2017.
