2016 RAM 1500 Complaints

Brake Warning light on, ABS light on, traction control light on, cruse control disabled, 4 wheel drive disabled. Appears to be same issue as NHTSA Recall Number24V-896 but on 2016 Dodge Ram 1500.

The electric power steering system failed while I was driving. I was travelling at approximately 20mph the first time it stopped working and had just finished a turn onto a residential street. The dash said "service power steering" and the check engine light came on. I pulled the vehicle over, turned it off, then turned it on again and the power steering started working again but the check engine light was still on. Later that day, the check engine light turned itself off. I was driving on the freeway later that day and lost the power steering again travelling approximately 55mph. The vehicle became nearly impossible to steer and put myself and others on the road around me at risk due to the speed I was travelling and lack of control I had when the steering went out. Fortunately I was able to pull over and restart the vehicle and regain power steering to get my vehicle home. I have not taken the vehicle to a dealer yet.

The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V406000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL) and 23V411000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving 5MPH, the vehicle started to stall, then jerked back and forth before eventually shutting off. The fuel control sensor warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with high-pressure fuel pump failure. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired; however, the dealer informed the contact that the parts were on backorder. The failure mileage was approximately 168,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. The failure occurred on several occasions. The contact stated that the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,238.

—2016 Ram 1500 with 50,000 miles—ABS brake light and brake light came on. 2023 Took Ram into dealership to have it fixed and was told that the ABS module was out and that a new one would need to be ordered. Dealership said that they are on back order and I must pay for half of it before they order. I paid them to order it but it is still back ordered. Was told this is a common problem and should be a recall due to loss of braking. I also had them check a clicking noise and was told that the head of the bolt on the exhaust broke and was told by the dealership that this is a very common problem and should be a recall because exhaust is leaking at the manifold allowing for the exhaust to enter the cab possibly leading to exhaust toxicity. There are many online forums detailing all of these issues and the cost is exorbitant.

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, there was a loud booming sound coming from the roof of the vehicle. The contact later discovered that the glass sunroof had shattered and there were shards of glass falling from the roof of the vehicle. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. Additionally, after stopping at a traffic light, the vehicle fishtailed while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the cruise control feature was inoperable. The ABS, traction control, electronic stability control (ESC), and brake warning lights were illuminated. The "Service Traction Control" and "Service Trailer Brake System" messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the ABS control module needed to be replaced, but the part was on backorder. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control (ESC); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

The brakes stopped working on September of 2024. I had to slam the emergency brake pedal to come to a stop. I slid into a ditch which caused autobody damage. A mechanic told me the ABS no longer works on my truck. He gave me this code: C2200. He said it defines the ABS module has failed. He said Mopar currently had no ABS modules in stock because they are constantly being replaced. I cannot drive the truck until the ABS module gets replaced.

Warning lights are on for , service trailer brake system, service braking system and service anti-lock brake system. Was advised by independent mechanic that the ABS module needs to be replaced, and this part has been unavailable for over 8 months. Contacted dealer and they also advised part is unavailable and they did not know when it would be available. Vehicle is drivable, but probably not safe to do so.
