2015 RAM 1500 Complaints

While driving down the road, power steering light came on and lost all steering on the truck. Was luckily able to avoid another car and safely get the truck to the side of the road to get it towed.

Electric power steering randomly stops working. Can be very dangerous when you’re turning sharp and expecting it to return to center after the turn and it doesn’t.

Fuel sensor failure warning w/ accompanying check engine light. Fuel gauge non-functional. I ran code on it (forget the exact code) but YouTube mechanic showed how to fix by changing out the Fuel Sensor, which I did. Engine light went away. Been fine for a month and a half. It's now back to doing it again. Fuel Sensor Failure. I can't keep replacing these things, we're on a tight budget. I don't want to run out of gas somewhere due to not knowing how much I have.

The back up camera may or may not work. yes 2 It would be easy to back over a small child. 3 The problem was reported to a dealer and was told it could be a bad wire or a faulty radio system that would be expensive to repair.4 no 5 It began to mostly not work a couple years back

Good morning! I own a 2015 Ram Ecodiesel. I am not the original owner. I am in California. The truck is not under warranty and the FCC will not help me nor the dealership. A few months ago I was towing my horses in a trailer and the truck started to lose acceleration, started to over heat, black smoke was coming out from under the hood, and it almost lost power going up a hill. It was very scary and it almost caused an accident and my horses were terrified. I barely got it to drive up the hill and pulled over to safe place. The truck was smoking black smoke, smelled terrible, and we felt in danger. I took truck to dealership in San Luis Obispo CA. It was diagnosed with a bad intake manifold, bad fuel lines, bad egr cooler. The estimate in costs was about $7,000. Luckily my husband is a mechanic and he performed the repairs. Than the truck was back up and running, no more black smoke, and it sounded better. On [XXX] I was hauling my horses and small only 2 horse trailer, same trailer, it’s small, not oversized or too big for my truck….. the truck started to lag, lose acceleration and drive slow, then it started a knocking sound….. then a high pitch noise….. this was terrifying as we were on a very busy freeway. I pulled over and the engine started to smoke and make horrible noises like knocking and high pitch screeches. My husband and I and our two horses were once again stranded with a broken down truck. This time on a very busy freeway, highway [XXX] in California. The truck was towed to the dealership that day. We were stranded for hours with horses and no water on side of a freeway. The truck was diagnosed by Santa maria, CA dodge ram Chrysler with a blown up engine, that must be completely replaced. The repair is $20,000 or more. This is a common issue in these trucks. This truck is dangerous and needs to be recalled and taken off the road. All of these engines are bad and they should all be bought back. They were ruined after the emissions scandal. The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and was jerking before downshifting to 2nd gear. The lightning bolt symbol was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was diagnosed but was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The lifter is ticking for no reason I always use royal purple in my 2015 ram 1500 now for no reason out of no where it started to tick just driving to work. Now the more I research I find out that these hemi 5.7 engines are well known to tick because of the lift. If these lifters are well known to go out why haven't a recall been activated to fix the problem. I love my ram truck but now I'm going to have to spend money to fix it that I don't not have. That should recall these vehicles because this how they will lose customers.

The electric power steering fails when in low temperatures, Usually below 40 degrees. After the truck gets up to temperature the power steering starts working. It has not been inspected by anyone and it is unknown if it could be available for inspection. I have read on multiple forums of people having the same issue. There were no warning lamps present. It is a safety issue because it will happen when you are first taking off. For example it power steering will work coming down the driveway then when you get on the road it will go out, and after the truck gets to running temp. It will start working again.

ABS control unit and ABS pump failure, repaired and more failures. Repair is to keep buying new expensive parts that will fail again. This ABS system is poorly designed or the feedback control component is poorly designed. It doesn't work properly, repairing it is not answer, parts are back ordered for months or years AND IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE, HIGH SPEED SAFETY, WHERE PEOPLE DIE DUE TO NOT EMERGENCY STOPPING CORRECTLY. GET ON IT. HOW MANY FAILURES DO YOU NEED TO SEE?
