The truck was working fine, went to start it and the trucks electric power steering was no longer working. We brought to shop and got an est of $3,000-$4,000 to fix the repair. We didnt have the money at the time and brought the truck home. It proceeded to work randomly after a turn but next start up failed to work and has been like this for a year. There is a warning like that comes on that says abs system.

The vehicle is experiencing an intermittent and unpredictable loss of power steering assist. The steering becomes extremely stiff and difficult to turn, often immediately upon startup or while at a standstill, then randomly becomes loose again before returning to a stiff state. This creates a significant safety hazard as the effort required to steer changes without warning during operation. Upon inspection, the electrical connectors to the EPS rack were found to be clean and free of corrosion, suggesting an internal failure of the Electronic Power Steering motor or control module. This issue is identical to the safety concerns addressed in NHTSA Recall 16V-167 (S19), but this specific VIN is not currently included in that recall.

Vehicles brakes became spongy and almost no brakes at random. They work enroute to destination, almost completely failed at the destination, and started working again after restarting the vehicle. Dealership confirmed it is the ABS module, and cannot aquire the part at this time. They warned me this could happen on and off anytime.

There is a known issue about exhaust manifolds for my year model truck. A ram technician said in 2019 mopar created a new exhaust manifold for my truck that would be less likely to create soot buildup and warping in the exhaust manifold. In 2021 my EGR was replaced because of a recall but now my exhaust manifold has failed and needs to be replaced out of pocket even though it’s been a known issue and there was a remedy already made to alleviate the issue. Now because of soot buildup my throttle is limited until I have it fixed. But driving to a dealership is too far to be diagnosed as there has been cases of fires occurring when this issue occurs.

There is a recall for Ram 1500 manufactured between January 2015-September 2015 regarding failed power steering. My truck was manufactured February 2015 and was not on the list of specific Ram 1500s to have this recall done. I was with my kids getting an oil change on the truck. When I was leaving the maintenance bay my power steering suddenly failed and left us stranded to get towed. Chrysler stated that there was certain conditions that led for certain models to have recalls for this part, but not my truck. They could not give me a clear reason why mine was not included on the list.

Abs warning lights on. Fault c2200. Cruise control inoperable. 4wd inoperable. No parts available for repair. A quick google search shows this is a very widespread problem. I urge you to hold ram accountable for this defective part.

Afraid to drive it anymore and seen this issue was being investigated... This issue almost got me and my 3 boys into a wreck!
