2015 RAM 1500 Complaints

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle violently jerked while accelerated. No warning lights was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the tone rings delaminated and failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced the NHTSA Campaign Number 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000. The VIN was not available.

I own a 2015 Ram 1500 earlier this year I got a message on the vehicle indicating to service electronic braking system. The ABS light along with the Traction Control light and the Brake light came on at the same time. I took the vehicle to a mechanic to have it checked out. He indicated that the electronic braking module had failed and that it needed to be replaced. The part is not available anywhere. I have contacted dealers in different states as well as other Ram parts stores and it is not available. I have been trying to get this part for over 7 months. According to the mechanic the vehicle's ABS function will not work without this part nor the traction control either. Brakes work like the days of old pre ABS. When I contacted Ram they told me to have the dealer order the part and they could expedite it but the dealers tell me they can't order the part since it shows under engineering review and shows in their system the part will not be available until March 2024. How is it possible that a U.S. automobile manufacturer can not have a vital safety part unavailable for over a year. It is obvious that the part is faulty since it isn't available and there are numerous posts online from other Dodge, Ram and Chrysler owners that have had to replace this part. The part number my specific model is 68228991AD. It is my understanding that this same part is also used in Chrysler, Dodge, RAM, and Jeep models.

The contact pulled over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) was replaced; however, several months later, the failure recurred. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was then towed to Marion Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (44 Worley Rd, Marion, NC 28752) where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) needed to be replaced a second time. The dealer confirmed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,999. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

High pressure fuel pump may fail prematurely. Recall dated June 9, 2022 and after more than a year there is still no remedy.

WHILE MOVING TO SOUTH CAROLINA i NOTICED THAT SOMETHING WAS HANGING, A WIRE OR SOME TYP IF LINE, AS I CRAWLED UNDER THE TRUCK, I FOUND THAT IT WAS THE FUEL TANK STRAP. THE STRAP HAD PULLED OUT FROM THE FRAME THAT WAS CORRODED. I HAVE ALWAYS WASHED THE UNDER CARRIAGE COMING FROM MASSACHUSSETTS AND THE ROAD SALT. AT THE PRESENT TIME I AM USING A TIE DOWN STRAP TO SECURE IN PLACE. SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I FOUND THAT THERE IS SOME TYPE OF RECALL BUT NEVER RECIEVED ANYTHING IN WRITTING.

The exhaust manifolds have cracked. This can lead to dangerous fumes getting into cab and extra pollutants to the atmosphere. It can also cause premature engine failure which could be deadly if it happens while driving. This is a known defect with this engine. Thank you

While driving at low speeds the steering becomes difficult like the electric power steering is failing. It’s intermittent but is becoming more consistent. Feels like the power steering system is failing.

Air suspension began to fail over and over while driving causing the vehicle to become unstable. First dealer says it’s a air compressor, then it’s the manifold that controls the air, then they aren’t sure why it kept happening ended up needing to replace the rear air bags because they kept failing. Major safety concern almost flew off the highway because of how quickly the air got dumped.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue.
