2019 SUBARU IMPREZA Complaints

Frequent windshield cracking which obscures visibility. Third time windshield has cracked and needs to be replaced. It has been chipped and repaired twice as well.

The contact owns a 2019 Subaru Impreza. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number 22V624000 (Exterior Lighting) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the failure occurred while his daughter was driving the vehicle. The failure mileage was 20,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Left side light is very dim, very unsafe to use at night time. We cannot drive it at night.

Both front headlights provide very little visibility and do not shine far enough down the road to be safe at high speeds, especially in the mountains/low light areas. Have been waiting on a remedy from Subaru since being notified of the recall in October 2022.

The front headlamps on this vehicle are not bright enough and it is very hard to see when driving in areas that do not have street lights. Additionally, when it is raining hard, there are lots of puddles on the floor, making it even harder to see when there are obstructions or potholes in the road. I worry about getting into an accident because of low visibility caused by the defective headlamps. I called my local Subaru dealership today (2/22/23) and I asked whether I could fix the problem and then get reimbursed. I was advised not to do that and to let Subaru handle the issue. However, it has been over 5 months since this recall notice was sent out and there still hasn't been any remedy or even an explanation as to why the remedy is taking so long, or when a remedy can even be expected. Being that this is a safety recall that can cause serious accidents on the road, I need your assistance in urging Subaru to take this more seriously and provide a remedy to this ASAP.

While slowly pulling into a parking slot in a Wal-Mart parking lot, the car experienced an abrupt acceleration causing it to lurch forward at full throttle and it struck a parked vehicle in the next space. The accelerator pedal was not depressed. Upon investigation I discovered that there have been many reported incidents of this behavior with Subaru Imprezas, Foresters, Outbacks and Legacy sedans, engendering at least two lawsuits. I have a Subaru 2019 Impreza. When parked in my drive way on a Los Angeles winter day, I turned on my defroster and my windshield cracked at the bottom center of the glass. I assume this has to be a defect given Subarus are made for more extreme conditions.

The windshield on this vehicle is defective. Over time for no reason scratches have appeared. Additionally now chips have occurred for no apparent reason. I have gently used an ice scraper as needed after defrosting the windshield enough to make it practical, however, my scraper is in excellent condition and was not misused. This should not cause a windshield to break down. There are also waves in the windshield that make for an uneven appearance in spots.

I was driving at 50 mph, suddenly heard a noise coming from the windshield and saw a big crack on passenger side of the windshield. The crack grew very fast, crossing about 75 of the windshield. The two parts of the glass on the side of the crack became separated. The visibility through the windshield was impaired by the crack. This is the second time it happens to the Subaru windshield in a short time. The first time I replaced it by the original Subaru windshield and it cracked again.

While driving on highway, knee contacted key causing the ignition to turn off engine. Car began to decelerate. While care was still in drive, turned ignition switch on and engine returned.
