2022 TIFFIN ALLEGRO Complaints

In troubleshooting a power failure in the slide and leveling hydraulic system in this Class A RV, an electrical issue was discovered with the main powerline being frayed and corroded due to its placement next to the gas tank. It appears the power line may have been arching against the fuel tank. This seems like a very dangerous situation and should be reviewed. No incidents happened due to the discovery of this issue, and the powerline was repaired and moved away from the the fuel tank. If this was a repeated manufacturing issue by Tiffin, it should be investigated as it could cause a fire or worse explosion of the fuel tank.

Related to NHTSA Campaign number 22V273000 - Tiffin used Lippert Hydraulic parts for the 3 slideouts on our unit. two of the slideouts creep out on their own several inches. Tiffin tried to repair in January, 2024 but it has become worse since then. After contacting Tiffin, they sent us to Lippert which we have opened a case with them. Lippert continues to tell us that they know what the problem is but is not able to get the parts needed to fix this issue. This is a safety issue with slide outs creeping on their own while driving down the road. Tiffin continues to rollout vehicles with this issue.

Purchased this RV motorhome in December 2021. From day 1 of this purchase, I have experienced what is being called the "creepy slide syndrome". When the motorhome is parked on in motion, the two hydraulic slides will creep (extend) out about 2-4 inches and at times have been extended as far as 6 inches. Have had more than 5 service repairs, including one national recall performed and the problem still exists. Been in contact with both Tiffin, the manufacturer and Lippert, the hydraulic system manufacturer and there continuing, in my opinion, to kick the can down the road. Currently, they are saying there is a fix but no one can actually verify that is the case. Others who own Tiffin motorhomes continue to report the same problem. I filed a compliant several months ago but never heard anything further. There needs to be a second recall on this problem so that customers do not have to worry about safety issues and also so that customers do not continue to have to continue to have service appointments, at our expense, and continue to have the same problem.

The front suspension bumpstops are falling off of the Ford F53 chassis on many RV's made since 2020.

We purchased a 2022 Tiffin Open Rd. allegro motorhome and had the hydraulic pump replaced. The problem. Is that the slides creep out while driving and when the motorhome is parked?

My motorhome was part of the following recall: NHTSA #22V-273. We had that recall work performed during the summer of 2023. The problem that the recall was supposed to address (the hydraulic slide system "creeping out" on it's own) has now re-appeared. Clearly, the fix for this recall is not working. This issue needs to be re-escalated as it's not safe to drive the motorhome with the slides coming out on their own

Our unit was recalled previously under recall 22V273000 for the slide creeping out. The RV was supposedly repaired prior to leaving the factory. However, over the summer it began to creep out dangerously while driving. Again it was sent in for repairs and "fixed" Again the slide is moving out 5 or so inches while parked and when driving down the road. I am not sure how far out it would extend if I did not pull over and retract it. It also seems to be happening more frequently and moves out faster.

The coach has developed 5 stress fractures in the fiberglass body in a year of use. I am concerned that coach is at danger of losing part of its body while on the road. The dealer has repaired two of these fractures but three more have rapidly developed. These repairs were completed under Tiffin structural warranty. No warning prior to cracks developing.

Both hydraulic forward slide rooms creep out at will. This unit was purchased new in July 2023 and was in the shop for 3 months having issues addressed. The main issue is that these slide rooms creep/drift out on their own. The dealership says that we don't have the cylinders that were part of a recall. So they bled the existing cylinders and told us to hold the retract button for four seconds after the room slides are retracted which recharges the hydraulic system. We brought the RV home and immediately the slide rooms drifted out on their own. We are afraid to drive this RV any distance because the rooms may slide out on the highway and cause an accident. The maker of the hydraulics (Lippert) plans to replace the hydraulic pump and manifold, but based on other customers feedback...this will not fix the problem. We want to go on record that this should likely be investigated (see Tiffin/Lippert Slide Creep) on Facebook to read other's details. Lippert doesn't seem to have a solution at this point. This is a danger...not to mention a $275K investment that we are afraid to use.

Purchased Dec 2021. Immediate Hydraulic leak, repaired at dealer. Jan 2022- hydraulic slides creeping out 6-8 inches. March 2022- serviced at Tiffin in Red Bay. No solution for creepy slide. July 2022- received recall for creepy slide. Nov. 2022- Feb 2023. Picked up RV on Feb 9 at service center, completed recall for creepy slide. Before leaving service center, hydraulic pump went out and had to be replaced. In April 2023, I notified service center creepy slide issue continued. From that point, made several phone calls and sent numerous emails to Lippert (slide manufacturer) and Tiffin and Connecticut Motor cars and coaches, the service center I use to search for solution. After months, Sept 26, 2023- Lippert Tech came to my house to work on problem. Following that visit on Oct 10- sent picture to Lippert, creepy slide continues. Nov 30, 2023, which is tomorrow is next visit for Lippert Tech. Cautiously optimistic since the solution is replace same cylinders from recall that this will finally fix the problem. I was told by an Tiffin rep on the phone that Lippert’s solution is to replace the cylinders that were replaced during the recall and the Tiffin rep indicated they are still seeing the same creepy slide issues after the second cylinder are replaced. Everyday I have to go out and retract the slides so there is less wear and tear on rubber seals and to protect the slide from weather, especially freezing rain or snow. And driving down road, have to worry that slides are not going to start to extend. I have had to pull over at a rest stop to retract the slides more than once. There is a webpage dedicated to creepy slide issues that other Tiffin RV owners have written about the same same problem. Tiffin needs to recall and switch, at their cost, from Lippert slides to a more functional, safe slide manufacturer so that RVer’s feel safe and do not cause harm or injury to themselves or others.
