2022 VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 Complaints

I was parking the car in a parking lot. I turned left into the lot and then turned right into a spot and then decided to switch to the adjacent spot (also requiring me to turn right) to provide me with more room to park and leave the car. As I turned into the spot the car suddenly accelerated forward. I tried pushing the brakes and the car continued to accelerate and hit two fences. No indication of a collision by car, no engagement of the automatic emergency braking. No recognition of the car that there was a fence in front. No automatic braking/warning lamps. The vehicle was inspected only by the insurance agent and body shop for repair.

Manufacturer has failed to fix the recall problem in a timely manner. There is a long wait list at every dealership to get the recall fixed and no dealership knows when they will get the door handles in. Recall 57J9- Door Handles

The contact owned a 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 The contact stated while the driver was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated causing the vehicle to veer off the road, and control was lost. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a ditch, over a sound barrier, and in the middle of a neighborhood road where it came to a stop. The air bags did deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The driver suffered a mild brain injury, lung injury, and fractured ribs that required medical attention. The driver had an occupant in the vehicle during the failure who was his son and sustained a fractured femur that required surgery, a fractured clavicle, brain damage, and a mild concussion that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an impound lot. The insurance company was currently inspecting the vehicle and pending results. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Despite their inspections, they were unable to identify the source of the problem. 3. **Vehicle Details:** The car is relatively new, only 2.5 years old, and remains within the manufacturer's warranty period. 4. **Concerns:** The unresolved issue may pose a safety risk, particularly if the sound is related to critical drivetrain or suspension components. Additionally, repeated unsuccessful repair attempts by the dealer are frustrating. **Resolution Sought:** I would like the NHTSA to review this issue and investigate whether this is a broader concern with similar VW models. I hope VW can be held accountable for properly diagnosing and fixing the problem under warranty.

All is sudden I hear clicking noice from doors that make scary to drive the car with Kids. Couple of times it unlocked the rear passenger door. I had to to pull over to close and move. It’s been 2 years there are no software updates and center console struck, not responsive , some times reboot automatically, some times we need to force restart and rear camera doesn’t appear.

Car door opened on its own. Sometimes infotainment display goes black and becomes unusable.

There are 2 recalls on my vehicle that have been out there for many months with no resolution or updates from VW. 1 involves all screens locking up or going blank. the other involves the door opening on it's own. both are serious safety concerns

While exiting/entering from one highway to another, I was slowing down vehicle in curved ramp area to approximately 35mph from 65mph. The car's driver display (a warning banner) indicated that I had insufficient battery and that I should stop the vehicle. The battery was at 65%. I coasted vehicle to right shoulder of road. Steering was difficult. This area of highway access was under construction and I had a very limited space to stop car. The car then lost drive and stopped. Although I was in a narrow shoulder area, there were cars traveling behind me in ramp area. I put on hazard lights as a warning of my stopped vehicle so I would avoid getting hit. I waited 1 minute to re-start vehicle. Car re-started without faults or warning indicators and I was able to travel home.

Was coming to stopped traffic, suddenly car accelerated quickly and rear ended car in front, which then hit 2 cars in front. Event data recorder showed the acceleration; not sure what happened. Car has haptic button for adaptive cruise control and ? Engaged on resume button left side of steering wheel. VW says not a manufacturing defect. Fortunately no injuries - air bags did not deploy.

The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V651000 (Structure) and 24V344000 (Back Over Prevention, Equipment, Electrical System); however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel became inoperable. The contact stated that the instrument panel was blank. The contact restarted the vehicle for the instrument panel to function as needed. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer denied a buyback option for the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 16,600. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
