2022 VOLVO XC60- Colorado Springs, CO
On [XXX], at 82,371 miles, my daughter's 2022 Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge was diagnosed with DTC BECM-P0BBD92 (Hybrid/High Voltage Battery Pack Voltage Variation) and a confirmed Cell Module F failure (Repair Order #[XXX], Bob Penkhus Motor Co Volvo Cars, Colorado Springs, CO). The dealer instructed her not to charge the vehicle pending repair. The replacement part (Cell Module F, Part #36003341) has been on indefinite backorder since diagnosis — initially quoted at 6 weeks, still unavailable as of this report. This vehicle falls within NHTSA Recall 25V-179 (LG high-voltage battery modules, fire risk when fully charged and parked). NHTSA's VIN lookup shows this VIN as having no unrepaired recalls, which I believe reflects only a prior software-monitoring update rather than a physical hardware fix — this diagnosed cell failure occurred after that update, is consistent with the exact failure mode described in the recall, and cannot currently be repaired because the remedy part is unavailable. Volvo Cars USA opened and then closed a corporate case (#[XXX], closed June 19, 2026) declining further assistance, stating its only obligation is to repair the vehicle — which it cannot presently do. It has been 138 days with no resolution on this matter. My name is [XXX] (father) and I can provide notarized authorization to act on my daughter's behalf on this matter. Thank you very much for your kind assistance. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2025 VOLVO EX90- Hugo, MN
Failure of the onboard AC charging component, known as the Grid to High Voltage Converter A (GHCA) or onboard charger module. This vehicle would not charge on AC current, but could only be charged on DC current. This is a safety issue, as you may get stranded without access to a DC capable charger, since AC is the primary source for a majority of EV owners. Problem has been confirmed by the dealer. Volvo seems to be aware of the issue, as this is a common failure point according to other Volvo EX90 owners. Warnings that occur is a red illuminated light near the charge port when it is unable to accept a AC charge due to failure.

Component Failure & Inspection Availability: Infotainment Head Unit (IHU) / Audio Module (AUD) running Android Automotive OS. The vehicle and its components are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The audio system completely crashes approximately every 3 drive cycles. This failure disables all safety-critical audio features, including turn signal clicks, backup camera and parking sensor chimes, blind-spot/cross-traffic warning alerts, and emergency system tones. Operating the vehicle without audible turn signals or proximity chimes creates significant driver distraction and an immediate hazard to traffic safety. Dealer / Service Confirmation: The issue occurs intermittently during daily operation and is being reported to Volvo dealer service Prior Inspection: The vehicle has been inspected by Volvo service department Symptoms & Onset: The problem began following a recent Android Automotive OS software update. No warning lamps, error messages, or indicators appear prior to the failure. The entire audio bus shuts off either at vehicle start or mid-drive. The only temporary workaround is forcing an infotainment reboot by holding the center display home button for 20–30 seconds, but the complete audio failure recurs every few drive cycles.

2019 VOLVO V60- Covington, KY
The electronic tailgate struts/motors have failed for the 3rd time in the cars lifetime. The risk this presents is sudden dropping of the tailgate on heads, fingers or anything in between the ground and the lifted tailgate. The dealer has given a quote for replacement but will not give a quote on the diagnosis instead, simply telling me over the phone the struts need replaced and sending me a $1381.34 invoice via email. I have been working to get it in for diagnosis since August 21 with no luck. Today is September 2. The vehicle component is a well known and documented issue on forums across the V60/90 and XC60/90 SPA platforms. The warnings of this issues occuring are a loud screeching sound and rusting water coming out from the struts, there are no warnings on the dash or in the menu screen. The first time these appeared was in October of 2021, they were replaced then and then again in August 2026, currently awaiting replacement again for the now 3rd set of these struts.

2025 VOLVO EX90- Phoenix, AZ
My 2026 Volvo EX90, with approximately 3,000 miles, experienced a complete vehicle failure while being used as our family vehicle in Phoenix, Arizona. While my nanny was driving my two young children, including my [XXX], the air conditioning stopped functioning during approximately 110–115°F outside temperatures. After she parked, the vehicle’s displays went dark and the vehicle became completely unresponsive. The exterior door handles also stopped functioning normally. My nanny was unable to open the rear doors from outside to remove the children and had to climb through the front seats into the rear passenger area in order to gain access and get them out of the vehicle. The vehicle would not respond to the key, would not restart, and did not respond to Volvo’s recommended reset procedures. Roadside assistance was required and the vehicle was towed to an authorized Volvo dealership. Several days later, the vehicle remains completely inoperable. The Volvo dealer has been unable to power the vehicle on, establish diagnostic communication with it, or open the doors normally. The vehicle is so immobilized that the dealership must place it on dollies simply to move it around the facility. This appears to involve substantially more than an infotainment failure. The incident involved simultaneous loss of climate control in extreme heat, complete vehicle shutdown, and loss of normal exterior door access while young children were passengers. I am particularly concerned about the potential safety implications if this failure were to occur again in extreme heat or in another situation where occupants needed to exit the vehicle quickly. The vehicle remains at the Volvo dealership for diagnosis, and no root cause has yet been identified. Vehicle: 2026 Volvo EX90 Mileage: Approximately 3,000 miles Location: Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona Injuries: None Crash: No Fire: No Police report: No Vehicle towed: Yes INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Was driving on a freeway when tire pressure light came on and tire blew out a few minutes later. I could not see the events of what happened behind me, but when my tire blew I got over to the right shoulder as safely as possible to move out of the way of oncoming traffic on the freeway. This incident occurred after only 2 months of driving car (3,000 miles on the car).

2017 VOLVO XC90- Charlotte, NC
2017 Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid, approximately 81,000 miles, experienced intermittent hesitation/loss of propulsion when accelerating. When acceleration is requested, the vehicle can hesitate before power is delivered, creating a serious safety concern when entering, merging into, or crossing traffic because expected acceleration is not immediately available. Diagnostic testing identified faults in the IEM/ERAD system, including P286D00, Clutch A Engagement Time Performance/Too Slow, and P0A1B62, Drive Motor A Control Module, Algorithm Based Failure. The vehicle is currently being evaluated by an authorized Volvo dealer. I was advised that the high-voltage battery cells appear to be functioning properly and that the dealer is consulting Volvo technical support regarding the loss-of-acceleration condition. Volvo has issued Technical Journal guidance addressing ERAD clutch DTCs, including P286D00, on this generation of XC90. I am concerned that delayed or failed engagement of the ERAD clutch can cause an unexpected delay or loss of propulsion during acceleration. I am also aware of another NHTSA complaint involving a 2017 Volvo XC90 ERAD clutch failure, NHTSA Complaint No. 11673211, describing a delay in propulsion followed by sudden power delivery. I am requesting that NHTSA review this condition as a potential safety defect involving ERAD clutch engagement and intermittent loss or delay of propulsion in Volvo XC90 T8 vehicles.

2025 VOLVO XC60- Knoxville, TN
It appears, that due to a production defect, the right and left rear driver and passenger side windows are permanently fogged up making it difficult to see when driving. I have seen other reports that make the same observation, , but there apparently is no safety or production recalls by Volvo. This is definitely a production and a safety issue!
