The drivers side mirror moves independently. Does not lock. Will move randomly at any time. Volvo knows about the problem and does nothing to fix it.

2018 VOLVO XC90- Houston, TX
2018 Volvo XC90, VIN [XXX] , 54,618 miles. Original owner. All service performed exclusively at Volvo Cars West Houston (same dealer, all three failures). Volvo Technical Journal TJ 34648.1.2, titled "Prior Approval - Lack of airflow causing poor cabin cooling," is classified as a Product Fix and explicitly lists the 2018 XC90 as an affected vehicle. This TJ required the dealer to submit a Prior Approval report to Volvo Corporate when installing the resistor fix. At 12,017 miles (August 2020), the dealer installed the evaporator resistor per TJ 34648.1.2, Part No. 32241228, under VST Operation 98734-2 — meaning Volvo Corporate has documentation of this vehicle's evaporator vulnerability on file since 2020. At 15,930 miles (March 2021), the AC compressor failed and was replaced under warranty, consistent with refrigerant starvation from the same underlying evaporator leak. The evaporator has now failed completely at 54,618 miles despite Volvo's own corrective measure being applied at 12,017 miles. The current failure (April 2026) includes a confirmed front evaporator refrigerant leak and AC discharge hose leak, documented by dealer borescope inspection showing corrosion on the evaporator fins and visual evidence of refrigerant oil residue at the discharge hose fitting. Dealer repair estimate is $4,406. This is a documented pattern failure across 2016-2018 Volvo XC90 models. Volvo Cars USA was contacted for goodwill assistance and denied the request within 24 hours without meaningful review. Case number [XXX]. 2021 VOLVO XC60- Holland, MI
After 5 times of phantom breaking at high speed I took the car to Betten Volvo. The did a system update to try to correct. The car has now 3 times in 2 weeks again triggered the break at highway speed. I have another appointment scheduled April 21, 2026. Having the brake applied for no reason at this speed is extremely jarring and dangerous.

2022 VOLVO XC60- Mykolaiv, AZ
Reporting a manufacturing defect in a 2022 Volvo XC60. The vehicle developed a metallic ticking noise in the timing area, audible at idle. Symptoms strictly match Volvo Technical Journal 36551.9.1 (NHTSA ID: MC-11015995-0001) regarding faulty camshaft seals. The noise disappeared when the oil filler cap was loosened, exactly as described in the TJ. An authorized Volvo dealer confirmed the defect and replaced the camshaft seals per Volvo’s protocol (Work Act No. ??-0131107). This repair completely resolved the issue, proving it was a manufacturing fault. The manufacturer refused warranty coverage citing 'salvage title' status, without proving any causal link between the title and this specific engine defect. Failure of timing components poses a significant safety risk, including sudden engine stall or oil leaks during operation. The owner was forced to pay out-of-pocket for the repair of a recognized factory defect. Supporting documents and video evidence are available upon request.

2025 VOLVO XC90- Park City, UT
The original OEM tires on a 2025 Volvo XC90 (purchased new in March 2025) failed prematurely due to what appears to be a manufacturing defect. Tire size: [e.g. 275/45R20]. Brand: [e.g. Pirelli Scorpion]. DOT: 193 7B594P 1924 (manufactured week 19 of 2024). The vehicle's original tires were removed in November 2025 for winter tire installation, at which point the odometer showed 6,808 miles. The tires were stored indoors in bags and never used again until April 2026, when a professional tire shop (Discount Tire) refused to remount them on the vehicle citing unsafe condition. The tires exhibit severe sidewall bulging, starburst cracking indicating internal structural failure, and at least one tire shows a deep gash with internal steel cords exposed. Three of the four original tires are affected. The fourth original tire was replaced in June 2025 after it failed during normal highway driving - the cause was attributed to a road hazard at the time but is now believed to be the same underlying defect. The replacement tire (a different unit purchased separately) shows no defects whatsoever. The safety risk is significant: three tires with structural sidewall failure were on an active vehicle for the first 6,808 miles of its life, including at highway speeds. One tire experienced an in-service failure. The remaining three deteriorated to the point a professional installer deemed them unsafe to mount. The failed tires are available for inspection. The problem has been confirmed by an independent tire service center (Discount Tire) who refused to install due to safety concerns. The manufacturer has not yet inspected the tires. There were no warning lamps or prior symptoms before the June 2025 in-service failure, and no visible signs of the sidewall damage were observed until the tires were removed from storage in April 2026.

2023 VOLVO XC60- Draper, UT
3rd time driving our Volvo on the road and having the automatic emergency brake engage too early or in this instance, with no vehicle in front of us. We have been dealing with issues related to the safety systems and error messages in our Volvo related to “blind spot”, “automatic emergency braking”, and sensor failures or errors since having our vehicle leased since 2023. It has been in the shop MULTIPLE times to have sensors replaced only for errors to come back. Our system current says to clean the front sensors even though there is no debris on them. We also experienced this errors while driving 2025 loaner models with our vehicle in for repairs. We feel unsafe in our vehicle and can’t rely on the safety systems. We have also experienced the entire auto system failing in our car multiple times. This leads to any sounds system including emergency warnings to turn signals from not producing ANY sounds.

VCM and Rearview camera glitching not working, can cause crashes. Everything was checked for voltage and works properly. It seems like it is a system infotainment issue for 2017 Volvo xc90

2025 VOLVO XC60- Boyne City, MI
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The specific component has not yet been identified. The issue involves unexplained water intrusion into the vehicle’s floor pan under normal operating conditions. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Water intrusion into the cabin creates potential safety risks, including exposure of electrical systems to moisture, possible corrosion of critical components, and degradation of interior air quality (e.g., mold). These conditions could affect vehicle reliability and occupant safety. The last time that I drove it the brakes were engaging randomly and forcefully. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle has been inspected by a dealership; however, the source of the water intrusion has not been identified or confirmed, and responsibility has not been accepted. Neither did the dealership provide requested documentation of the leak test. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The dealership has inspected the vehicle, and a claim has been submitted to my insurance carrier. Volvo corporate has opened a case but has not conducted a technical inspection or provided findings to date. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, there were both warning lamps and messages, and the dealership serviced and claimed that it was 90% fixed and were just waiting for a small component. They said that I could resume driving it, then the problem got worse.

2017 VOLVO XC90- Lenoir City, TN
The rear door on the driver side will not open. The child lock will not deactivate. No accident. I took my son to school and when I returned to open the door for my [XXX] old the door would not open. No warnings. A regular maintenance appeared days later. I do not understand why this is not being recalled based on online research showing the same thing happening with other Volvos. 2021 VOLVO XC90- El Dorado Hills, CA
Unintentional acceleration.First, I was in line at car wash proceeding slowly ahead as directed in line. Foot on accelerator lightly moving, when car surged rapidly hitting back end of Tesla about 6-8 ft ahead (2/26/26 12:30pm) Impact strong enough to push Tesla into truck hitch damaging it front of it as well. Applied brake, but impact was too rapid. Second incident with my Volvo was a month later(3/22/26 about 10:30 am) and my husband was driving. . Made right turn on green light and started to accelerate when it revived and surged forward until applied brake. Dealer could not replicate. No codes but repair shop had to recalibrate after 1st incident and may have lost code on 1st incident(wreck). Now that insurance knows what happened, I don't know if they will intervene. hopefully. No warnings went off or messages. Airbag did not deploy. I believe that this is an unintentional acceleration, especially occurring twice now. Dealership says car is safe and they will monitor. I guess it means when we have another incident. Hopefully not fatal to us or anyone else. Dealer says it is a transition from hybrid electric to gas. But I have had this car 4yrs10months and this never happened until now. And the transition never has thrown me back in my seat or had the engine rev. The battery was replaced last August because of bad cell and recall on it for fire hazard. Maybe this could have an affect. On first incident I was in shock so thought maybe in hit accelerator instead of break, but when second incident occurred and it was exactly like first except no collision. Thatshow I originally reported to insurance and police as my fault. But that's not true. Now I called insurance to report dual incidents, two different drivers with unintentional acceleration. SR-1 filed
