2022 VOLVO XC90- Fuquay-Varina, NC
My car is a 2022 Volvo hybrid T8, 6-passenger XC90. I purchased the SUV in August of 2023 as a "certified pre-owned" vehicle with only 17,923 miles on it at the time of purchase. This SUV has been fine until within the last two to three months (July-Sept. 2025). Now, in Sept. of 2025, my SUV only has 30,795 miles and we have had it serviced regularly, as required, and taken care of it as responsible vehicle owners. Beginning around June or July of 2025, I began seeing the "check engine" light, so I called the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and took it in for servicing. After a day, they said it was fixed and that it was a blown fuse or two, and it was good to go. Not even 3 weeks to a month later, the "check engine" light came on again. I called and took it back to the dealership. Same story, after less than a day they called me back after fixing something else (don't remember off the top of my head what they said it was, but it was allegedly minor). Now, about 3 days ago, Sept. of 2025, I began seeing the "check engine" light again, so for the 3rd time in less than 3 months I arranged for it to be serviced by the dealership again on 9/30. A day later, another "Propulsion System/maintenance required!!!" light came on as well, so I called to get servicing sooner because obviously the message is scary. I was told to bring it in, they would "work me in" but had no loaners I could use to get to and from work. So, at that point, I got my husband involved and now no one from the dealership is returning either of our calls, AND I'm being told there is no recall on my car, even though a simple google search reveals there is a recall on my same make/model/year SUV. I'm getting the same messages people got about the recall, so no clue why my vehicle isn't considered as part of the recall when I am having the SAME issues as the recalled vehicles are having. I am beyond frustrated and ready to dump this SUV if they are unable to properly repair it!!!!!

The contact owns a 2021 Volvo XC60. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds and turning, the front end of the vehicle made an abnormal grinding sound. Additionally, the contact stated that the steering wheel seized after turning, which required the contact to jam the steering wheel for the steering wheel to return to the center. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering rack had failed internally and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V001000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. 2024 VOLVO XC40- Boca Raton , FL
2024 Volvo xc40 with 10,000 miles suddenly became completely disabled on the express lane of a highway. The flashers were inoperable. The windows could not be opened. Road ranger was called. Nothing was wrong with the battery. Car was towed to a safe spot. Car was taken to Volvo dealership. Volvo determine that serpentine belt came apart and the tensioner was the cause - a manufacturer defect. This was very dangerous situation for the driver and unusual for a car with such low miles to have such a break in the serpentine belt. Fortunately there was an accident ahead and cars were traveling slowly in the express lane.

2023 VOLVO XC90- Los Angeles, CA
The button to initiate the parking brake frequently does not work. With my foot firmly on the brake, I have had to push the Park button many times to put the vehicle in park. I have video of this incident. Other times, when not expecting it or recording video I have pressed the park button and not realized the vehicle didn’t go into park. When I released my foot on the brake the vehicle rolled forward. Thankfully no one or other vehicle was directly in front of the car.

2018 VOLVO XC90- Jamaica, NY
On 8/20/2025, my 2018 Volvo XC90 T8 suffered catastrophic failure of the Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD). The vehicle suddenly developed a loud whining noise from the rear and became undriveable. This ERAD had previously been replaced under warranty at Boston Volvo Cars. On 10/28/2025, Queens Volvo inspected the vehicle and confirmed the failure was caused by improper prior service. Their technician documented that the ERAD housing was likely not properly torqued, which led to transmission fluid leaking over time, sludge buildup, and internal damage to gears and motor. The failure was sudden, confirmed by an authorized Volvo dealer, and the ERAD is no longer serviceable. This created a safety risk by causing immediate loss of propulsion and stability. If it had occurred at highway speeds, the risk of crash would have been significant. The failed component remains available for inspection.

2004 VOLVO XC70- Nashville , TN
I own a 2004 Volvo XC70 that is experiencing the same fuel pump defect described in Recall R220 / NHTSA Campaign 09V483000 (fuel pump leak). My vehicle exhibits fuel system problems consistent with the recall description. However, my VIN is not included in the current recall population. When I contacted Volvo, I was told my case (ID #250827-000998) was escalated to corporate, but I was later informed that no goodwill assistance would be provided because my VIN is not covered. I specifically requested written confirmation of this determination. This defect poses a safety risk that aligns with the existing recall, and I believe additional vehicles outside the current VIN range may be affected. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether the recall should be expanded to include vehicles like mine.

2015 VOLVO XC70- Arlington, VA
My engine oil light came on recently so I took my car to the auto service center to check. The auto repair staff performed and inspection and found excessive oil consumption stemming from a defect in the pistons, piston rings and piston heads. They gave me a copy of Quality Bulletin from Volvo regarding the extended warranty P10207: VEP4 Oil Consumption Test; Model Year 2015-2016. Volvo provided an extended warranty for this defect but never informed me of the defect. Initially, Volvo said they would provide coverage for 10 years which would have covered my vehicle but Volvo decreased the period of coverage to October 2024. Now Volvo won't pay for the repairs which are estimated at $10,000. It should have been a recall, according to the auto service center. Apparently, auto companies don't like recalls due to the negative publicity. Instead the auto manufacturers provide so-called warranties for defects of automobiles for a limited time period. Had I I would have taken my car to the dealer for repair if I received such a letter from Volvo. My car is only worth $12,000 at this point since it is 10 years old but I have only 66,000 miles on my car which is low (particularly for a Volvo). I have written Beyer Volvo in Falls Church, VA, asking them to pay for the repairs, as well as Volvo North America. Both declined to provide any payment for repair of my vehicle. There are class action lawsuits against Volvo for not informing their customers of this defect. NHTSA should have issued a recall. Can NHTSA help me with this problem now? My car is not safe to drive since the oil will leak from the pistons into the rest of the engine. I can't afford to buy a car right now. It is wrong that Volvo is getting away with this defect without paying for the repairs of my cars.
