I am the owner of a 2022 Winnebago Ekko. My vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall 24V-024 (Winnebago Campaign #181) regarding the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system. I am writing to request your guidance on how to proceed, as I am currently unable to obtain the required safety remedy. My local authorized dealer, has declined to open a repair order, stating that their internal system marks the recall as 'closed' due to a previous service campaign (74-05). Despite providing them with the official NHTSA Dealer Notification for Campaign #181, which clearly states this recall supersedes the previous campaign and must be performed regardless of ownership, they have refused to diagnose the system. Could you please provide guidance on the appropriate next steps to ensure this safety mandate is honored, or advise if there is an escalation process I should follow with the manufacturer to resolve this impasse? I am concerned about the safety risk of operating a vehicle with a known, failing BSM system and would appreciate your assistance in rectifying this." I took the vehicle on vacation last week. My wife drove while I navigated. The BSM worked well. After we arrived and were driving in heavy traffic we noticed the BSM wasn't indicating when lane changes were unsafe. Ive read on user forums that rain has affected their BSM units. I contacted Winnebago Customer Care prior to this, who wrote "From: Winnebago Motorhome Customer Care <[XXX]> Date: Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 9:46?AM To: Redacted Subject: Case:[XXX] Blind Spot Assist issue with Winnebago Ekko Hello, All recalls are complete for this coach. If the owner is experiencing issues it must be brought back to the repair dealer to diagnose the issue. Any warranty is given from the repairing dealer. As the dealer that performed the work is in Indiana & I am in Arkansas. It would be very inconvenient although If necessary I would try that too. The wipers component failed, wipers would not shut off. When replacing the module for wipers, turn signal and cruise control, it's one big unit, the repair shop noticed that there seems to be some concern with some scorching of the electronics behind the airbag.

    1. An ATP connector on a solar charging system experienced a high resistance event and started a smoldering fire. It melted the connector and about 24" of 10 gauge wiring. It also melted the fiberglass roof material under the connector. The event was observed on Sunday morning, April 19, 2026 at approximately 9:30 am. It occurred while parked in our driveway. We disconnected the solar panel that was feeding this wire to remove the resistance to the system and stop the damage from spreading. 2. Had we not seen the smoke, a major fire could have destroyed the RV and endangered our house. 3. Problem was reported to the manufacturer who seemed most concerned that the RV was no longer in warranty. The damage was observed and repaired by a factory authorized service center on Monday, April 27, 2026. 4. There were no warnings.

My RV is going into limp mode after driving several (about 4) hours. No CEL and no other symptoms other than paddle shifters not working while driving on interstate This has happened several times. I brought it twice to. Mercedes in Macon Ga who could not see any codes nor replicate and obviously will not just start replacing components. I researched on internet and many folks are experiencing same issue. Some said if I pull over, shut down for about 20 minutes, and restart it will correct. I did that and it works. Mercedes in Macon were very nice and I understand their position. However, I cannot nor do not want this to happen while going up a grade!! It is a safety hazard and needs to be fixed. Where do I go from here? Tried to email Mercedes but would not go through saying "Your message couldn't be delivered to [XXX] because the remote server is misconfigured. See technical details below for more information." I have two videos which I showed to Mercedes but again, no CEL nor code so they did not know where to go with this. The head lights are too small and too dim to drive at night. I completely ran off the road on one occasion and never drove at night again. This is a serious problem at least with my motorhome since new.

Dashboard display is de laminating. Freighter says it is not covered because warranty has expired. It is only 5 years old. Others have had the same problem.

Beginning in October 2025, the Kwikee electric retractable side steps on my Winnebago Ekko began deploying spontaneously while the vehicle was being driven at highway speeds. The steps are designed to retract automatically upon the vehicle being placed in gear and to deploy only when the vehicle side access door is opened via magnetic reed switch. The failure mode observed is the inverse of intended behavior: steps extend and retract outward while the vehicle is actively in motion, without any door opening event. The issue was first documented in October 2025 and formally reported to La Mesa RV, my authorized Winnebago warranty service center, beginning in November 2025. The vehicle has been returned to service a total of five (5) times for this identical complaint. Individual components have been replaced (door open reed switch, wiring for switch, and control board), but the failure has recurred following each repair. To date, no repair attempt has resolved the root cause, and the behavior continues creating a safately concern for this vehicle, other vehicles on the road, and pedestrians. Safety Consequences: The deployed steps extend beyond the vehicle's body profile, creating a physical road hazard capable of striking curbs, guardrails, adjacent vehicles, cyclists, or pedestrians at speed. At highway speeds, a deployed step represents a significant aerodynamic and structural load not intended by the manufacturer, risking step detachment and road hazard. The driver has no reliable warning that deployment has occurred, meaning the hazard may go undetected for an extended period while driving. Other motorists and pedestrians cannot anticipate or predict the presence of an extended step on an otherwise moving vehicle. Component / System Involved: Lippert Kwikee electric side step system, including the step control module, door trigger switches, and retraction motor assemblies. Wiring should include an ignition interlock preventing deployment while in gear.

Generator started on its own sometime yesterday evening. The motor home was plugged into 30amp outlet and on shore power. Based on generator hours compared to an inspection I made last week it ran for approximately 15 hours before detection. (we had t-storms all yesterday and I never went outside). I tried to shut off via the touch screen controller inside the motor home and it was frozen and not responsive. I had to turn off the generator from the manual switch mounted on the unit. Once I reset the main breaker on the home and the controller re-booted it seems to be operating normally at this time. I am fortunate that it was not parked indoors. I believe others in the last 2 years have reported this issue to you.

The latch and hinge for the engine inspection door on the front of the vehicle fell off. The assembly was glued on the body and the glue/adhesive failed and the assembly fell off and lost. This has been reports before on similar Winnebago units and it certainly represents a safety issue.

Driving down road started to smell smoke like burning electricity. Pulled over and opened hood. Secondary alternator smoking and inside vents there was red-hot burning of medal and near combustion. Belt running secondary alternator also split in two and denigrated. Very dangerous. I already preformed recall to lower amperage but his still happened. Many owners for same model Winnabago Ekko 22a with Balmar alternator have reported same.
