The auxillary alternator caught on fire. The dealer retained the part when replaced. Fire risk to ourselves and entire rig. Yes, the problem was confirmed by a dealer. The Yuma, Az fire department responded and wrote a report. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms,

The secondary alternator caught on fire while traveling and damaged the Ford tensioner that supplies AC compressor power

Wiring harness and a fuse on the harness for the auxiliary Balmar alternator installed by Winnebago partially melted due to proximity to turbocharger. Very concerning due to other owners reporting Balmar alternator fires and alternator regulator failures.

In January 2022 Freightliner issued a recall# FL912A requesting that all Motorhomes from 2017 - 2023 have the rear inner tire valve stem be removed. What they didn’t tell you was by removing this valve stem it eliminated the Motorhome owners TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) which is a safety feature and also made the inflating/deflating of the inside rear tire nearly impossible for most RV owners. At the time of the recall I (and many others) were informed that their Engineering team was working on a better solution. It has been a year and Engineering has not developed a better solution and has basically shelved the work order. Removing the valve stem is not a legitimate solution, but has shifted all the liability from Freightliner to us Motorhome owners. Not have our TPMS system, nor being able to adjust our tire pressures easily is creating a safety hazard. I venture to guess that many owners have not implemented the recall and those that have are very unsatisfied. It’s time for the NHTSA to get involved and force the issue with Freightliner. The consumer stated he feels unsafe not having a tire pressure monitoring system in which was paid is a hazard on the highway.

While RV was parked for approximately10 hours along the beach in Newfoundland, Canada RV caught fire and burned to the ground. We were asleep, when we were awakened by a popping sound. When we opened our eyes, the RV was already filled with smoke. We did not hear the smoke alarm or carbon monoxide go off. We escaped at the nick of time. I knocked on the van of a neighboring boondocker for help. She called the fire department. But when the fire truck arrived, the RV was already engulfed in flames. We went to bed almost at 12 midnight, the fire happened at approximately 1:30-2AM. There were no indications of problems before we went to bed. May 2022, 2 repairs under warranty were done in California. 1)the Truma was not working properly; 2) the chassis alternator was not charging the AGM battery. My boyfriend suffered burns on his hands, neck and lips and eyelashes. He said he saw flames coming out from under our bed. We were stranded in Canada for 4 days. We lost everything: money, telephone, credit cards and passport.

The contact owns a 2022 Winnebago Voyage. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V545000 (Equipment) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was not available.

The contact owns a 2022 Winnebago Travato built on a 2019 Ram Promaster 3500 chassis. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the retractable awning erroneously deployed and struck a light pole, causing the awning to partially detach from the RV. The contact stated that several of the awning poles were bent and damaged after striking the light pole. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,000.

I had problem with the awning on my Winnebago Revel going in and out while moving and while parked, it never went out more than an inch or two. Awning button was not engaged nor was the mobile app. Awning did seem to work normal when switch was engaged. Because of my concern that the awning would engage while traveling I took it in for service March 21 2022. Tech checked wiring and gears and found nothing wrong. On September 21, 2022 awning self engaged while parked and deployed at great force. No one was in the vehicle at the time, it was fortunately parked at the time; however, we were close by and witnessed the force. Fortunately, no one or property was damaged. We called Carefree of Colorado, the manufactor for assistance. The awning had to be manually retracted, however the motor would not lock the awning into place and has had to be strapped to secure. The fuse was also removed so motor would not attempt to engage and extend the awning. Awning is available for inspection as I have been trying to get it repaired and have not been able to. Camping World ofAsheville inspected the awning, they suggested I return to my dealer for further assistance since the awning had prior issue. I have yet to hear from my dealer.

Just want to inform you of a potentially dangerous situation on 2018 Winnebago Forza’s. The propane line for the Truma Water Heater is routed under the right sink cabinet but above the metal engine box. As it runs, it is pinched between the engine box and cabinet. During driving, the cabinet moves up and down and chaffs and crushes the propane line. I caught mine in time and routed it, however, had I not caught this, it would have chaffed through and Boom. Truma Corp technician found this kinked line because I was having Water Heater problems since day one. I see on some of the Facebook groups, owners are reporting similar problems with their Truma Water Heaters not providing enough hot water. This is the end result of a pinched propane line. There is (14.6 WC) which is enough gas in the line for an initial startup, but the flow of propane quickly drops (3-6 WC) which is not enough to maintain a lite burner, so it cycles on and off or goes out and you get an error code. The contact owns a 2021 Winnebago Travato built on a 2021 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V696000 (Structure, Equipment) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the awning unintentionally extended. The contact stated that the awning had unfurled and one of the arms had sheared off from the mounting point on the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to a dealer however, it was not repaired due to the parts not being available. The contact received the notification one month after the failure had occurred. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
