Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2014 RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks manufactured July 1, 2013, through August 22, 2013. Randomly, the warning lights in the instrument cluster may fail to illuminate as designed.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 8,370 units affected.

Description:: Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2014 RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks manufactured July 1, 2013, through August 22, 2013. Randomly, the warning lights in the instrument cluster may fail to illuminate as designed.
Consequeces:: Inoperative warning lights may not properly warn the driver of vehicle problems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the instrument cluster software, free of charge. The recall began on November 25, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N59.

2014 RAM 1500 Complaints
Sudden, complete loss of electric power steering while backing out in a parking lot. I was driving our 2014 Ram 1500. It was approximately 9:00 pm and I was in a post office parking lot. I started the truck, put the car in reverse and backed out. The steering suddenly became impossible to turn and the ESP warning appeared on the dash. The truck had been driving fine and the failure occurred without warning. THE ESP warning light had never appeared prior to this incident. The truck could not be safely driven after the steering failure and required towing to a mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed a failure of the electric power steering system and the entire electric power steering rack and pinion had to be replaced. This was an unexpected and significant repair expense at a cost of $2,788.50 including $150 for the tow. Thankfully, the total failure of the ESP did not occur when I was driving at a high speed and thankfully it was late enough in the day that the parking lot was empty and no other vehicles were involved or disrupted. My safety and others would have been at risk because the steering wheel was completely locked and I was unable to turn it at all. The old rack and pinion has been kept if inspection is needed. It has not been inspected by anyone other than our mechanic. I am specifically filing this report because after my own searches, I discovered that this situation has happened numerous times and it could be a very serious catastrophic event if it is not investigated. 2014 RAM 2500 Complaints
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the instrument panel failed to display pertinent information. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact believed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V486000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 189,000.;
2014 RAM 3500 Complaints
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver's side rear outer tire detached. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The contact's husband inspected the vehicle and noticed that only one stud was attached to the wheel, and the wheel was tilted sideways. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the driver's and passenger's side rear outer tire studs had detached. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the passenger's side rear outer tire studs had detached again. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the rear axle, rims, and rear tire hubs were also damaged. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact stated that the failures occurred while hauling horses. The contact referenced an unknown recall with a similar failure description, stating that the vehicle was taken to the dealer three years ago for the recall repair, but the vehicle was only inspected and no repairs were completed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.;
