BRIDGESTONE ALENZA TIRES Complaints

I have purchased a set of Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra (P 235 / 55 R 19 105 W XL front, P 255 / 50 R 19 107 W XL back) in August 2022 for my 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S RWD EV. After only 12,000 miles, tire dry rot started showing up in June 2023 on all tires. The tires have a 80,000 miles warranty so I don't know how come they started to dry rot only after 12,000 miles. If the tires fail while driving, this can be a severe safety hazard as the vehicle may lose control shall the tires fail.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22T021000 (Tires) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. Several unknown dealers were contacted and confirmed that the parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and the contact was advised to take the vehicle to a third-party service center. The contact had not experienced a failure. The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Highlander. The contact received a notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 22T021000 (Tires). The Toyota dealer was initially notified of the failure and referred her to the Bridgestone manufacturer for assistance. The tire manufacturer referred her to a Bridgestone service center; however, she was informed that the tire needed for repair was on backorder. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Highlander equipped with Bridgestone Tires, Tire line: Alenza Sport, Tire Size: 235/55/R20, DOT Number: 1W28AALA15019. The contact stated that the four tires cracked, due to a discrepancy between the stated weight capacity for the tires and the gross vehicle weight. The contact discovered the failure upon inspection of the vehicle and immediately stopped driving the vehicle. An independent mechanic was notified of the failure. The tire manufacturer was also notified of the failure, and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle had was not repaired. The tire and vehicle failure mileage were approximately 20,000. The contact stated that their wife drove the vehicle majority of the time on local roads. The contact also expressed fears of the vehicle's tires not being able to support the weight of 7 passengers or being able to tow a boat.

I was traveling at highway speed with five passengers, luggage, and bike rack with five bicycles and without warning the driver's side rear tire sidewall completely blew out. The vehicle fishtailed but I was able to move over to the right emergency lane to change the tire. We did not hit any debris. This was a Bridgestone Alenza A/S Sport 235/65R18 tire that was original equipment with my 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV. The tires were inflated to 38 lbs. I called Bridgestone and they told me to take the tire to a Bridgestone dealer in Charlotte, NC. They replaced the tire at no charge. I left the failed tire with them but took photos.

255/65R18 11T M+S I have to keep taking my vehicle in to get air filled into the tires due to losing air in them after a few days.

I purchased a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban on December 6, 2022 equipped with4 Bridgestone Alenza A/S 02 tires sized 275 50R22. On December 21, on my way home I hit a bump. When I got home I could audibly hear air leaking out of the passenger rear tire. I called OnStar who sent a tow truck driver out to put the spare on. We could not find a nail or anything in the tire but there was about a 1.5 inch crack in the sidewall about 1 inch away from the rim with nothing sticking in it. I took it to the dealership where I purchased the tire and they ordered a replacement tire. They said that I could file a complaint with the State Department of Transportation if I wanted. It cost me about $328 to repair. On February 12, around 9:00 pm, I was about an hour and a half away from home about to drive back when the tire sensor light came on saying the passenger rear tire had low air pressure. I pulled into a park and went to look and I again could audibly hear air leaking from the tire. I had not hit any bumps this time, but the tire was completely flat within 20 minutes. When the tow truck driver came to put the spare on, I explained to him what happened previously and that was the second time this had happened within 2 months of purchasing the vehicle. He looked at the tire with me and it had the same tear in the sidewall in the same location as the previous tire. There was no nail or object in the tire, just a 1.5 inch long rigid crack. I noticed that there had been a Bridgestone recall for this type of tire for size 275 55R20 in 2021 because of a pin hole in the sidewall. I believe that my tires are defective.

Bridgestone Alenza Sport OEM 235/65R18 tire. I was driving about 40 MPH. I noticed increased vibration. Suddenly the left rear tire failed. The driver behind me said that the tire "exploded." She had never seen anything like it before. The outer part of the tire had completely separated from the part attached to the metal wheel. There was some damage to the wheel well.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING 60 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE EXPLODED, WITHOUT WARNING. THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM DID NOT INDICATE A PROBLEM UNTIL AFTER THE TIRE EXPLODED. THE OUTSIDE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE HAD SEPARATED. KOONS ANNAPOLIS TOYOTA (1107 WEST ST, ANNAPOLIS, MD 21401) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD INFORM THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE AND GET BACK TO THE CONTACT. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH FOUR NEW TIRES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 612. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. (NEW HIGHLANDER WAS FOUND AT KOONS ANNAPOLIS TOYOTA AND PURCHASED FROM KOONS WESTMINSTER TOYOTA.) CONTACT HAS NOT HEARD FROM TOYOTA DEALER FOLLOWING MULTIPLE REQUESTS. CONTACT REPLACED ALL BRIDGESTONE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE AT OWN EXPENSE SINCE THEY DID NOT TRUST THE REMAINING THREE BRIDGESTONE TIRES, NOR A REPLACEMENT BRIDGESTONE TIRE THEY MAY (?) HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET FROM THE TOYOTA DEALER. CONTACT WANTS TO WARN THE APPROPRIATE PEOPLE THAT HIS NEW BRIDGESTONE TIRE ON A NEW TOYOTA HIGHLANDER EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON.
