COOPER EVOLUTION TOUR TIRES Complaints

The contact owns a 2016 Acura TLX equipped with Cooper Tires, Tires Line: Evolution Tour, Tire Size: 225/50/R18, DOT Number: N/A. The contact stated that after driving 25 MPH over a small pothole, the front driver's side tire started bulging, causing the tire to vibrate while driving. The vehicle was taken to a tire mechanic, where the tire was replaced. The tire failure mileage was approximately 26,000. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 70-75 MPH, the contact noticed that there was increasing vibration on passenger's side of the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle. The contact noticed that the passenger's side rear tire had failed, the bead had separated in the middle of the tread, and the tire had disintegrated and was deformed. The TPMS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tire mechanic, where the tire was replaced. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed an hour later, the steering wheel was pulling significantly to the right, and there was vibration on the passenger's side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure increased significantly, and the vehicle became uncontrollable. The TPMS warning light illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road, where the contact noticed that the inner side of the tire near the control arm was bulging, and there was a crack on the sidewall. The vehicle was taken to a tire mechanic, where the tire was replaced. The passenger's side tires failure mileage was approximately 26,100. The tires were replaced. The tires were replacement tires. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to bring the defective tires for inspection and warranty claim. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to ship the defective tires for inspection. The tires failure mileage was approximately 26,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

We bought 4 new tires size 225/65/R17 on 3/16/2021 mileage 72413. We noticed a vibration on our car and found the belt had separated. On 3/15/2023 we went and they replaced the tire. Mileage On 91816. 8/12/2023 another tire did the same thing and had to have it replaced. Mileage 95407. The other two tires went on 9/06/2023. Mileage 95926. total mileage on those tires 23513 and they were suppose to be good for 65,000 miles. The tires were bought from Tire Kingdom in Lake Wales, Florida. I do have all the receipts if needed.

The contact owns a 2014 Honda CR-V equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Evolution Tour, Tire Size: 225/65R/17, DOT Number: (Not Available). The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle began to violently shake and vibrate. After stopping to inspect the vehicle, it was discovered that the side wall steel belts had separated on all four tires. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who replaced the four defective tires. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven, not towed, to the local dealer.

The contact owns a 2001 Lexus LS430 equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Evolution Tour, Tire Size: 225/60/R16, DOT Number: U9X31LP4619. The contact stated that she felt the vehicle wobble while driving and noticed that the rear driver’s side tire tread belt had separated after the tires were rotated and balanced at a tire shop. The contact took the vehicle back to the tire shop and was informed that the rear driver’s side tire needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired with another brand of tire. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,656.

Cooper Tire Evolution 245/65R17 - Tire Tread Separation - the entire tread out layer came off of the driver side front tire while driving on the freeway - the tire was not deflated - the entire tread hit the driver side mirror breaking it completely off - hitting driver window and deploying all airbags on driver side of the vehicle. The tire itself still was fully aired and full circle entire outer layer of tread was off of the tire. Caused vehicle damage - Personal Injury

I purchased Cooper Evolution Tour tires (DOT U92Y VN 1820, Size 225/65R17) on August 10, 2020. Since then, I've only put 16,000 miles on them. I've been consistently losing air and recently brought them into my dealer for inspection, and they located a bulge in the sidewall in all four of my tires. (I have pictures of each of the buldges as marked by the dealer.) They told me it was a manufacturer's defect and to contact Cooper Tires. Cooper Tires has a recall out for the same type of tire, only an earlier model, with the same exact defect: Recall No. 19T-024 on Cooper Evolution Tour DOT U9 40 1LT 3019. (Dated Dec. 2019.) When I contacted Cooper customer service, they said no recall for my model exists, and I'd have to get replacements under the warrantee, costing me an additional $350. If these tires have the same defect as the earlier model, they should be recalled immediately. I've been driving around on four bulging sidewalls and risking a crash as indicated by Recall No. 19T-024, all of which they recognized enough to recall their earlier model. Attached is the print out from the dealer with the estimate to replace the tires with my road hazard warrantee through them, and pictures of where they marked the sidewall bulges on each tire. ATTACHED ARE 2 DOCUMENTS THAT WILL INDICATE THE FOLLOWING: 12/05/2018 4 COOPER EVOLUTION TOUR 100V TIRES PURCHASED AT TIRE KINGDOM POMPANO BEACH FLORIDA $ 501.89 @ 81,140 MILES. 11/26/2021 4 MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4 TIRES PURCHASED AT J M LEXUS MARGATE FLORIDA $1,035.92 @ 86,242 MILES. WE TRAVELED TO VENICE, FLORIDA ON 11/15/2021 AND RETURNED 11/19/2021. ON OUR RETURN TRIP THE CAR (2009 LEXUS RX350) BEGAN TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE VIOLENTLY! WE WERE SCARED AND CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY ! WE IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT OUR CAR TO J M LEXUS TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION! THEY INDICATED TIRE TREAD SEPARATION HAD OCCURED, AND ALL 4 TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. INCIDENTALLY, I OWN 2 OTHER LEXUS RX350'S IN CONNECTICUT, AND I HAVE COOPER TIRES ON BOTH. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE 8 CONNECTICUT COOPER TIRES. IN SEARCHING YOUR WEB-SITE I NOTICE NHTSA RECALL No. – 19T-024 FOR COOPER EVOLUTION TIRES. THIS MAY BE APPLICABLE AND PROVIDE NHTSA SUPPORT FOR MY CLAIM OF FAULTY TIRES. IN RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE NHTSA GENERAL GUIDELINE BULLET POINT QUESTIONS: THE TIRES FAILED AND HAVE BEEN DISPOSED OF BY JM LEXUS. WE THOUGHT THE CAR WAS GOING TO CRASH IT WAS SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY! JM LEXUS DEALER DETERMINED THE CAUSE AS FAULTY TIRES. ONLY JM LEXUS EXAMINED THESE TIRES. NO WARNING LAMPS OR ALARMS. THIS PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED ON 11/19/2021 ON OUR RETURN TRIP (210 MILES) FROM VENICE FLORIDA TO POMPANO BEACH FLORIDA. TIRE SIZE 235 /55 R18 100V COOPER EVOLUTION TOUR. P.S. FROM THE VERY FIRST DAY THAT I BOUGHT THESE TIRES 12/05/18 I WAS SUSPECT OF THEM BECAUSE ALL 4 HAD AN EXCESS OF MATERIAL ON THE EDGE OF THE TIRES THAT WAS NEVER TRIMMED OFF PROPERLY ! I THESE MADE ME WONDER IF THEY WERE DEFECTIVE IN SOME MANNER ?

Drivers side rear tire blew out while coming to stoplight at approx 15 -20 MPH. No prior warning message If this had happened at highway speed it could have caused injury or death. There was no impact to the tire prior to blowout. We are retaining tire for inspection and are afraid to continue using the remaining 3 tires. We purchased 4 tires new from Tire Kingdom in Fort Myers Fl (#6309 #39) when our vehicle had 15049 miles on it.

1) I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY US 35 GOING WEST BOUND WHERE MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT RIGHT BEFORE THE 75 OVERPASS. 2) PASSENGER REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. A 2 INCH ABRASION ON THE SIDE WALL. 3) I BOUGHT A NEW TIRE AND REPAIRED MY RIM.

PURCHASED 4 COOPER EVOLUTION TOUR ALL SEASON TIRES (225 50 17 94V). DOT U940 1LT 4119 IN NOVEMBER 2019. TIRES DO NOT MAINTAIN AIR PRESSURE. TIRES REQUIRE MORE AIR WITHIN 2-4 DAYS. SIDEWALLS BULGE WHEN FULLY INFLATED CAUSING TIRES TO LOOK UNDER INFLATED BUT LOSE AIR PRESSURE IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. ALSO, ROLLING EFFECT WHEN TURNING CORNERS AT LIGHT TO MODERATE SPEEDS. PLEASE PROVIDE GUIDANCE ON WHAT TO DO TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. MOST RECENT INCIDENT NOTED IN APPROXIMATE INCIDENT DATE RELATED TO LOST OF AIR PRESSURE
