I was driving on the interstate and the tread just separated from the sidewalks. 235/65R17. I didn’t hit anything. There was no damage to the tire. It just disintegrated.

The vehicle currently has approximately 750 miles on it. During car washing, I discovered visible bulges on all four tires. The tires are Goodyear Assurance RangeMax with DOT number 1M63P LF1R 1626. The bulges appear on each tire sidewall and raise concerns about a possible manufacturing defect or structural failure within the tires. The vehicle has not been involved in any accident, impact, pothole strike, or other event that would reasonably explain identical bulging on all four tires. I visited dealership and they confirmed it's manufacturing defects. Also, Goodyear service centre also confirmed it's manufacturing defects. Because tire sidewall bulges can indicate internal tire damage and increase the risk of tire failure, blowout, loss of vehicle control, crash, injury, or death, I believe this condition presents a significant safety concern. The fact that all four original-equipment tires exhibit similar bulging at very low mileage suggests the possibility of a defect affecting the tires or their manufacture. I am submitting this complaint so that NHTSA can investigate whether other consumers may be experiencing similar issues with Goodyear Assurance RangeMax tires installed on new Toyota Camry vehicles. I am reporting premature tire wear on OEM Goodyear Assurance 235/60R18 tires installed on my AWD 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL (VIN: [XXX] ). Component/System: OEM tires; documented and can be inspected at the dealership, which serves as a neutral, third-party verifier, or via submitted records. Safety risk: AWD vehicles require uniform tires; uneven tread risks drivetrain damage and unsafe handling, endangering myself and others. Confirmation: PA state inspection (11/17/2025) at 6,172 miles: Rear 3/32”, Front 5/32”. Dealer Delaney Hyundai (RO# 494892) documented the issue. Current mileage 7,074; tread wear ~1/32” per 881 miles, estimated current depth Rear 2/32”, Front 4/32”. Inspection: Documented by dealer and PA inspection; no manufacturer inspection yet. Warning symptoms: None beyond premature tread wear. - I was driving down 55 mph. on dark, busy highway in Sarasota, Florida (Fruitville Rd.) at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2025. - Suddenly, without warning, the sidewall of the rear passenger side tire completely blew out in a perfect circle around the entire outside of edge. - The tire is currently available for inspection. - The Goodyear dealer claims that the blowout was caused due to underinflation. However, the tread pattern of the tire shows no signs of underinflation. - Since this is my wife's car, I check the tire pressure every other Sunday evening knowing that she'll be driving it to work the next day. - Had there been heavier traffic, the blow out could have caused a major accident if someone was following closely behind me. - The car's TPMS sensors weren't illuminated to indicate there was any low tire pressure.

The contact owns a 2008 Volkswagen EOS equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Assurance A/S, Tire Size: 215-55/R16, DOT Number: (NA). While the contact’s son was driving approximately 60 MPH, there was an abnormal thumping sound coming from underneath the vehicle. After pulling over and inspecting the vehicle, the driver noticed a blowout of the front passenger’s side tire. The tire was replaced with the spare tire. The vehicle was taken back to the tire shop where the tire had been purchased approximately one year prior; however, there was no replacement provided free of charge because there was no recall or warranty coverage on the tire. The tire was not replaced. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was 72,245. The tire failure mileage was approximately 7,423

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Impala equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Assurance, Tire Size: 235/50/R18, DOT Number: MT1PJBUR2920. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in for routine service, it was discovered that all four tires had severe tread separation and piling. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The tires were not yet replaced. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

I purchased Goodyear Assurance MaxLife 195/65 R 15 from Sam's Club in Kingston on August 2023. On [XXX] my tire blew out on the inner sidewall of my tire. When I spoke with an employee from the automotive department in Sam's Club about my tire, the person said " Let me guess, was it an Assurance MaxLife?" I said "yes, how did you know?" The employee said " this is like the 19th one with the same problem. I'm shocked their not a recall on them." So I paid for a new tire and the next day decide to check to if their was any recalls on the tires. I didn't find any. So I decided to make this report for others. Hope this help! I bought this set of tires new from Sams Club on 10/28/2023. On 12/16/2023 a TPMS warning light came on so I added air. Then three days the light came on and I added air again, and so on, and so on until 12/28/2023 I took it back to Sams Club and they replaced the tire with another tire of the same brand and type, and said it was a manufacturing defect. About a month later on 1/31/2024 the TPMS light came back on, so I added air and took it back to Sams Club to have it checked. They said it had a "hole" and they fixed it and put it back on. Then on 2/27/2024 the TPMS light came on and I added air and soaped all the tires and the same tire was leaking around the rim, and another tire on the rear driver side was bubbling around the rim. I compared the pictures to verify that the leaks were on different locations on the wheel, but the same location on the tire. In total, I've had three of these tires leak around the rim; two from the set I purchased on 10/28/2023, and one that they put on 12/28/2023 to replace the first tire that leaked. I spoke with a manager at Sams Club this morning and they're replacing the set with a different brand that matches what came with the car from the factory. I have pictures of all three leaks, and the last two tire codes.

Dear National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and concern regarding the Goodyear Assurance Weather Ready tires, size 235/45R18, installed on my 2019 Kia Optima SX. These tires have proven to be defective, failing to meet the standards of safety and durability promised by Goodyear. I would like Goodyear to refund for the defective tires! Despite being well within the mileage limit of the 60,000-mile warranty, Goodyear has refused to stand by their product. Instead, they have absurdly attempted to shift the blame onto me, suggesting that frequent alignments are necessary at every oil change. This is not only an inconvenience but also an unjustifiable expense for a supposedly high-quality product.I have diligently maintained my vehicle and have documentation to support the fact that the tires are defective. However, Goodyear has shown a complete disregard for customer satisfaction and safety by failing to address this issue adequately. I urge the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration to investigate this matter promptly and take appropriate action against Goodyear for their negligence and failure to uphold their warranty obligations. Plus to have the tires taken off the market as they put myself and my families lives at risk. Consumers deserve better than to be burdened with faulty products and dismissive customer service.
