GOODYEAR TIRES Complaints

Tire size 255/40R20 Tires are chunking please see attached pictures. Numerous other owners with the same issues through online search.

The contact's daughter owns a 2015 Bison 5 horse trailer equipped with four Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: G114LHT, Tire Size: 215/75R/17.5H, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated after driving and making several stops, his daughter noticed that the tire treads on three of the driver's side tire and a passenger's side tire had separated. The tire dealer was notified and reported the failure to the manufacturer. The contact also contacted the manufacturer, who advised the contact to ship the damaged tires. The contact shipped the damaged tires; however, FedEx lost one of the tires. The manufacturer offered to refund the contact's daughter for the lost tire and for the repair of the RV driver's side fender that was damaged due to the tire failure. Additionally, the manufacturer offered to provide a voucher to partially cover the replacement of the other three tires. The tires were not replaced. The RV fender was repaired by an independent mobile mechanic. The tires failure mileage was approximately 1,500. The RV failure mileage was unknown.

All 4 TPMS have failed within one week and are not registering the PSI. I have to manually check the tire pressure. Turned vehicle on and came as warning across dash. Began with drivers side rear.

-Tire Sidewalls are cracked within 2 years of use and more than half of tread is unused -Cracking sidewalls leads to blowouts as complained about by prior consumers -Went to goodyear service center for inspection as requested for warranty claim -No warning lamps

New tires installed on vehicle 12/10/24. Passenger rear tire blew out at 65mph on interstate on 12/16/24. Car was able to be controlled, some damage to vehicle. Could have resulted in severe injury and/or death.

Concerning Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner AT P275/65/20 tires that came stock with my 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD, which currently has 42,000 miles on it. While driving a round trip of no more than 30 miles the evening of 11/29/24, I noticed a slight repetative jaring motion, which I initially attributed to a potential transmission issue. The bump rapidly worsened halfway though the drive. Upon inspection at the time, I could not see any visible damage to the tire. However, the issue escalated aggressively during my return home, resulting in the tire blowing out and detreading entirely. This failure caused significant damage to the body of my truck, amounting to an estimated $3,500 in repair costs. I believe this incident is due to a defect in the tire, as such occurrences are highly uncommon and unexpected from a product of your reputation. I have oil changes as recommended by the trucks service maunual and with ample tread left on the tire and good scores of inspection it begs the question on how a tire could fail so abruptly. I have 3 other tires with ample tread which should last at least another 10k miles but I'm gravely concerned with continued use of them for fear another blowout could cause a fatal accident.

Tread of the tire delaminated, similar to what a recap would do. This happened at 43,476 miles +or- the first time. This incident occurred In Anton, Texas. My driver got stopped safely and the tire was still inflated. Moved the truck about a 100 yards to be in safer spot and the tire then went flat. Had tire replaced with Identical tire by Loves of Lubbock, TX. Had driver bring the bad tire in, as had never seen in 18 years in business a tire do this. I have tire in my possession. At 53, 456 miles, right at 10,000 miles the newly replaced tire, did the basic same thing. A 3" piece came out of the center of tire for the complete circumference of the tire. Driver got stopped safely. recovered the piece which was still in one piece. experiencing what we did before, I had him take pictures of the tire with it still inflated and had him check the air pressure with a gauge. Tire was at 130 lbs warm with our normal cold setting being 122-123. This incident occurred near Taft, CA so I learned of Tyack Tires and Had 2 new Michelins put on and had driver bring both tires off the front back along with the center piece. I have tire in my possession. My dealer sent tires and center piece to Goodyear for damage claims, as both times it destroyed the entire fender linings and headlight. Goodyear declined damages stating "Over Deflection", which is chronic underinflation, but that is not the case. I had request in writing for my tires to be returned along with the piece. They shipped tires back without the piece, I requested the piece again and received an email stating there was no piece. My dealer says it was sent to them that it was placed inside the tire that it came off of. I've been doing business with this dealer over 16 years, maybe closer to 18. I have pictures of the tires and piece and all damages. I had the same steer tires replaced on the twin to this truck, VIN ending in [XXX] , with new Michelins as well. 2018 Georgetown RV Motorhome equipped with G670 RV UTL tires/245/70R19.5. The tires on the front (D&P side) have the DOT data omitted (see photo) and the two outer rear tires have the DOT data, and the inter two rear tires are unknown at this time. Since I had tires with the DOT data missing, I contacted Goodyear Customer Relations at Akron, OH on Sept 17, 2024 with my concern. Goodyear replied with "Currently, we do not have any tires on recall. If you have a problem or are concerned about your tires we would recommend visiting your nearest authorized Goodyear retailer for an inspection for your peace of mind." As a consumer, I know that date data (made/expired) is required. Therefore, kindly request the NHTSA clarify this DOT matter to whether tires require a DOT stamp? Those without a DOT stamp, safe or not safe?

The contact owns a 2011 Ram 1500 equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Wrangler A/T, Tire Size: 265/70/R17, DOT Number: 1PL1YJC1R. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in for routine maintenance, the mechanic discovered that all four tires had sustained severe cracking and tread separation. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 15,467.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Impala equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Assurance, Tire Size: 235/50/R18, DOT Number: MT1PJBUR2920. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in for routine service, it was discovered that all four tires had severe tread separation and piling. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The tires were not yet replaced. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
