MICHELIN X TIRE TIRES Complaints

Hello NHTSA, On 05/15/26, I was driving on [XXX] southbound when the sidewall of my Michelin X Line Energy Z steer axle tire failed and blew out. The tire was purchased on 12/23/25 and was made in [XXX] . When the tire blew, dark thing spread onto the hood, bumper, and side of my truck. I have attached images showing the damage and the failed tire. Thankfully, I was driving at about 55 mph, remained in control of the vehicle, and no one was injured. The tire tread was still in excellent condition at the time of the incident. For safety reasons, I was forced to replace both steer tires immediately. The contact owns a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: X, Tire Size: 275/80/R25.5, DOT Number: (Not Available). The contact stated upon inspecting the tires, he noticed that the decoupling groove was peeling off on the passenger's side front tire. The passenger's side front tire was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 112,814. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred on the driver's front side tire. The tire was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 160,375. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front passenger's side tire blew out inadvertently. The driver depressed the brake pedal and stopped the vehicle. The driver was then able to veer to the side of the road with the assistance of the State Police. The tire was replaced on site. The tire failure mileage was 496,000. The vehicle was then taken to the local dealer who replaced the front passenger's side tire with a new tire. The tire manufacturer was notified of the failure and inquired about performing an analysis of the damaged tires. The vehicle manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 326,168.

WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 10 IN EL PASO, TEXAS, THE LEFT REAR TIRE (MICHELIN XPS RIB 245-75R-16) ON MY PICKUP CATASTROPHICALLY FAILED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK AND A POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION ON THE INTERSTATE. THE ORIGINAL AND THE REPLACEMENT TIRES DEVELOPED CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALL AT LOW MILEAGE. ALSO, VEHICLE EXPERIENCED STRIPPING OF THE LUG, NUTS AND STUDS UPON TIRE REPLACEMENT.*AK

THE 2 REAR DUEL TIRES EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION FROM THE SIDE WALLS WHILE DRIVING. THIS OCCURRED BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE TOO SMALL AND COULD NOT SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE MOTOR HOME. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ON THE FRONT TIRES WHICH THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED WITH LARGER SIZE TIRES, 275/70XZA1.*AK

HAVE HAD FOUR SIDEWALL FAILURES OF XRV TIRES OUT OF THE ORIGINAL SIX TIRES THE MOTOR COACH CAME WITH.
