MICHELIN TIRES Complaints

Since tires installed on 9/2021, I have been having a worsening vibration noise. I took it to the installer who checked the balance of the wheels and tires and said there were no issues. The vibration continued. I took the car to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle. He said it's either the wheel bearings or the tires. The wheel bearings were replaced and I continued to have issues. The mechanic stated that when the vehicle was lifted and they ran the tires, the tires "wobbled". The independent mechanic felt strongly that the tires are defective and recommended returning to the installer for inspection and to correct this.

The contact owns a 2018 Cadillac XT5 equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: Touring H/T, Tire Size: 235/55/R20, DOT Number: B9AJ00TX2017. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 35 MPH, the rear driver's side tire had a sidewall blowout. The contact's wife was able to drive to a tire dealer. The dealer replaced all four tires. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the tires were not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was unavailable.

235/65R18 all 4 tires worn down after 27,000 miles, suppose to have 60,000 mile tread life. took my Acadia into the dealer for regular oil change and was informed all 4 tires were worn passed the safety margin. He told me there was a service bulletin about the tires but since my warranty had run out there was nothing he could do. He never mentioned the service warranty or that the tires were wearing severly.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S Tire 245/55R19 While driving on the freeway at 70 mph, the tire below and tread separated causing significant damage to vehicle. The tread appears to have separated from the tire, which caused the tire to hit the sidewall and rear of vehicle, which tore off the rear bumper and damaged rear quarter panel. It appears that both steel belts and polyester carcass piles failed The tire separation occurred, unprovoked as there was no impact from debris and the vehicle had been in operation/ driving for over 30 minutes. Incident was witnessed by Highway Patrol, who appeared very surprised to see such an event occur. Costco tire, flagged the issue as it appeared out of the ordinary and shipped the tire for review to Michelin.

This is the 3rd tire now that I am going to have to replace. PEPE Cadillac replaced the 1st one on 4/21/20 and another one on 6/30/21 and now another one any day. It seems like the tires start bulging off the rim and as per the dealership they are unsafe to drive and need to be replaced. It cost me $276.51 and $274.49 respectively and whatever its going to cost now to replace the 3rd one. First one failed at 10,856 miles, Second one failed at 16,244 miles and now the 3rd one at 19,967 miles. I am attaching the dealership invoices and photo for y our review. Also, as per the dealership employee GM is aware of this problem but is not doing anything.

235/55R20 Michelin CrossClimate 2 UTQG ratings missing on outside of tires, for 2 out of the 4 tires. Note: the previous CrossClimate has had a recall for the same issue.

I purchased this vehicle on June 26, 2020. When the vehicle was serviced on May 13, 2021 it had 8,366 miles on it and the tread wear was recorded at 6/32". In late June/early July 2021, I noticed the rear end of the vehicle seemed to slide around corners which lead me to research on the internet the Michelin tires that were on the vehicle. I found a GM Service Bulletin 19-NA-078 dated January 2020 that found issues with these tires. The vehicle's alignment was fixed and that problem seemed to go away. The vehicle was serviced on October 29, 2021 and I was told new tires were needed before winter driving. The tread measurement was 5/32". I told the service department that I wanted to talk to Michelin about this because I felt their tires should last longer. On October 29, the vehicle had 13,332 miles on it. I spoke to a Michelin representative on Monday, November 8th after scanning and emailing in the service records from October 29th showing the tread measurement to be 5/32". The Michelin representative acknowledged that they did have the service records and the only thing needed was a phone call from Bergstrom - Middleton WI, an authorized Michelin dealer. Bergstrom was confident additional information would be needed on the tires and asked that I schedule an appointment to come back in with the vehicle. I did that today. Today I was told by Bergstrom that nothing could be done because the tires were at 5/32". The current mileage on my vehicle is less than 14,000 miles and all 4 of these tires need to be replaced. It appears from what I could find on the internet, a "safe tire" is one that has at least 6/32" tire tread so these tires, which I might add should not have worn out at 14,000 miles, are no longer safe. What boggles my mind is that this has been a known issue with these tires since January 2020, before I even purchased the vehicle. I feel mislead and given the run-around by GM and Michelin. The contact owns a 2019 Kia Stinger equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: Pilot Sport 4, Front Tire Size: 225/40/ZR19, DOT number: HCUJ00HX4118; and Rear Tire Size: 255/35/ZR19, DOT number: HCN401FX4118. The contact stated while his wife was driving 55 MPH, the driver-side rear tire experienced a blowout. The contact stated his wife was able to veer to the side of the road, where she replaced the tire with assistance. The contact stated that as his wife returned from her trip, he inspected the front driver side tire and the front and rear passenger’s side tires and noticed that the top tread on those tires was separating. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and referred the contact to the tire manufacturer for assistance. The tire manufacturer offered a discount for new tires. The front driver’s side tire and the front and rear passenger’s side tires were not replaced. The tires were the original equipment. The approximate vehicle and tire failure mileage were 23,600.

MICHELIN LTX A/T 2 Size P275 65 R20 I have a 2014 Ford F250 SRW that I bought new in July 2014. The truck has 30,000 miles on it and 20,000 of it was towing a 5th wheel. The truck sits inside next to the 5th wheel when its not being used. I had the original tires on which had about 50% of the tread left. The rear tires are always inflated to 80 PSI before towing. We had 2 blowouts on the rear tires. The first I started feeling a vibration and thought I had a tire going down. No TPMS warnings. I pulled off and when I got below 45 the vibration stopped. The tires were all up and the tire temps were within 10 degrees of each other. So we continued on when I got back on I-75 south above 50, I started feeling the vibration again. I got over to the middle lane thinking maybe it was a pavement issue. Thats when the passenger rear tire blew. That tire was split in the side wall on both sides like the seam let go. Didn't think much of it when within about 50 miles, just south of Lexington the driver side rear tire blew. I got a little vibration that I was thinking that feels just like before the other side blew, but not nearly as much warning (about enough time to let off the gas) Same side wall split, except this also took out part of the tread and damaged the truck. Tire Discounters that was able to get us the same Michelin tires that came on the truck. The manager and his senior tire tech thought the tires were defective and told me to take the old tire and report the DOT number.

Tire pressure dose not hold air to recommended tire pressure. Passenger tire seem to control pressure on all four tires. Once tire pressure is inflated to recommended pressure. All four tires deflate and inflated to uneven pressure after driving. Vehicle was seen by Terry Cullen Johnsboro, Ga. They said the passenger rim need to be replaced 800.00. But I ask about the rubber oring around the valve stem replace, they said no oring on the valve stem. I ask about a valve replaced they said no a new tire is the best they could do. My gas mileage dropped to 28 miles a gal from 40. This is a critical fix for a car that has no spare tire. In addition, oil change could not be done on the transmission because there is 126,000 miles on the car is what the technician had said.
