ALFA ROMEO Complaints

The Car stalled while I was driving on [XXX] on the Virginia Eastern Shore, ~4 miles north of Eastville. I had to pull into the emergency stopping line and call AAA/State Police. Check engine light was on and "Service electronic throttle control" message was on. When that happened, the car fuel gauge indicated that I still had ~60 miles. I had to call AAA and place the car on a flat bed. I also called the Virginia State police and they dispatched a car. The Officer staid with me until the AAA tow truck arrived and the car was loaded for transportation. I was able to start the car the following day, and check the fault codes. I had the following Fault codes: P008A Low pressure Fuel System - Pressure too Low. P007 - Fuel Rail/System pressure Too lox Bank 1 P00C6 - Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low - Engine Cranking Bank1. The car seems to be running normally now, although I have not driven it for a long distance. I am planning to take it to the dealer for service on a flat bed. The contact owns a 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled and hesitated to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after a while the vehicle restarted but drove with reduced motive power. The battery was replaced but the failure persisted. The contact scanned the vehicle with an OBD II scanner and determined that the fuel pump had failed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

I was in the process of merging on the the express way when my vehicle threw a warning light, "service electronic throttle control" along with a "service engine" message and a check engine light. The vehicle went into a "limp" and had extremely poor acceleration, I was almost rear ended because the vehicle couldn't reach highways speeds fast enough. The vehicle has not yet been inspected my the manufacturer but I did some research on this issue and found it to be alarmingly common. There seems to be no clear answer to the reason for this and no sure repairs for the problem. This poses a safety risk to drivers as this problem seems to happen while accelerating. It can be dangerous if someone on the expressway is attempting to merge into 60mph traffic and hit "limp mode" at roughly 30. I believe an investigation need to be conducted regarding this followed by a recall of the affected part.

The rear camera system is inoperative. The vehicle was brought to the dealer on 3/25/24, 5/24/24, and 6/3/24 and the dealer has been unable to repair and conform the rear camera system under warranty. To date (as of 6/1/24) the vehicle has been with the Alfa Romeo dealer for 22 days on three separate occasions and they have escalated the issue internally to Alfa engineers as the local dealer has been unable to resolve the issue. The rear camera system is a safety device required on all vehicles in the U.S. Service records available on request.

I have had a sudden loss of coolant causing the engine to overheat. I have never had a leaking issue. But after research I’ve learned this is a common problem with this vehicle. My vehicle began to lose power causing the car to lose acceleration in traffic causing other vehicles to suddenly avoid hitting me and others. The problem has been confirmed.

Control throttle light resulting vehicle to go into a limp mode and power reduction.

Received multiple code resulting from fuel rail, fuel pump, and fuel control module issue that cuts power when driving leading to unsafe driving situation. The car would stall in the middle of driving starving of fuel.

Service electronic throttle control keeps going off and car goes into Lino mode and cannot go over a certain speed causing me to not be able to drive it

While driving my Alfa Romeo Giulia on [Insert Date], the vehicle's sunroof unexpectedly shattered without any prior warning or identifiable external impact, posing a sudden and severe safety risk. The shattering glass resulted in minor cuts and significant distress while I was operating the vehicle, thereby jeopardizing my safety as well as potentially that of other road users. Upon the occurrence of the incident, there were no prior symptoms, warning lamps, or messages indicating a potential problem with the sunroof. This issue had not been previously identified during routine maintenance checks, nor had there been any modifications or repairs done to the sunroof since the purchase of the vehicle. The vehicle has since been inspected by a service center where I initially received incorrect information about my warranty coverage, leading to further complications and delays in addressing the issue adequately. No third-party modifications have been made to the vehicle, and all services have been conducted according to manufacturer recommendations. This incident appears to be due to a failure or malfunction of the vehicle's sunroof system, which should be robust enough to withstand normal driving conditions without such occurrences. I am concerned that this could be indicative of a larger issue that may affect other vehicles of the same model.

My wife was driving the alfa on a tree lined winding country road when the car died without warning. The road has no hard shoulder so it was shuck on the road. My wife had to get out of the car and wave at to warn other traffic that the car was stuck on the road just around the bend. this went on for about an hour until the tow truck arrived, she was very stressed out as there was some close calls with traffic braking at the last second. The cause of the problem was the fuel pump failing, code P008. I am trying to source a replacement pump and during my research discovered this failure is common with 2017 and 2018 Alfa Giulia models. I am quite upset that they have not made this a recall, because the risk of being in an accident due to a car suddenly losing power is quite possible.
