The front left side marker lighting is defective. This was a recall but only on certain VIN numbers, although it appears the recall should’ve covered more VINs.

Oil consumption issue began June 2021 with my 2017 Audi Q7 with the 3.0 engine, we were at 78,841 miles. Our vehicle was always serviced at the dealer on the recommended schedule. The dealer stated high oil consumption of 1 quart per 1,000-2,000 miles was normal. The high oil consumption issues continued. At 99,559 miles the car began shaking on the way home from a routine oil change. They found cylinder 3 spark plug covered in oil and replaced all spark plugs to clear misfires. At 104,002 miles the N428 oil pressure regulation valve was replaced, which seemed to improve oil consumption temporarily, but gradually got worse with frequent top offs. On 1 December 2024 at 123,616 miles the car started to shake while traveling at 70mph on the interstate, with the engine lights on. The dealer found crusted spark plugs and identified that cylinder 1 had a burnt/broken exhaust valve due to excessive oil consumption and residue buildup. The required long block replacement would exceed the value of the car. Clearly a defect in the 3.0 Audi engine.

While driving the car I press the gas pedal and it loses power or won't accelerate at all, then all of a sudden something happens and it lunges forward fast it is scary I have almost crashed 2 times. This issues is intermittent, thus the driver has no control of when the car is going to drive properly when I doesn't it is scary. I'm have been relegated to 45 miles an hour on the freeway I cannot control any part of the car to ensure I can make a lane change if I need to to overt an accident. The reason I'm filing this is because Audi has known about this since at least 2010, there are TSB'S FOR EVERY YEAR REGARDING THIS PROBLEM EITHER EXACT OR a slight change of this problem because every car is different. Meaning how it's driven to where it is located and weather issues. AUDI HAS PREEMPTED THESE Issues bY stating the problem I'm having a long with thousands of others is a PERFORMANCE ISSUE BUT THIS IS WAY MORE THAN THAT. IT IS Definitely A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOUR CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN WONT ACCELERATE. THIS ISSUE CAN REMAIN FOR 45 MINUTES OR Literally A SECOND. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY Problem AND IF THEY MEANING AUDI HAD NOT HAD KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A DECADE AND CONTINUE TO MAKE THESE CARS THE SAME WAY THEN I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO MAKE THIS REPORT IF THEY WOULD HAVE PUT THIS UNDER SAFETY AND NOT PERFORMANCE AND PREEMPTED A INVESTIGATION CIRCUMVENTING THE NTSB'S AUTHORITY BY PUTTING OUT A TSB BEFORE IT CAN BE INVESTIGATED. THE dealership REFUSES TO LOOK AT THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS WITHOUT A COINCIDING CODE, BUT THE SOFTWARE UPDATE DOES NOT STATE A CODE WITH IT BECAUSE IT'S FOR DECADES OF AUDIS. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WILL FIX MY CAR AND I CANNOT DO THAT MYSELF SO I HAVE AN UNSAFE CAR. Also the dealership is refusing to update my software as Audis TSB CLEARLY STATE ALL AUDIS FROM 2002 TO 2025 NEED THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR PROPER REPAIR OF ALL AUDI VEHICLES! The Dealership is refusing give me the warranty documents & recalls done.

My car shows a warning message that says, right front side marker light issue. I understand Audi issued a recall for this issue but only for certain VINs which did not include my car.

2017 Q7 owner. "front left side marker light defective" message on my car. Audi recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000) addresses this exact issue and applies to some affected VIN numbers but not all. My car is not included. It is available for inspection. I've taken the car to the dealer and a private auto repair who both diagnosed the problem and the repair cost of $5,000.

  • 2025 AUDI Q7
    - Milton, FL

I leased a brand new 2025 Q7 at the beginning of June 2024. Two weeks into the lease i was attempting to back my car out of a parking spot at work, during a rainstorm, and the vehicle applied the brakes, grinding me to a sudden halt. It thought the rain was an obstacle. I tried several times to back out of the parking space and each time the car, without any other warning, slammed on the brakes. I called my salesperson who requested I contact the service center, who requested that I bring the vehicle in to be looked at. I was told that the vehicle should not be acting that way. After having the vehicle for 24 hours they called me to say there were no malfunctions or errors recorded in the system and I could come get the car. They told me that they were not able to "simulate rain" to test the issue adequately. A couple of weeks later it happened again. This time I was attempting to leave my garage, again in the rain, and I could not do so. The vehicle continued to halt each time I tried to back up. The car went back to the service center who had it for a full week, from 7/23/24 - 7/30/24, just to tell me that the issue I am referring to is actually "normal behavior and is a feature of the car" and they said that it could be turned off. This issue continued to occur and so I was provided a loaner vehicle while they were investigating what was occurring with mine. This report is related to that loaner vehicle as it has the same issue as my leased vehicle. Neither 2025 Q7 will backup in the rain and will slam on the brakes if you attempt to do so. The dealer continues to claim this is normal and I was told the issue was mine and there was nothing the dealer can or will do. I am reporting this vehicle as having an issue due to the severe safety concerns surrounding this issue with these vehicles. It is not being taken seriously by Audi and this is very concerning.

  • 2017 AUDI Q7
    - Roanoke, VA

Driving with the family on interstate 81South when suddenly the car went from riding smoothly to a rough rumbling sensation. Then all sorts of alarms sounded and the engine light, oil light and system malfunction indicator light came on simultaneously. We pulled over immediately and turned the car off. We looked in the manual to check the severity of the indication lights. We wanted to determine if we could drive to the nearest exit. We started it back up to see if it was some sort of glitch. It remained so thankfully we were right near an exit and exited and called for roadside service. It was towed from Christiansburg, VA back to Roanoke Audi at 2006 Peterscreek Rd Roanoke, VA 24017 on Nov 9th. The dealership concluded that cylinder 1 was burned out with a possible damaged long block assy. I have had all services and taken great care of the car. However, in between services the car would always require an additional 1qt of oil.

    • Excessive oil consumption • Engine knocking • Illumination of the check engine light, possibly for cylinder misfire • Engine stalling- • the pistons unexpectedly fail, drivers may also experience a sudden loss of engine power while operating their vehicles. This can pose a safety risk as it may become difficult for drivers to brake, accelerate or control the steering wheel. Drivers are believed to have experienced problems with the pistons well before they should, with some seeing engine failure before the 75,000- mile mark. Audi Vehicles Burning Too Much Oil A number of Audi drivers have posted complaints online that their Q5 vehicles are burning more oil than they should, an issue attorneys suspect could be related to a defect in the pistons. A sample of these complaints can be found below [sic throughout, emphasis ours]: My Audi Q5 2012, like all suffers from excessive mass oil consumption. A Dealer did the oil consumption test and said the piston and rings need to be replaced. I ve Already spent over $1K on crankshaft repairs etc. Will AoA to pay for new piston and rings? Its a $6K repair that I am unwilling to pay because it should not be going through this crap for such an expensive car.” This "benefit" likely won't me customers due to the age of the vehicles and they don’t seem to care. Not to mention owners will still be stuck with paying a percentage for repairs. I bought a 2012 Audi Q5 in in 2015…For the first 20,000 miles of owning this car, it was my dream car and was all I had hoped for. Then, the check engine and oil light game started. At first, adding oil meant that it would it go another 1500-2000 miles without issue. Then, around 75k, it went to 500 to 750 miles. Once it hit 95k, it dropped to every 400 to 600 miles that it needed oil. I am at 118k and desperately want to dump this lemon. Unfortunately, I have payments on this garbage car. I've spoken with a local mechanic about it and he says the fix is replacing the engine.
