  • 2022 AUDI E-TRON
    - Austin, TX

I purchased an Audi eTron 2022 in November 0f 2021. My wife has always loved the brand. Indeed, if you look at your sales records, you’ll find that we’ve purchased a Q5, two Q7s, and most recently an eTron from Audi North Austin. We’ve also always used your store for all the maintenance of our Audis. Approximately 5 months after buying the eTron we started experiencing glitches: -Screen randomly powering off -Random warnings, indicating something or another was not functioning. -The alarm would go off while the car in parked in our home garage. The key FOB was unable to disengage the alarm even if we get into the car and start it. The main issue I want to address is the most disturbing. On approximately 6 occasions, the car would come to an abrupt stop while traveling at about 35-45mph. I contacted Audi North Austin to have these issues looked at. I was given an appointment that was about two months out. In any case, this lea to the first visit to your service department for diagnostic and to address the issues. A couple of the minor issues listed above were fixed. However, we were informed that the abrupt stopping issue was escalated to Audi HQ but no fix was currently available. The service department rep did say, the did a software update and that might address the issue. About two weeks after the car was returned to us. We once again experienced the abrupt stopping again. (FYI, the impact of those stops is equivalent to getting rear-ended) This led to visit two. On this visit I was more reassured than the first visit. I spoke to Edwin and he was very sympathetic to our plight. He even suggested what he thought the problem might be. He mentioned that there is a sensor that runs down the side of the driver’s side and that that sensor may need to be replaced. Unfortunately, Edwin was wrong. Because a few weeks later while traveling about 45-50mph merging onto [XXX] . This particular incident put us closer to death that the previous ones. in 2017 Audi repaired a leaky fuel pump in my Q5 due to a recall. My vehicle now has less than 35k miles since that repair and the new-replacement fuel pump flange is failing again. Fuel was coming out and created a significant fire risk to life and property. Audi has refused to deal with the issue and speaking with mechanics at 3 dealerships revealed that the replacement parts are failing at an alarming rate. I would like this looked into.

The car has a known "oil consumption issue" that has led to engine failure that Audi has failed to take responsibility for. This is a 2104 Audi Q5. The car is in San Francisco and available for inspection. The car vibrates and can't be safely driven at highway speeds, if the engine suddenly lost power on the highway it could be a major safety issue for the driver and other drivers. The dealer has reproduced the issue and diagnosed it as needing new Pistons and Rings at 99,000 miles (but it has had this issue since in the 60,000 mile range, they just said keep adding oil). It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives, just the dealers. I'm sure some warning lights came on, but could not say which ones or when.

While driving the car, the steering column failed, making the car unable to steer. Mileage 81,312. The error message was Steering Malfunction, do not drive. and you could not turn the wheel. The independent service center confirmed and replaced the steering column. They stated they are doing 1-2 a week and Audi knows it's an issue as they are stocking the column. The repair cost me $5,000.00. There was no warning until it didn't work.

    - Portland, OR

We purchased a 2017 Q7 with low milage. At around 75k miles the engine started consuming oil every 1,200 miles, when previously it never required an oil change before the regularly scheduled service. The dealer always said "that is 'in spec'". This went on for over a year. Then, when we were driving cross-country for thanksgiving in 2022, the engine made a major concussive noise and we lost power while driving on the freeway at around 70mph. This almost caused a high speed collision. It was winter and we had the entire family in the car. we took it to the dealership, and the service tech recommended a compression test and borescope. No carbon build-up was found. Pressure was 'ok' in all cylinders. There were codes showing a fuel injector misfire, so the dealer recommended replacing all of them. The repair was done, but we've continued to have excessive oil consumption, the engine continues to run rough, and we occasionally get 'drive system malfunction' errors. When driving cross country in sub-freezing winter weather, last week, the engine lost power again. I stopped at the nearest Audi service center two hours later, and the tech found that the spark plugs had significant carbon fouling. Spark plugs were replaced. Engine continues to consume too much oil. Based on my research, it appears that this is a known issue, with several class action lawsuits. The Q7 does not appear to be part of these suits (yet), but there are posts and forums all over the internet with owners reporting this problem.

We were driving today at around 11:30am and all of a sudden the “Audi Presense” light came on at the same time the car brakes abruptly slowed down the car for about 5 seconds or so and then released. Today is a beautiful sunny day and there were no vehicles anywhere or anything in roadway on the road we were traveling on. The jerking /abrupt slowdown really surprised us. We will go to Audi dealer asap but now we don’t trust when it will happen again. A car could have hit us from behind.
