My backup camera turns off when I am backing up. I can no longer see behind my vehicle and I do not get any warnings that a car is approaching from either side of my vehicle. On a more minor note the sun roof opened on its own while I was driving on a highway during a rain storm

The following problem happened 3 times. I was making a right hand turn with plenty of clearance when the car seized. Engine shut down, lights on dash said MALFUNCTION and many other lights lit. Oncoming traffic approached and nearly smashed into my car. This also happened making a left turn at a traffic light after a stop at a red light. The other incident was in bumper to bumper traffic in a rain storm.

The vehicle experiences sudden, uncommanded braking on clear roads due to a malfunction in the Audi Pre Sense system. The system falsely detects obstacles and applies the brakes abruptly, creating a safety hazard for occupants and surrounding traffic. The issue was reported to Audi Beverly Hills multiple times beginning July 2023, including through the dealer's online service request system. However, the dealer repeatedly failed to document braking concern on repair orders until insistent during latest visit. In one visit (August 7, 2023), the dealer reduced the Pre Sense sensitivity without creating a repair order or performing diagnostics. At other times, service advisors stated the vehicle was 'operating normally' or refused to record the concern unless it could be duplicated during a short test drive. On August 25, 2025, the dealer finally documented my complaint as 'car would brake randomly' and performed an SVM reconfiguration, but the issue persists. The vehicle is currently used rarely for safety.

    - Norwalk, CA

On the very day I purchased the vehicle (07/22/2025), the high-voltage battery module pack failed, and the vehicle had to be immediately taken back for service. I did not receive it back until 08/08/2025. I was told it was fully repaired and safe. On 09/02/2025, the vehicle suffered multiple simultaneous safety-system failures, including: • “Audi Adaptive Light: Malfunction” • “High Beam Assistant: Malfunction” • “Audi Pre Sense: Currently Limited” (collision-avoidance system) • The vehicle also failed to charge that day. As of today, a new “Exit Warning Malfunction” warning has appeared. This is the third critical safety or high-voltage system failure in less than 90 days. At no point was I informed of any prior safety or recall issues before purchase. Each time, the dealership insisted repairs were complete — yet additional safety failures continue. This vehicle appears to have an ongoing electrical/safety system instability, potentially involving the high-voltage battery and critical driver-assistance systems. I am filing this complaint to ensure it is formally investigated before a serious incident occurs.

  • 2018 AUDI Q5
    - Pinehurst, NC

On 10/27/25 as I was slowly pulling into a parking space, my Audi Q5 lurched forward and jumped the curb crashing into a tree. Happened too quickly to apply the brakes. No warning indications at the time of the incident. Car would not start and had to be towed to a repair shop. The insurance adjuster is evaluating the damage, probably the vehicle will be totaled. Luckily the tree stopped the car and nobody was in in front as the car jumped the curb.

I understand that there have been recalls for the brake booster in some 2020 Audi Q5s. I have had my brake booster light come on, but my VIN is not in the recall. My car has less than 50,000 miles on it and I should not be having this issue. I think my car should be recalled and this issue should be fixed by Audi. The cost to repair this issue is around $3000.
