I'm registering a complaint about the length of time that owners/drivers are having to drive their vehicles without remedy for the airbag safety recall N232404980. We were notified of the air bag defect, with risk of harm/death, in June 2023. Parts were not yet available for repair as of that time. We were advised that we would be notified when parts became available. They are still not yet available 6-7 months later in February 2024. There is personal risk in driving these vehicles, risk to the safety of our families, and an impact to the trade-in value and market for our vehicles. If GM cannot ready parts in a reasonable time, they should be required to compensate vehicle owners for the value of our vehicles plus the forgone tax benefit associated with having a trade with auto purchase.

The NHTSA has issued a recall due to a safety concern with the airbag since the airbag inflator may rupture causing metal fragments to explode into the vehicle interior causing death or harm to passengers. As a result these vehicles have been designated as not safe to drive. While it appears through the Working Capital Assistance Program some type of compensation or assistance is being provided for dealers nothing is being done for those of us who own one of these vehicles. There is also absolutely no indication of when a remedy for this safety recall will be available; supposedly the defect is being addressed. Therefore we own a vehicle which has been declared unsafe to drive, yet nothing is being down to help owners of these vehicles. Why?
