  • 2023 CADILLAC CT5
    - Seymour, TN

We just purchased this 2023 Cadillac CT5 from Cadillac of South Charlotte and took delivery by long haul truck at our home in Seymour, TN on [XXX]. It had 40,744 miles on the odometer. We drove the car approximately 12 miles when suddenly the car went into reduced power mode where it would not shift past 4th or 5th gear limiting our speed to approximately 45 miles per hour. We drove slowly to the closest GM Service location that was just a few miles away and during that time the message started alternating to another message that said the transmission was about to seize. At that point we had the car towed to Cadillac of Knoxville and the next day they told us that the transmission control valve body was bad. I have since learned that General Motors has recalled over 90,000 vehicles due to a transmission control valve issue that can cause the wheels to momentarily lock up, increasing the risk of a crash. Supposedly the affected models include just the 2020-2021 Cadillac CT4, CT5, 2019-2020 Cadillac CT6, and 2020-2022 Chevrolet Camaro, with notifications to start being sent to owners this month mid-April. The recall for that issue according to what I read is to program the car to monitor the transmission and if it starts to fail to go into a reduced power mode. This is what my 2023 CT5 has just experienced. The Service Consultant at the dealership said they had ordered the part but that it was back ordered with no expected delivery date. Our new car is dead at the dealership. Everything I have read says GM is not fixing the defect in these transmissions. They are replacing the part with the same defectively designed part and transmissions that have been "fixed" are soon returning having to be "fixed" again. My vehicle is not covered by the most recent recall. Please take steps to expand the recall because they are still using the same transmissions and nothing has been done to fix the design flaw with them. I keep getting Steering assistance is reduced Drive with care” message. I got it scanned a couple of times through mechanic shop, code comes up with a thermostat cooling issue. I have paid 2 shops to run a cooling pressure test and all come up negative. How can a steering issue error lead to a cooling issue. Took it to the dealership, probably wiped the error, stopped for a month before came back. Love the vehicle but this is pissing me off.

  • 2024 CADILLAC ESCALADE
    - Edmond, OK

ENGINE FAILURE Engine failed at 20k on the highway. The vehicle went into neutral and shut off at 75mph. My wife couldn't get it all the way off the highway and multiple cars about crashed into it. A semi truck locked up his brakes and almost t-boned the car with my wife and kids in it. My wife and 4 kids had to exit the vehicle and run through heavy traffic to get to a safe place. The car wouldn't restart and had to be left in the highway. The wrecker couldn't get the vehicle in neutral to get it up on the flatbed. It had to be dragged in park onto the tow truck. The dealership is saying the engine failed and they have 5 in the shop right now for the same thing. They are saying it will be months before they can get it repaired.

    - North Kingstown, RI

While traveling down I-95 at 65 mph the truck shut down without warning. Extremely dangerous situation. The Cadillac dealership took the truck in and replaced the entire engine. I requested a buy back but was denied. I spoke to the dealership and GM corporate but neither would consider my buyback request.

  • 2025 CADILLAC ESCALADE
    - Panama City, FL

Purchased this vehicle brand new ( 3 miles ), just before Christmas 2024, from Bill Cramer Chevrolet in Panama City FL. We just hit the 7200 mile mark and took vehicle in for 1st service with 10% or so remaining on the oil indicator. This is my wife’s vehicle, so I do not drive nor hear it crank in the morning, or come home in afternoons very often. Since the service I noticed yesterday the engine sounding “different” than from initial purchase. Didn’t think much of it, just figured a new gizmo or gadget doing its thing that we weren’t aware of. Well this evening [XXX] I went to move it into the driveway. As soon as the vehicle started I knew instantly something wasn’t right. Had that classic “lifter tap” that eventually quieted down after 30-45 seconds but never fully went away. Previously there was no engine noise when starting, only the rumble of the exhaust and compressor kicking on for air ride. I let the truck go through its cold start/high idle sequence. Once at regular idle 5-700 rpm, I noticed a few sounds coming from the bottom end that really bothered me. I shut the truck off, let it sit for about 20-30 minutes and videoed the start up and noise. I just want to notate this, in case this now becomes the classic GM lifter failure. I will take another video in the morning with the vehicle truly cold start. • 2016 CADILLAC CT6
    - Desert Hot Springs, CA

I am experiencing recurring transmission and drivability issues with my 2016 Cadillac CT6. 1.Rough Shifting: When shifting from park to reverse, the transmission shifts roughly, causing a noticeable jolt throughout the vehicle. 2.Fluid Leakage: I have observed fluid leaking from underneath the car when parked in my driveway. However, the leak is inconsistent—it disappears for a few days after rain or washing my driveway but then reappears under similar conditions. 3.Delayed Shifting: When accelerating from a stoplight, there is a delay before the transmission engages, causing hesitation before the car moves forward. 4.Automatic Start-Stop Issue: The vehicle has an automatic engine shut-off feature that activates when stopping at a light. When I take my foot off the brake, the engine restarts abruptly, causing a harsh jerk that shakes the entire car. This makes it feel like the transmission or another component is not engaging smoothly. 5.Check Engine Light Issue: The check engine light came on for a day, but before I could take it to a repair facility, it turned off on its own. Because of this, I was unable to retrieve any diagnostic codes. I am concerned these issues indicate a faulty transmission system or related defect that may worsen over time. I request an investigation into whether this is a common defect in the 2016 Cadillac CT6 and if any recalls or manufacturer repairs are available.
