  • 2026 CADILLAC VISTIQ
    - Henderson, NV

I leased a new 2026 Cadillac VISTIQ on XXX. The vehicle had approximately 960 miles when the incident occurred. After DC fast charging at a Tesla Supercharger in Las Vegas, NV, the charging session did not complete normally. Shortly afterward, the vehicle displayed a “Reduced Acceleration – Drive with Care” warning message and vehicle performance was significantly reduced. The air conditioning also stopped cooling properly while outside temperatures exceeded 100°F. Because vehicle acceleration was limited and the warning indicated reduced propulsion performance, I did not feel comfortable continuing to operate the vehicle. I canceled a planned trip from [XXX] to [XXX] because I no longer believed the vehicle was reliable for highway travel. The vehicle was taken to the selling Cadillac dealership for diagnosis and remains available for inspection. At the time of this complaint, I have not yet received the dealership’s diagnosis or repair findings. This incident occurred on a brand-new vehicle with fewer than 1,000 miles. I am submitting this report because a sudden reduction in propulsion immediately following DC fast charging could create a safety concern if it occurs while merging, passing, or traveling at highway speeds. XXX around 10:30pm I was driving on the expressway about 65mph when the car lost power and turned off without any warning. It immediately shifted into neutral without me shifting gears. I was stranded in the right lane at night with cars driving by. I was extremely nervous I was going to be rear ended. I was able to pull over to the right shoulder on the expressway and then the car wouldn’t start. I had to have it towed to my house. I tried to start it once I got home and it will crank but not start. The car is at the dealership near my house and they have confirmed that my car has engine problems and needs a new engine. The technician said, “It just locked up on you.” Car’s engine still under 100k miles! Car has not being inspected by any other person besides Cadillac dealer. I did not receive any warnings lights or symptoms before car just turned off car started and run just fine all day. I provide all maintenance to the car. I also do oil changes every 5,000 miles because I use this car for my work. I bought the car in December of 24 in [XXX] when it had 5,000 miles on it. I was assured it had no issues then. I have provided all the necessary maintenance. I am now being told a new engine will cost nearly $16,000 with over a months wait to repair. All 4 of my door handles suddenly stopped working and they will start working from time to time. Most of the time it’s 3-4 days where i cant open my door’s from the outside. I have looked into this and have found that MANY other CT5 users have had the same experience where they are unable to open their doors from the outside, most stating that it could be the door actuator. Others stating they have taken their vehicle in and have been quoted up to $4,000 to do the repair on something we shouldn’t have to worry about. Getting into our own vehicles? we shouldn’t have to be worrying about not being able to open our doors because of a faulty door actuator. I believe this should be recalled so no one has to worry about the safety of needing to get into our vehicles quickly or in case a child closes the doors oj themselves and we are unable to open the doors to get the out. Please look into all the complaints about this matter and consider making everybody’s experience a better one and not one where our doors will one day suddenly go out and stop working.

  • 2024 CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV
    - Brooklyn, NY

I own a 2024 Cadillac Escalade ESV equipped with GM's 6.2L L87 V8 engine. The recall remedy for GM Safety Recall N252494000 (NHTSA Campaign No. 25V-274) was completed on April 17, 2026, at approximately 48,905 miles. Only approximately 2,347 miles later, on June 15, 2026, at approximately 51,252 miles, the engine experienced a severe malfunction while I was driving with passengers. Without warning, the engine began running extremely rough with severe vibration and shaking. The Check Engine Light began flashing, and Service StabiliTrak and Service Traction Control warnings appeared. A few minutes after I stopped the engine, it would not restart. I found no measurable engine oil on the dipstick. When the engine was started again, a large amount of blue smoke was emitted from the exhaust, while the engine continued running extremely rough. GM's official MyCadillac application displayed critical warnings for the Engine & Transmission System, Emissions System, Transmission System, and Variable Valve Timing (VVT) System. GM ultimately determined that the engine required complete replacement under warranty. Despite completion of GM Safety Recall N252494000 (NHTSA Campaign No. 25V-274), the engine required complete replacement only approximately 2,347 miles later. The replacement engine remains on backorder. I understand that NHTSA has opened Recall Query RQ26001 regarding post-remedy L87 engine failures. Because my vehicle experienced a post-remedy engine failure only approximately 2,347 miles after completion of the recall repair, I respectfully request that this complaint be included as part of Recall Query RQ26001. I have preserved photographs, videos, diagnostic screenshots, and repair records.

Automatic emergency braking activated on three separate occasions when there weren’t any reasons for it to engage, additionally if there were any cars behind me I would have been rear ended since they would not have anticipated me stopping so suddenly.

I took my suv in for diagnostics to a certified GM dealership at least twice while still under warranty. The check engine light was on, the car was behaving abnormally as well as making unusual concerning noises. The dealership sent me away saying no codes showed up and they couldn’t find a problem. The light would come on and off sporadically. I took screen shots of my dashboard every time the light came on. Within months of my warranty expiring xI was traveling to IL 1.5 hours from home on I-90 during heavy traffic. Suddenly the dashboard provided extensive messages ex: engine overheating, idle engine, etc and I could not get the rpm’s over 68, then 65; then 60; then 58 etc. I pulled over to let the engine cool on the side of a four lane bumper to bumper interstate environment alone. I had to have the car towed back from Elgin on my dime and took it into the same dealership where this time I spent 1700 on what I recall being told “engine coolant repair” as they claim small leak. Less than a month later the check engine light came back on so I took it back to the dealership. My Cadillac app was registering the same alertmas before the fix : engine coolant system. Dealership said it was a blown head gasket (something about cyl 1) sep from what they worked on for the 1700 and ate wanting over 3700 for this repair. My car was I believe months out of manufacturer warranty though I complained multiple times of concerns and because it is a “separate” issue from May repair and no year warranty from them either . 7 day wait for replacement part alone. I had car towed directly from dealership it was at to a mom n pop auto repair center in town awaiting full diagnostics, preserving “evidence” I learned online my particular suv (2019 Cadillac xt4 premium luxury) is known to have engine and other issues that don’t register codes and likely over 90% chance related to misdiagnosis or a band aid repair. *i have screenshots of dash, “my caddy”app alerts, etc*

I took my SUV to Heritage Cadillac in Lombard, IL for a revving sound while accelerating, specifically from 0-35mph and then acceleration on the highway at higher speeds. It sounded like I was revving the engine even when I wasn't accelerating and stay at a constant speed. There were not any service lights or notification of any issues in my vehicle. The car is at 59,000 miles, I paid $230 for a diagnostic run only to be told it was a "Faulty Muffler" and needed replacement for $1479.66 as it was not covered in my extended warranty. When I took it for a competing bid at a national-brand muffler shop, I was told parts were very hard to get for it as the car was "so new" and that he had another customer bring in for the same problem, but he couldn't find the muffler in his national data base. This lead me to research further why this would happen to a car only 5 year in. This led me down a rabbit hole researching this issue on other Cadillac forums. I'm seeing a recurring pattern among 2020-2021 XT5 owners with the 3.6L engine: a whiny noise when accelerating at low speeds, peaking around 3,000 RPM, traced to loose baffles inside the muffler or a restriction in the exhaust system. Several owners report first noticing it as early as 2,000 miles, with it getting louder over time - which lines up closely with what I experienced. More notably, multiple owners with this exact symptom got their full exhaust systems replaced under warranty, including vehicles with comparable or higher mileage than mine. I've also confirmed there are no open NHTSA recalls on my vehicle, so I know this isn't a recall issue. But given how consistently this specific failure shows up across other XT5s of the same model year and engine, it looks less like isolated wear and more like a known defect pattern.
