  • 2023 CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV
    - Chesterton, IN

For the second time, engine stalled out and car would not start. Going 75 miles per hour on major highway on cruise control and engine just stopped in the middle of the road. Major hazard and crash risk, unable to restart car and had to be towed. Trafffic was dodging vehicle and it was a major safety hazard. Approximately 7 months ago, the car would not start and had to be towed; we reported the incident to dealership, were told there was nothing wrong and there was no diagnosis. We inquired about the engine recall at that time and were told our vehicle was no affected. Our issues are exactly the same ones being stated as part of the recall for the same make/model/year for engine failure or this vehicle. Lives were put in danger today and we are fortunate there was not crash given location and speed of vehicle when engine failed abruptly. Towed to dealership, car remains there without diagnosis and we are no longer comfortable driving vehicle.

My 2021 Cadillac experienced a catastrophic engine failure that is mechanically identical to a known GM engine defect currently under recall. GM has denied coverage solely because my VIN is not included, despite the failure matching recall symptoms and diagnostics. This defect caused sudden loss of vehicle use and presents a safety and financial risk. GM is excluding vehicles with identical failures from recall coverage based strictly on VIN rather than defect presence. I am requesting NHTSA review of recall scope and defect coverage.

  • 2021 CADILLAC XT6
    - URBANA, IL

Cadillac XT6 – VIN: [XXX] echanical Failures, Ignored Transmission Recall(s), and Dealer Negligence I write this letter to formally place General Motors Company on notice of a pattern of serious mechanical failures, ignored safety recalls, and dealership indifference involving my Cadillac XT6, referenced above. This vehicle has been presented to Sam Leman Cadillac of Champaign on multiple occasions for mechanical issues, including—but not limited to—cooling system failures, thermostat defects, persistent check-engine warnings, and abnormal vehicle operation. Service records confirm repeated interventions, temporary fixes, and diagnostic acknowledgments without meaningful long-term resolution. More alarming, however, is the dealership’s failure to appropriately address and disclose known transmission recalls and other safety recalls applicable to this vehicle. Despite GM’s documented awareness of widespread transmission issues affecting similarly situated vehicles, the dealership elected to either minimize, ignore, or defer corrective action—placing convenience and cost avoidance above consumer safety. This conduct raises serious concerns, including: •Failure to act on known manufacturer defects •Failure to honor GM’s recall and safety obligations •Repeated return of a vehicle to service despite unresolved defects •A pattern of repairs that suggests systemic failure, not isolated incidents •Improper shifting of financial responsibility to the consumer for manufacturer-caused defects Consumers do not purchase Cadillac vehicles with the expectation of serving as unpaid beta testers for unresolved engineering flaws. Nor should they be forced to navigate a maze of denials and deflections when defects arise that GM already knows exist. This is not a maintenance issue—it is a manufacturer and dealer accountability issue. • 2013 CADILLAC XTS
    - Cedarville, AR

The contact owns a 2013 Cadillac XTS. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear suspension was bouncing, and the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. The message to "Check Leveling System" was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact researched and became aware of a recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was taken to the residence and the vehicle was self-diagnosed and it was determined that the stabilizer bar had detached. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report a failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

My car is equipped with a forward-facing camera, mounted on the forward area of the interior rearview mirror. Additional cameras are mounted on the front bumper, trunk door, and on the rearview mirrors on each side of the car. Various sensors mounted throughout both bumpers face the front, rear, and each side of the car. At the time of this incident all sensors and cameras were clean and free of obstructions, and software was up to date. I was driving uphill, negotiating a tight left curve at approximately 30 MPH in a rural, forested area in the Santa Cruz Mountains (California.) There were no other conveyances, objects, or obstruction on the roadway in front or behind me. The weather was clear and the daytime visibility was excellent. The road was dry and I estimate its gradient at 30%. As I was about to enter the curve, the vertical dirt hillside appeared ahead and directly in front of the forward-facing cameras and sensors, which I supose, detected this topography. With minimal pressure, I had my right foot on the throttle to keep the aforementioned speed while turning. The cruise control was not in use. As I began to turn, and while still facing the hillside, the throttle stopped responding and the car decelerated. Simultaneously, a warning appeared on my dashboard screen, indicating the forward collision warning system was unavailable. I fully depressed the throtle but instead of gaining speed, the car slowed down to 12 MPH as I completed the turn. In quick succession, I lifted my right foot of the throtle and depressed it all the way to the floorboard but the car did not accelerate. The car eventually regained forward acceleration when I had the throttle pedal all the way against the floorboard but despite this severe throttle application, the car only accelerated very slowly. Thereafter, the throtle resumed normal operation and I continued my trip over the hills and back. I believe I could have been rear ended during this scary incident.

Brake/abs system locked up on me and I couldn’t stop. I accidentally hit someone from behind and was proven to be an accident. My traction light my abs light and my brake light all came on at the same time right before I wrecked. The suv swerves over to the other lane randomly while on the interstate and does stop on time. Every time I fuel up gas leaks out from somewhere and its pumps gas really slow and takes so long

I am experiencing an ongoing issue with my vehicle’s rear passenger door. The door frequently cannot be opened from either the inside or the outside. At first, I believed the problem was related to the child safety lock. However, even after confirming that the child safety lock is fully disengaged, the door still fails to open from both inside and outside. Occasionally, after turning the vehicle off and restarting it several times, the door will open normally. However, the problem returns randomly, and the door appears to lock itself again without warning. Based on these symptoms, I strongly suspect a defect or malfunction in the rear door latch or door lock actuator. This issue presents a significant safety concern, as it can prevent passengers from exiting the vehicle when needed. I am requesting a thorough inspection and proper repair to permanently resolve this issue. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

  • 2014 CADILLAC CTS
    - Harrah, OK

My 2014 Cadillac CTS has been making what sounded like road noise. After another person road in my car that was not in it daily like I was, they told me how loud it really was. After further investigation, my rear differential has gone out at only 80,000 miles. It’s impossible to drive due to the extreme safety concerns for not only myself but other drivers on the turnpikes and highways.

Front headlights dim. Amount of light reflected/projected totally insufficient to drive safely at night. Amount of light reflected fails to illuminate area immediately in front of car. The amount of light actually approximates running lights. I replaced the headlight bulbs but did not solve or even affect the problem. Online research indicates it is not a bulb problem but the reflective coating around the bulb that has burned off on these parts. The fact there is no safety recall on a problem of generating sufficient light to illuminate the area in front of the car at night is shocking. A safety recall is necessary and way overdue.
