While riding, I felt the bike vibrating. Within seconds I heard a crack and snap and began to lose acceleration. Twisting the throttle only slightly revved the engine. I put on the hazard lights to alert vehicles behind me while I coasted to the left side of the road. When I stopped I noticed the belt was hanging and saw the front sprocket had broken. Insurance was contacted and the vehicle was transported to the dealership for inspection and repair. The dealership contacted the warranty company. Both the warranty and insurance was denied. Warranty expired in May and instance said it was a mechanical failure. Speaking with the service department, they confirmed it to be a mechanical failure and it wasn't something that could be seen or checked during normal service calls. There were no lamps or warning signs of the failure.

Due to a mechanical failure, the front sprocket began wearing and eventually broke causing the vehicle to lose propulsion in traffic. Vehicle was left inoperable. In addition to the sprocket breaking from the engine, internal to the engine and transmission, several gears were damaged along with the drive belt. This same issue had a recall issued for the 2015-2019 Spyder RT and F3s in 2022.
