2021 CHEVROLET BLAZER Complaints

Power Liftgate randomly opens when driving or parked. Even when the power switch is turned to off the liftgate will unlock randomly either parked or driving. I have contacted the dealer and GM no recall currently exists. Dealer recommended replacing the latch mechanism which I have ordered to replace myself.

Leaking coolant from bad radiator “just out of warranty”. Roughly $2000 repair estimate

Instrument cluster completely blacked out, providing no information on vehicle speed or status of operation. Operation of a vehicle without instrumentation would seem to be a safety risk. Chevy dealer diagnosed problem as IPC error U0155, installed updated software to correct the problem. The repair was not covered by the extended warranty I purchased through General Motors when I bought the car. I think a defect such as this should be the manufacturers responsibility, I believe GM has a service bulletin out for this problem covering several models of their vehicles. This should be upgraded to a recall.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that oil was leaking from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft carrier needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that there was a separation in the transmission, oil cooler line, valve, and hoses that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and submitted a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

I have a 2021 Chevy Blazer which has had to have two radiators replaced with less than 50,000 miles on the vehicle. The first time was in March of 2023. I took my vehicle in for an oil change and the technician told me the radiator was cracked and all of the coolant was drained from the vehicle. It must have just run out because I regularly check my fluids and the vehicle was not overheating prior to the appointment. The vehicle had about 32k miles on it, so the radiator was covered under warranty. Now in April of 2024 with 49k miles, I take my vehicle in for another oil change and the radiator is cracked, again, with coolant leaking. The technician told me two things that are concerning about this. 1.) This is a known issue on the Blazers that they’ve done multiple repairs on. 2.) There is a piece of plastic under the radiator that catches the coolant when it leaks, making it hard to notice an issue because the coolant doesn’t pool on the ground underneath. My service advisor went to bat for me against GM, who partially paid for the second radiator. This brought my installation cost to $235, even though it was no longer under warranty. Radiators cracking is a serious safety issue because if the driver doesn’t notice the engine overheating, it could cause a vehicle fire putting the occupants and surrounding environment in danger. There are no warning lights on the vehicle to tell you if there is low coolant, other than noticing the temperature gauge when it is too late. I don’t know if GM didn’t install rubber bushings to absorb the impact of bumps on the road, or if it needs some rubber washers on the bolts, but something is missing. I was driving on the highway when my car started operating like it was in neutral. RPMs was high but the car started to stall and slow down and because of it I had to immediately pull over. The car would not go into gear. I attempted to put it in drive ajd press the acceleration pedal but it just revved. Same with putting it in reverse. It's a safety concern because my car could not maintain highway speed and abruptly went stagnant. I had the vehicle towed to dealer and they replaced the entire transmission system. The car always had a shudder feel to it when accelerating from 0 onwards to 40 mph.The day this occurred there was no blatant warning signs.

The failing component is the ESC/power steering. It is available for inspection. It is currently at Bayway Chevrolet in Pearland, Texas. My safety and the safety of others is at risk when the power steering fails not allowing me to turn out of the way from road hazards or even make legal turns. This could result in an auto accident causing bodily injury or death to me or other drivers. Yes, a service shop in Alvin was able to see/reproduce the errors. No, however the vehicle is currently in the shop being looked at by service techs. There were no warning lights, messages, or other indications prior to [XXX] around 2pm EST, when this happened. The vehicle was driven home from work that evening. The vehicle was not driven all day [XXX]. Today, [XXX], I drove the vehicle to the service shop in Alvin, Texas to replace the battery. Around 10:45am EST, the errors/messages came on. I drove back to the battery shop in Alvin and they ran the codes. This is where they were able to feel the steering tighten up. I drove the vehicle to Bayway Chevrolet for repairs. Once I receive an estimate or repair invoice, I would be happy to send that over. I have made numerous complaints to Jeff Schmitt Chevy dealership Dayton, Ohio regarding parking brake being engaged upon starting vehicle even though vehicle is on flat surface. Twice now, last occurring [XXX], while gradually increasing speed to make a left hand turn the vehicle suddenly self-brakes, during acceleration, making a harsh screeching sound. I remove my foot completely from the accelerator before I accelerate again. The initial incident was reported to chevy dealership. No findings have been noted per dealership. The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was unable to use the electrical features in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the purge pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

Receiving 3 different errors on dash display. 1) Action Required- No Remote Detected 2) Action Required- No Remote Detected Press Brake to Restart 3) No Remote Key Wa Detected Place Key In Transmitter Pocket Then Start Your Vehicle. All of these errors are intermittent and have appeared with using 2 different Remotes. Batteries have been replaced also. This in itself is not so much a safety hazard (annoying), but what is intermittently happening is the car shuts down while in drive and in reverse. So far it has not shut down on the freeway but has shut down while on City streets. We have taken it to 2 different GM Dealers a total of 7 times in the last 3 months(currently at the dealer now). Each time the dealer is saying they cannot duplicate the errors. We get it back and within 1 (usually the same day)day it is right back with the errors. Clearly these errors are a nuisance and dangerous if the vehicle shuts down. I have additional service documents and photos and videos but due to the maximum I can provide they are not uploaded.
