2007 CHEVROLET COBALT Complaints

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while driving at unknown speeds, he heard an abnormal beeping sound, and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000.

The driver of the Cobalt lost control and swerved into the path of a tractor-trailer and collided head-on with the tractor-trailer. The airbag in the Cobalt did not deploy despite significant frontal damage to the Cobalt. A download of the ACU in the Cobalt revealed that the Cobalt's ignition switch was in the accessory position at the time of the crash. The ignition switch recall work had been performed on the Cobalt prior to the crash.

I was driving down the road and I used my blinker then my car shut off while driving, its turned back on in seconds then when I came to a complete stop the car shut off while on drive and it lost communication to the Tcm and it was displaying messages such as “low fuel” and the rpms was at zero

I wrecked my car and after having it fixed and reset the seat belts are still locked up. this is an extremely common problem in cobalts it seems. i went chevrolet dealership and they are telling me that it isnt fixable, that the seatbelts will just suck back down inside again. my car is fixed but is now rendered not safe to drive because the seat belts dont work, and theres no way to have them fixed according to chevrolet.

The contact was able to veer to the side of the road using extra effort to steer the vehicle. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle regained power steering functionality. Fuel leak from rusted fuel lines. I am willing to allow the vehicle to be inspected as it hasn't been repaired. The fuel leak appeared to be in front of the drivers side rear wheel and it is near the exhaust which is very dangerous.

I purchased a 2007 Chevy cobalt and was told by an independent shop that their computer was reading codes for the ignition switch and the air bag lights are on. On top of it the power steering feels like it goes in and out. I know there’s recalls on the 2007 Chevy cobalts for the exact reasoning. Faulty ignition switch and the airbags not deploying because of it. Along with like 4 other recalls GM announced. I just purchased the car not even two weeks ago so I was told to come on here and file a complaint to see if I can get the recall letter so the dealership can fix the car.

I do believe or at least was told that the noise sounds like the steering motor is going out. When I was trying to look for part stores that have one, the first thing that came up was a couple of images, but then the next thing was GM recalls on my year and make and the part I was looking up. I can't find it by entering my VIN# on GM website. I was told that my Chevy Cobalt was knowing to have issues with the steering.
