2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 Complaints

I am the owner of a 10 year old Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with less than 82000 miles. Chevrolet has Service Bulletins out regarding frame rust, but I was unable to have a dealership repair the surface rust for the 7 years I have owned the truck. My frame is now rusted out to the point it is not safe to operate and will cost over $15000 for Chevrolet to repair since the Service Bulletin was not resolved during the visits to dealerships for service during the Factory Warranty Period. My truck has never been abused. As Chevrolet stated in [XXX] , this may be a result of a manufacturing issue. This issue is beyond a cosmetic issue and does affect the safety of the vehicle, the driver, passengers, property, and people around. This issue is not isolated to me and my truck, but many others. Thanks to this not being looked at as a safety concern I am now left without a safe method of transportation. Frame rust and deterioration needs to be upgraded to a recall, just as Toyota. The entire frame has disintegrated. Not repairable, and GMC will not fix it even though this was a problem.

This truck has rust and giant holes in the frame, I'm not even sure if its safe to drive. I see that Chevy doesn't want to claim ownership of the manufacturing mistake. I can't even sell this truck because it would never pass a safety inspection. Chevy needs to be held accountable and do a recall to those of us who are stuck with the vehicles and fix their mistake. I don't even think a dealer would be able to accept as a trade in. I see other posts here that trade ins were refused due to the frame damage. YOUR AGENCY NEEDS TO DO ANOTHER OR FIRST INVESTIGATION REGARDING THIS SAFETY PROBLEM!!!

The contact's grandson owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his grandson was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized, and the vehicle was almost impossible to steer. The contact's grandson was driving on a busy highway when the failure occurred. The contact stated that the vehicle had been previously repaired at the dealer under NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V414000 (Steering) however the failure had occurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

Brakes won’t work at low speeds, says online it was a recall at one point just don’t know if my VIN got missed

I was driving with my kids in the truck because i just did school pick up i was aproaching a four way interection when i tried to stop and my break pedal was super stiff and found myself panicked i couldnt stop it almost caused an accident with a tractor trailer truck. I went up and over the curb into vacant parking lot in order to stop.

Brought truck into dealer for trade in. Dealer refused to offer trade due to excessive rusting of the frame. Dealer informed me that this situation has been prevalent in Chevy trucks due to negligence during the manufacturing process. Truck body and engine are in good condition. only 120000 miles. After leaving dealership researched this problem on line and now see that there are numerous consumers that have suffered the same fate. This is totally unacceptable and GM should do something about this to compensate their customers. GM apparently failed to treat the steel frame properly during manufacturing causing the steel to deteriorate prematurely.

Seat belt anchor broke replaced under warranty but replaced with same defective parts and broke again. Dealer refused to repair without payment of $160.00. Fan belt for air pump brakes you have no brakes to stop truck. A/C condenser defective from factory leaks at seams burns out compressor. GM refuses to recall and dealer charges $1800.00 to repair. I've repaired all these problems on my own except for seat belt anchor

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Truck failed state inspection because the frame had rust/corrosion holes in. Frame has been replaced @ this time & the old frame was scrapped. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Due to the rotted/rusted frame the reliabilty & safety of the vehicle was compromised & could have resulted in injury, accident or death Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Independent garage verified the defective frame & replaced it w/a new frame. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? After having the frame replaced the vehicle now passed the required state safety inspection. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Some surface rust was visible on the frame but it was not discovered to have rotted holes through until the underside was looked @ for the state safety inspection. It should also be noted that Chevrolet was contacted & provided the same documentation attached within. Chevrolet DENIED any re-imbursement due to the following: "After further review by our GM Reimbursement team, the vehicle is not eligible for a repair reimbursement due to the repairs being performed at a 3rd party. Also the vehicle is outside of the bumper to bumper warranty it would have been covered under by age and mileage."

The frame is completely rusted out. Parts are falling off of it, it rusted under the factory wax rust preventive coating. the abs system will brake the truck on its own without any warning lights.
